That blue-green in western Libya doesn't show up too well for me, and looks like Syria, although it might be my eyes or the monitor. and are Azerbaijan and Afghanistan supposed to be the same color? How about Kazakhstan and the north of the Indian subcontinent?
see, this is why i asked--to my eyes, Kazakhstan and India have colors just distinct enough to be differentiated but also saw that they might be too similar, hence why i wanted peer review like this i'll take all of these into account and switch some of the colors around, and replace those ones that are too similar

Pretty sure the Soviets will have a much smaller say in Austria with their contribution there severely diminished. Even East Vienna could end up crumbling in an instant just by sheer attrition. It's very likely Austria would turn to NATO, with the Soviets handing Burgenland over to Hungary in retaliation.

Austria will become a neutral state just like OTL as you said the Soviets have even less to say than OTL and their presence in Burdenland is only symbolic as it was the French Army who captured Vienna.
Guessing in this world the Pope also fought with with the Habsburgs. Apparently that was the reason they demanded Utrecht to be given to the King. If Switzerland is still within the HRE here I almost feel the Habsburgs would have taken back their old and combine them with Further Austria and Wurttenburg (which they had for a while). I am just wondering how they would deal with France in this world, as they have the English claims to it through Mary Tudor. Perhaps Normandy is dislodged in a future map, assuming you continue the series. And to be clear, is the series about specific Habsburgs being very successful (and thus things don’t stack.) or about the dynasty as a whole?

I feel it would be best for America to have all of Upper and Lower Austria, for logistics reasons if nothing else. If France got some land in southern Bavaria so they didn’t need to go through the one or two mountain passes that lets you get from Voralburg to Tyrol, they would probably be content with the occupational border changes. And actually, I am thinking the British got a lot less territory to look over here. Considering the British and Americans gave the French their zone from their own IOTL, the French could proudly see the zones they got on our world as having earned it. Splitting the Ruhr and Cologne area might make things less efficient, though I suppose that isn’t the main goal for people here, especially if it is like IOTL where half of what it produces gets shipped to the Soviets. Are you having it that, as France annexed a free small areas in the Saar area, it does not set up the quasi-independent Saar again? Of course this stuff might all come from that timeline you linked to but, as I cannot read French, I will not make assumptions. Would be interesting to see any changes in Italy for this world though, if it gives mention of those.
Just a focus on the southernmost country of a Nazi-dominated African continent. I tried to get administrative subdivisions where I could, but finding them (especially for South Africa's districts) was a little trouble - though not nearly as much trouble as finding electoral information. This map itself isn't really anything special, just a combination of S. Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana, as well as Swaziland (eSwatini) and Lesotho. The only real major addition is a Kriegsmarine naval base in Simon's Town.

I'm not 100% sure of the timeframe, but IIRC the first meeting Ian Smith talks about happened in summer 74, while the second happened in autumn, between them the situation had evolved considerably in Mozambique, the Lusaka Accord were signed and enshrined the Internationally recognised future Independence of Mozambique whole headed by FRELIMO, who took advantage of those months to quickly expend their operations south of the Zambeze while they were limited to the northern provinces before, back in Portugal the few "conservatives/colonial reformist" around the MFA (mostly headed by Spinola who had less and less power) who would have been favorable to this division were effectively sidelined by the MFA and Civilian socialists, and the September 7 Maputo Portuguese settler uprising and its supression by the Portuguese army made many of the settler flee to South Africa, so the population sympathetic to this division had shrunk considerably.

That's good information, thanks for sharing! I wasn't aware about a lot of the background, especially in Lisbon. Though as to the last point, the map I made wasn't necessarily to depict what was likely to have happened if the white régimes had intervened, but more just to depict only what Smith had described in that paragraph of his book.

As a result, it failed and 6 months later, the Allies landed in Provence, but remained stuck around Lyon, which was destroyed. Consequently, the Soviets drive out the German Army from Germany and their combat continues on the French soil. Therefore, the Wallies and the Soviets make their junction at the level of the Seine. De Gaulle in this TL died killed in a plane crash, the southern part of France is placed under AMGOT. The cold war between the Communist bloc and the USA took place, with a Soviet territorial advance which in addition to holding all of Germany, also held the Netherlands and Belgium. The iron curtain is therefore installed along the Seine, cutting Paris in half and where Checkpoint Charlie is located (like Berlin in OTL). In the northern part, a French people's republic is being set up, under Soviet orbit, while in the south, the French Republic remains but under the American influence.

