Lost another file to my computer's mysterious illness. Mongolia, Mexico, Moldova, Mauretania, Mali, bye bye. Left me feeling pretty depressed today.
If someone could find the WIP I put up a few weeks ago, I'd be grateful. (Lack the energy to find it)

Fortunately, have a little extra money (stimulus check) so may take computer to shop and get a professional to figure out the issue.

Partition of Laos
(From: the Kaiser, the Tsar and a Springtime Revolution)

The History of Laos was fairly similar to OTL until the Second World War despite the First World War being fairly different from OTL. The first year of WW2 did not touch Laos much but in 1940 the Imperial Japanese Army seized northern Vietnam and Laos while Dutch forces in the East Indies managed to force the French invaders back and were invading southern Vietnam and Cambodia. In July 1940 the Actionist French State would convince the Empire of Japan to make peace with the Entente turn on the Allies. French Indochina (including Laos) would be transferred to Japan as protectorates. Rest of the Second World War was largely uneventful for Laos other than the Indochinese Expedition Force that had been sent to aid the Japanese Army in the western United States.

1946 saw the failed Chinese invasion of Indochina in the Second Sino-Japanese War of 1946. The autumn of 1947 had seen the start of communist revolts across the Japanese Empire. Peoples Republic of Laos was established in 1950. The communist government of Laos survived until 1980 and the beginning of the decline of the Union of Britannic Syndicalist Commonwealths. Laos therefore had enjoyed relative peace and quiet for 30 years. After a referendum the new capitalist/democratic had been established as a constitutional monarchy. While the (communist) Democratic Republic of Cambodia became the (capitalist democratic) Republic of Cambodia the (orthodox Marxist) Socialist Republic of Vietnam became the (Chenist*) Social Republic of Vietnam. Cambodia and Laos joined the Indian lead Association of South Asian Nations soon after their democratization for protection against the Chinese and the Vietnamese. Laos became more prosperous during its existence as an Indian client with the help of free market capitalism and protection of the Indian military.

In 1995 ASAN's military/political side got dissolved. The economic side of the organisation continued existing. Indian military left Laos (and other ASAN members) but promised to send military help to any ASAN member which requested it. Laos lost the support of its great power backer in 2014 with the start of the Indian Civil War. This year saw the Sino-Vietnamese invasion of Laos which was followed a month later by Cambodian invasion of Laos (at the time Cambodia was run by a far left party). To the request of help from Vientiane, New Delhi replied that they would be glad to help as soon as they were done with their civil war. Lao government realized that they wouldn't get that help soon-ish. Thailand gave some help to Laos but it didn't prove enough. Burma's intervention into Laos 3 moths after the Cambodian invasion sealed the deal for Laos. The Thai army intervened in Laos "to protect the Lao people from communist aggression". After Thais took Vientiane and evacuated the royal family and the Lao government to Bangkok Bengal offered to mediate between the four nations that invaded Laos (Bengalese insurgent government hoped to use this as a way to gain official recognition from 4 nations including one nuclear armed great power). The Calcutta Conference laid out the borders in the Partition of Laos as can be seen in the above map. Bengal managed to use the recognition they gained to first become an International Concord** observer member and also became the first large insurgent group in the Indian Civil War to agree to a peace in 2018 (discounting the two year earlier surrender of Chenist Militants to the Indian government). After the peace agreement Bengal (officially Republic of Bengal and the Northeast) became a full member of the IC but has not, as of 2020, joined ASAN.

After the Calcutta Conference the Thai government offered the Lao royal family, cabinet, parliament and escaped military force a choice. The choice was to either disestablish the Government in Exile of the Kingdom of Laos and they would return to the Thai portions of former Laos. The politicians would be allowed to join Thai politics, the military officers would be offered a pension and a commission in the Thai military with equal rank if they wished, while royal family would be allowed to live in the palace in Vientiane and receive a generous pension. Or to keep the government in exile alive but moving to Jakarta in the ASAN member state Indonesia, with the possibility of moving to India after the end of the civil war there. The royal family, majority of government and majority of military accepted the generous Thai terms and became citizens of Thailand. A not insignificant portion of both the government and military did not accept it and left for Jakarta. This group formed "the National Movement for the Liberation of Laos" and the "Provisional Government of the Republic of Laos in Exile". They would gain more members as nationalists and patriots from non-Thai controlled parts of Laos escaped/emigrated to Indonesia. This competing government poignantly did not recognize Bengalese independence as of 2020 and remains in operation in Jakarta despite invites from India with the end of the civil war.

*: The ideology of the Social Republic of China. Named after Chen Duxui. Similar to OTL Trotskyism.

That sucks. Hopefully, you will get your computer fixed soon.

It doesn't happen that often, but when it does, it's a real pain - any google chrome windows I have open freeze up, even if I manage to exit out of programs I am working on they somehow seem to remain open, (they remain highlighted on the task bar), the task manager is useless, and the only way to get things running is a hard restart pushing down and holding the power button, and afterwards any picture files I was working on are corrupted and unopenable. Definitely want someone to take a look at it.

Are you ever able to notice RAM, CPU, or disk usage at this time? Task manager may be useless for quitting applications, but can you at least get to the resource usage tab therein to see what, if anything, is going on? Maybe a runaway process is eating up your resources.

Oh man, this really blows. That computer of yours really hasn't been up to no good for the last month or so. Maybe it's time to replace it?

This America has only recently 'abolished' slavery in 1886, due to continuous and successful support of slavery by the congress and the lacking funds for a sound railway construction, although they are built much later around the 1870's, which causes a railway strike and a effective minor american revolution, turning both sides against communism and socialism, radically changing america. The new British republic, formed out of the ashes of Victoria's reign with no heir and the founding of one of Victoria's heirs to be in fact Jack the Ripper, republicanism took over the isles and the empire. The republic re-instated many policies built up from the prehistoric republican movement and even changed its flag to it, later releasing Ireland and entering a mutual alliance with them.

Due to the British republic's large-scale support world-wide, the american government would collapse into itself, with corruption and splits from military generalship's, the people and congress. The American filibuster republic of Sonora itself declared itself as the rightful leader of America, as they launched a invasion across their border and into America proper.

This does feel very suspicious, especially since Itsa and ItsaMapping have similar mapping styles and similar writing styles.

been working on this for the last 3 months. the definitive map for my TL (in my signature) which I have not updated for a long time, which i'm possibly planning to pick up once again. it'll end at 1760 bc that's when i'm planning for the Vic2 mod to pick up.

I have noticed more google chrome applications running than I have actual windows open, but I don't know the significance of that. Can some Russian dude be using my computer to help them mine bitcoins or something?

Meanwhile, the Alps Confederation aka Switzerland has grown and become the prominent power of mainland Europe. In Italy, the Vatican has taken over most of northern Italy while Venice took the rest. In the Balkans, The Economic power state is known as Constantinople has gain richest inviting both greeks and Turks toward the countries while trading with other factions. In Eastern Europe, two powerful nation rises. The Sino-Soviet Union (It European section) and the Nordic Empire. In the middle eas The Arabian Federation and Persia have fought many proxy war.
