More Railroading, and Various Other Events, in the Boyd-Verse Part 2
Special thanks to @Murica1776, @KingOnTheEdge and @TheMann for inspiring some of my ideas here as we start going a bit more internationally for these. Many of these above events also relate to one of my recent DBWIs.
British locomotives have never been common in the American Territories. However, the above Hunslet-built tank engine was one of many that the British firm built for use on industrial lines across the Carribean from Puerto Rico to British Jamaica.
This section of the Southern Pacific's Coast Daylight rolls along the west coast of the Baja Peninsula en route to St. Luke's Cape from the San Fransisco Bay Area of Jefferson.
Reinhard Heydritch, ruler of East Germany during the Seperation era, was already notorious for his racial views. Ones that would only make the East German invasion of West Germany even more brutal than what people had initially expected from a fascistic state.
This photo, taken in 1940, depicts an orphaned Japanese child after the Soviet firebombing of Hiroshima. Photos such as these further fueled pro-Allied sentiment in both the US and UK, which were still neutral at the time. Though the above event, combined with the Spanish Invasion of Portugal and the East German/Austrian invasion.
Having previously regained his Catholic faith, then attended Oxford and achieved degrees in both art and mathematics, Austrian-born Civil Engineer Adolf Hitler was appointed Prime Minister of the newly reunified Germany after the Giant War. Hitler's vision for a Reunited Germany that now included Austria projected one of almost a space-age Europe. His use of the swastika as his personal emblem is best exemplified in this 1948 photo, from when the newly reformed Germany first had the Kaiser re-established.
British and German forces meet up during joint exercises early in the Cold War. Determined to have a strong ally to combat the American, French, and Chinese conversions of Spain and Russia into Republics, the UK, Brazil, and Japan sought to likewise reform Germany and Hungary to balance the power out quickly between the Republics and Parliments.
The event that most think finally ended the Cold War for real was the Carnation Union. Increasing instability in Portugal led to Brazil coming in with British support to establish a Brazilian-Portuguese Constitutional Monarchy. Eventually, support by the French, who felt betrayed by American and Chinese support for Indochinese rebels, led to many in the world realizing that the quarrel between Republicanism and Monarchism was ultimately quite silly, since all of the nations were democracies that gave semi-autonomy to their colonies.

So recently I've been thinking about what the wider world of Land of Confusion: Genesis would be like and I'm kinda picturing the Soviet wasteland would be similar to Metro, Atom and STALKER. The same way that the American wastes are in the same vein as Fallout, Wasteland, Exodus D20 and Mad Max, since the world pre Armageddon was pretty atompunk and cassette futurism in terms of technology. Also yes there's some nasty supernatural elements stalking the ruins of the old world and some crazy esoteric stuff.
I'm kinda picturing post apocalyptic Samurai defending their villages from rabid packs of mutants in post Armageddon Japan and Swiss expeditions encountering various survivor bands across the Alpine Wastes.

Genesis
When Armageddon struck not everyone left behind on the surface gave into the darker side of mankind's nature. A few brave souls in those dark days decided to take a stand against the four horsemen of the Apocalypse, these men were the Desert Rangers. Starting out as a simple company of Army Engineers of old America who were out in the desert rebuilding roads and bridges when doomsday rang. It wasn't long after seeing the mushroom clouds in the distance that these lost souls took over a nearby prison complex and driving the inmates out into the desert... something that they would eventually regret.
Land of Confusion:
Genesis
World oldest man and leader of the Soviet Socialist Republic Until his death in 2002 Joseph Stalin. Described by his successor and head of the NKVD Vladimir Putin as an old bear to stubborn and angry to die. Over his long rule he would survive three world wars, ten car accidents, a near train crash, two attempted coups, a friendly fire incident with the Black Sea fleet, and a unknown assassination attempts. It was often joked that Stalin had purged death himself and it would appear to be so seeing how Stalin would die of a self inflicted gun shot to the head saying earlier that evening

So many corpses and atrocities... dear lord Twilight of Red Tzar would be tame by comparison.
It’s get worse seeing how there were a ww3 so unfortunately the suffering wasn’t just limited to the poor Soviet people.
Children of Slavia, In the USSR Before WWII
"The Slavic People would often refer to themselves as the children of the Gods, and for some of us, it is very true." A Polish Demigod, circa 1822.
A photo of a Soviet Demigod in the NKVD named Kliment Veyletskovzki (son of Veles.) Throughout his rise in the NKVD ranks in the 1930s while the Great Purge was occurring, he would often use it to eliminate his rivals within the NKVD. A few circles within the Slavonic Demigod community have even speculated that by 1939, Veyletskovzki and his father to a greater extent, Veles were controlling the USSR from behind the scenes as Stalin as their puppet.
By 1939, with Veyletskovzki's influence, the Soviet Union would raise several units of Demigods (usually from the Ukraine or Russia) with a total of strength of 7 divisions worth of soldiers, which were all dispersed across the Red Army. These men and women were usually trained at Special Military Schools that were tailored specifically for them, which they go through very rigorous training. They would also be equipped with the finest weapons that the Soviet Military Industrial Complex had to offer such as the PPD-38 and the SVT-38.

Photo of the PLA paratroopers dropping in L/A shortly before the first PRC beach head on the main land. Even with early warning of military buildup by China President Mansfield refused to believe that China were going to invade. This wasn’t help by the sacking of his military officials over scandals and the appointment of his party insiders.
Type 96’s advance across the great plans after rapidly encircling large pockets of hastily scattered national guard units called up to the front.While praised by the Chinese media what was left out was they were moving to fast for the infantry to keep up.
Chinese tank blown up by and IED somewhere in Texas.
American Troops makes a last stand on the banks of the Mississippi River as the rains comes in helping to slow down the Chinese advance and allowing the Americans to reinforce the front line stoping China’s blitz.