I would suggest showing many subdivisions for future maps, such as which areas has who as the governor over it. Very common for that dynasty to do to deal with such a vast number of areas. Heck, Philip the II was given the position of King of Sicily, Naples, and Jerusalem (titular) so he would have a suitable rank when marrying Mary, being given all the lord, count, duke, etc titles the Habsburgs had in the Netherlands the year after the marriage. Might be one of their children, assuming they have multiple, is given those (Low Country ones, not Italian) titles combined with England and Ireland. Almost a shame you have the Dutch defeated here, as it means less chance for the English to contribute by wrecking their rivals and razing Holland and Zeeland.
As the series is French we can give it a partial pass. Not completely, but at least the person has it like that explicitly so they can focus on things on the ground floor. If they wrote a book series I would be more concerned, as it would imply France was so important the Germans put all focus keeping the Anglophones on the coast, rather than keeping the Soviets out of Germany,

If your looking for better PODs, one could be the Free France fail to form and Vichy is a much more committed member of the Axis. The Western Allies are forced to fight much harder and is seen as an outright turncoat against the Allies. (Thus allowing the Soviets to push their way west.)

About three weeks ago I remade the Florida COVID-19 cases by county map on the COVID-19 pandemic in Florida Wikipedia page because the map being used was rather unsightly. When I initially made it, my only focus was simply putting a higher quality map on the page because I was visiting it often. I wasn't particularly focused on stylistic matters at the time, e.g. I kept the rather nonsensical (as @Miner noted) color scheme the old map used. I didn't think too much about the specific case ranges, and I also didn't include other information like the data source (mainly because at the time I wasn't actually using a data source, just remaking a map).
I've ended up updating the map daily and uploading it the Wikipedia page. In doing this, I've made changes, updated the color scheme (thrice now, but I think I've settled) reworked the key, added important information such as the source I'm getting the daily case numbers from (the Florida Department of Health), the remaining counties that have yet to record a COVID related death, and the date the map is reflecting.

This is the most recent update to my Florida COVID-19 map. It reflects confirmed cases in the state by county as of the June 29th update to the Florida Department of Health's Data & Surveillance Dashboard. Since the original map from June 7th, the situation in COVID-19 situation in Florida has rapidly deteriorated. Like other Sun Belt states that enacted weak/late preventative measures and then reopened in spite of warnings from experts, Florida is in the midst of a major spike in COVID-19 cases. Where the 7 day rolling average of new cases was ~1,153 on June 8, the rolling average over the last 7 days has been ~6,589. On June 7th, the state had a total of 63,938 cases and in the 22 days since then the state's numbers have more than doubled, with Florida's DOH reporting 146,341 confirmed cases this morning. That is quite frankly a ridiculous rate of increase. It took the over three months to get to 100K confirmed cases (on June 22) and it is set to get past the 150K by tomorrow's update. For comparison, Illinois reached its 100K confirmed case on May 22, 31 days before Florida, but has only recorded ~41K new cases in the 51 days since then - Florida has reported over 46K in the last seven days alone and now has more cases than Illinois.
I've also put together a map showing cases on June 7 (in the new color scheme) and cases today so one can see the difference more vividly:
This is the third color scheme I've worked up since abandoning the random colors of the original map. The first color scheme I decided to go with was a variation of the classic pale yellow to orange to red scheme that can often be found on maps like this one. The pros of the yellow-to-red scheme is that it is pretty universally understood and doesn't distract too much. Maps that grow redder tend to convey importance. That being said, I got bored with it. It's a very common theme and is also a little bland. I wanted something a bit more my own. I ended up reworking the scheme by essentially moving each respective color on the yellow-to-red scale to its equivalent across the Inkscape color wheel in a blue-to-green variant. I personally loved this scheme mainly because I like shades of blue and green, in particular the ones I ended up choosing here. That being said, I showed it to a few people and the consensus was that it just didn't work for this type of map. In particular, some thought the shades of blue were too similar and a couple noted that the blue/green shades didn't convey danger/worse/bad the way the yellow/red scheme did.
After thinking about it I decided to redo the scheme and return to colors closer to red. I didn't want to simply go back to the yellow/red one though (it just isn't all that stylish and dangit I like pretty colors). While perusing the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States page, I noticed that the cases per 100k by county map used a pink/purple scheme that effectively conveyed the growing intensity associated with each respective shade. That map uses a five-color scheme, which I in turn adapted into a nine-color scheme for the expanded case range I've started using.
Here are the four color schemes that have been used thus far starting with the ugly and random original scheme that I didn't make, followed by the yellow-to-red one, then the blue-to-green, and finally the current version I am using seen above. Let me know which you think is best:

(Although with even more ethno-wank. Honestly, even with early post-Migrations PODs it's going to be difficult to assimilate or displace the central Russian Slavs, especially if they and the Germans end up on the other sides of the Orthodox-Catholic split as OTL. The population density gradient west-east isn't that high, Russia by 1000 AD wasn't the Wild West and the Slavs were not Indians, no matter what some people may have later imagined. )

I don't know about that. There's a reason the USSR kept mass killings of non-communist freedom fighters a secret for so long. They couldn't just tell the world "Hey these guys fought the Nazis too but they won't be slaves to us so we just tortured and killed them". They had to keep it under wraps or use "anti-revolutionary" or "treasonous" as reasons. Also Greece might be communist in this world.
@Osk pretty maps but these usually end up just being population density maps. Isn't one of covid cases per capita more useful?
