As others have pointed, there really isn't one, I just did a US collapse in the background for the sake of the map. I considered doing a joke reference to American Dad and say Reagan never got shot, Mondale got elected in 1984 and surrendered the country to the Soviet Union 47 days into the Presidency, but that took a bit of the dread of the scenario, so I just went with unspecified causes.
I think I remember that episode. Was Walter Mondale really that weak in foreign policy that the Soviets would have come out stronger?

Agreed, but it looks weird in Hanover, and I wouldn't dare make "Saxony-Brunswick-Anhalt", so making it its own state was the only thing I could think of. Also because @deleonism said I should.
I personally don't find it weird. Bot Hannover and Brunswick (the states) were born from Brunswick-Lüneburg, which then split up into Brunswick-Lüneburg (later Hannover) and Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel (later Brunswick) with both being ruled by the same dynasty. Or you could make a state called Eastphalia, combining big parts of the Eastphalian dialect and bringing two of it's biggest cities under one state. Something like this (the rest of Lower Saxony can remain as Lower Saxony or be called Engern);

Also, since we have our little talk about inner German borders. Here's how I would organize the federal states if I was Bundesreichspräsidentkanzlerführerkaiser of Germany. I pretty much would return to the borders shortly before the German Brother War, way, way simplified it and make the States more equal (or more like Split North Rhine-Westphalia and Bavaria. Also I still fused Mecklenburg and Upper Pomerania, because I personally think that Upper Pomerania wouldn't survive as a state. Also Saxony is called Upper Saxony, how could I as a proud Lower (real) Saxon allow myself to allow these wannabe Saxons to bear our gloriouse name? (also even though the Hanseatic cities are in the same colour, they are each independent city states)

A redesign of Germany's states, drawn from historical administrative divisions, traditional regions, what looks good to me on a personal level except for Saxony-Anhalt but that was unavoidable, etc. Based on current districts because I couldn't align any old maps correctly. I'm not German so let me know if there are any glaring omissions / mistakes.
Looks good, though Brunswick not

In my desperation for attention I am posting a WIP in the main map thread. I have no shame.

The year is 1989.

The Americas and the Pacific need to be finished.

What's this timeline about?

It's a reinterpretation of a classic TL from the old soc.history days. I re-read it and decided that towards the end of the TL it really starts getting random, I assume because the author was getting bored and was looking to finish things quick.

So I'm reinterpreting. There's one distinct change in the TL involving France and another reinterpretation involving China, either cause the author went wild or cause the info wasn't available when he wrote the original.

Upvotes if you can guess the TL. Nothing if I already told you on discord.

I haven't been on The Cord yet today...

But I recognize those Eurasian borders anywhere, and being the sport that I am, will not tell.

Revers Cold War (1970).png

A reversed cold war. In this alternate world, the Bolsheviks lost the Russian Civil war thanks to Lenin's assassination and the allied intervention being more involved. however, Trotsky escaped towards the USA. Trotsky would befriend many communists in the US. Eventually, the US economy crash much early in 1925 and Unempolyemnet and Corruption rise. Trotsky and John Leed would inspire the people of America to revolt sparking the second American civil war. Also in 1925, a British coal mine would turn into a Revolution that would kick out the Monarchy and the Parliament who would escape to Canada. They would there hijack the Canadian GovernmentWhile a republic is established in Britain. By 1930 the Communists won the Civil war. The Philippines declared independence but fall under a communist regime. Once WW2 began (The British Republic and Canada still protect Poland) The Germans would still win against the French. The French would then be coup into a Socialist Government turning into the Free Comune. The Russians were still invaded as the Germans saw the Slavs as a threat. The USSA and Russia still enter the war and still win the war. Once this happens Japan and German are divided to prevent them from gaining power. Following the war, a cold war occurred between the Russians and Americans over Capitalism and communism. France become communist thanks to the allies and gave up its African Colonies. The Chinese civil war still occurs but the Nationalists won the Civil War and the communist escape to Taiwan. In Indonesia, in 1948 a socialist coup occurred. In the middle east, Iraq and Syria unite into one state but would fall into a civil war against the communist. The Congos collapse due to the ethics division. Brazil falls into the Civil war where the communist won. This cause Argentina to become closer to the Russians. With the commonwealth on the side of Russia, The borders of Canada and the USSA remain tense. As the world remains tense Things got worse with Russia placing missile in democratic Cuba.

Yes, this is a bit unrealistic.
I hope you like it took me a while.

I posted this to the imaginary maps subreddit a few days ago, and kinda forgot to post it here. Here is a map of The Republic of California from my timeline: Freedom Rings. This is both alternate geography, and alternate history. In this timeline, the US is a confederation of regions (though they are still called states). California revolts before Texas ITTL, so its flag evolves more like Texas's did, and vice versa.

Couple problems even if San Diego would possibly have been sunk here, I expect the name of the mission would still be used here instead of Imperial. Mexicali and Tijuana seem to be in opposite sides from where the cities are in relationship to each other. Mexicali certainly wouldn’t be a name here if all of this land went independent at once. The naming convention for splitting Baja California probably wouldn’t go the same route as their went IOTL, especially since Baja already last half. Might as well just call the new state something else, if it is even worth splitting them. Guess it might in terms of providing services. Also, could you explain the logic behind the flag? I think I get what you are trying to claim, but I don’t think it works even by that logic. Granted, I am a loyal Californian so I take pride in the state flag. We all have those sort of things we just mentally like staying the same.

Well, for the names, I would have called it San Diego, but Imperial is much cooler. The Mexicali/Tijuana thing is because I named Tijuana last, and I was uncertain what to call it, so I geuss ITTL they just name the cities a little bit differently. For Baja, I dislike butterflies, and for this timeline, its more just "the southern part of California". The flag is half for fun, half because the OTL Cali flag is slightly based on the OTL Texas flag, so I couldn't use the single star bit, and decided to just redesign the whole thing. I am Californian too, and also take pride in our state flag, so it was very difficult to make one I was happy with, and I'd just like to say that ITTL Texas flag is very similar to OTL Cali, with a star where the bear is.
