My attempt at a flag for a British Commonwealth with the stipulation that I couldn't use a) the Union Jack or b) the republican/chartist flag of OTL. I actually think this colour scheme is really visually appealing and it looks great flying.

EDIT: I have just found out that basically the same flag exists in the Divergences mod for Victoria II and the idea has probably been done a few other times before, so this is somewhat less original than intended but ho hum.

I love it all the same and the idea of a Republican Great Britain is just so fascinating to look at.

Marx being right and the revolution first happening in the industrialized countries does have potential, especially if it links in with the Paris Commune, the Spanish Republic and a eventual great war between the Internationale, a German-Russo Conservative Alliance and a American Empire busy doing crazy stuff like taking advantage of the chaos to expand into Africa and China.

Is there a Turkish Mars?

Having just gone into a police station, I was surprised by the presence of blue lives matter flags (black field with a blue stripe) and the lack of American ones. Stick a eye of Providence or a pyramid capstone onto it and you've got a great dystopian flag.

I imagine a TL where there's no "Hundred Days" and Murat keeps Naples. But later, at the time of the independance of Mexico, Murat exchanges Naples with the Bourbons of Sicily against the throne of Mexico. So I imagine 2 flags of an empire of Mexico under Murat:

Or this:

Which is the best?

Flag No.2. No.1 has too many eagles defacing it.

Now, I imagined myself that in Germany, in the 1880's, the Duke of Brunswick exhanges his duchy with Prussia against Alscace-Lorraine. This last is since an autonomous duchy like Saxony and Bavaria, which they are kingdoms. Here is a flag of the duchy of Alsace-Lorraine headed by the Duke of Brunswick:

Or I imagined the Bourbons of Two Sicilies exchanging Sicily to Murat against the throne of Mexico, and I couldn't make a coat of arms mixing the bourbons two sicilies's blazon and the symbol of Mexico (the eagle), so I did the best that I could:

Could you explain the flag? It's rather awkward.

it’s meant to be an amalgamation of the Argentine, Chilean and Paraguayan flags.

Going by how the country arose as essentially Greater Argentina though the flag doesn't seem likely to go that way.
A dark blue version of the Argentine flag seems most likely. Or perhaps a 5 stripe of bwbwb which would also allow the middle one to be of a different colour to the outer stripe.

In this case, it's more akin to how this was something of a compromise with the Chileans and to a degree, the Paraguayans in the 19th Century.

Why would they? They won.
A later reconciliation is more likely to modify the Argentine flag than slap it hastily in the middle of the Chilean Transition flag.
And bear in mind that the middle half of the 19th C Argentina used dark blue.

Technically speaking, the Chileans in the TL welcomed integration. Either way, even considering how the main POD is around the 16th Century (though the effects in South America wouldn't be as pronounced until considerably later), the flag seemed workable compared to, say, rehashing the Gran Colombian or US flags of OTL.

The point I'm making is that just slapping the flags together is worse than rehashing. There needs to be a convincing development.

(Moving the conversation here as it's flag related)

Assuming the revolutionary flags of la Plata are similar to OTL - blues with stars for what became Paraguay and Chile, blue white tricolour for Buenos Aires/Argentina - then the larger Argentina probably still uses the tricolour plus sun of may. With different shades of blue at different times and for different uses.
I then see the later federal Patagonian flag as simply adding a stripe:
laplata1.png

Whether all blue,
laplata3.png

Light blue to represent original core Argentina, or
laplata2.png

Red if perhaps the the later tricolours of Paraguay and Chile were in use.

(NB on phone so no access to using actual Sun of May image!)
