Since the recent posting of the graphics I made have been pretty popular among AH.com, I figured why not and I am deciding to make a thread dedicated towards the setting in which the posted graphics I had displayed. Ball of Confusion is the canon timeline of my constructed world, Erecond.

The Overview of things
upload_2019-8-2_19-41-58.png

This is the current progress of the political map as of 34 IE, aka the current and present year on this planet. Much of the development so far has been lopsided towards one country, the Confederation of Concordian Republics (the turquoise country in the top left corner), a behemoth of a state, it's economic prowess is mostly accented by its most progressive stage it has been in for decades, and was once a former dominion of the Kingdoms of Calhoun (the dark red country just east of Concordia), which it had formally exited and transitioned to a republic almost a century ago.

Erecond has it's very own universally recognized calendar, the Common Timing Structure, which categorizes the years into eras of certain periods.
Sapient Era - The period in which agriculture is cultivated, civilization and societies begin.
Promise Era - A time of steady growth as sprouting civilizations grow, technology improves greatly.
Firehand Era - For many unknown reasons, magic was a dominant mystical force that dominated much of Erecond. As magic provided many advantages and an easier life, it led to a stagnation in the improvement and got in the way of technological progress.
Second Promise Era - The Second Promise Era was the era that began after magic had no longer began to influence the souls of others (The last known person possessing any form of genetic mutation associated with it, died in 280 SPE). This began another age of growth for countries, like colonization, the rise, and dominance of democracy, and philosophical thought, as well as many inventions that would further make life easier on this planet. It ended in 685 SPE, as treaties following the Panthalassic Wars (the largest, deadliest war most recent to occur in Erecond), effectively ended the era.
Information Era - The current period and most advanced of the last four. The Information Era categorizes in the existence of the internet, space travel, and so much information passed down towards the younger generation born within this era.

The Calendar is mandated by a hereditarily appointed committee situated in Roberplan (The capital city of Calhoun), who usually convene during trying times in voting to end an incumbent era to usher in a new one, they typically decide what said era will be known as.

Other than that, here's another graphic I recently made!

The 3 most major figures in Concordian politics at the moment, Margaret Major, a former Chief Councilor and leader of the opposition party, the Concordian Party, and was once secretary of state under Chief Councilor Kip Snyder. Geoffrey Todd, leader of the Equality Party and the incumbent Chief Councilor. Veers Samuel, the leader of Society & Labor, and also a former mayor of the Todesoro state capital of New Roberplan, as well as having the position of the Speaker of Union Congress and the General Secretary of the Concordian Alliance of Trade.

A recent graphic I made, the 679 Concordian confederal election, which was hosted just a year before the Panthalassic Wars would begin to make a stunning dent in Concordian politics at-large.

The Concordian Confederation practices the first past the post voting structure, their arrangement of parliament is one of the Calhian influences still upon them to this day, as they have still practiced the same political structure as Calhoun even after splitting from dominion to transition into a republic. This 679 election would prove unfortunate for the last Chief Councilor Thomas Russell, who at the time was the longest-serving Councilor at 3 terms, the first one to have more than 2 terms as well as the highest approval rating among any Councilor. The general charisma and economic policies of Kip Snyder would lead to the Concordian party obtaining majority within the Commons' Council for the first time in years...

Edit: Just realized I forgot to change the "leader since" date for the Farmer's League candidate :confounded:

(I'm bored and burnt out, so a little bit of graphic for fun)

The Order of Quill, is the highest civilian award of the Concordian Confederation that is provided and rewarded by the Chief Councilor. The reward is not just limited to Concordian civilians, as Confederation Military Personnel are also qualified to also be rewarded and able to be worn on their uniforms. It is rewarded if the recipient had committed an action that benefitted the general welfare of Concordia, or the world-at-large, this may be contributions relating to cultural, or public and private endeavors. The ribbon the blue and green, signifying the two main colors of the Concordian Confederation. The main figure featured is Jeffrey Quill, the first Chief Councilor of the Concordian Confederation and one of the main signatories of the Concordat.

The Order of Quill was established in 649 SPE by Chief Councilor Ned Nixon, who wanted to reward those who contributed towards the Concordian people. The very first recipient of the Order of Quill was Jo-Ann Reed, who decades earlier was an upfront figure towards establishing the Union Congress following a mining accident that killed over a hundred workers in which lack of regulations and care for them mainly contributed.

Question: what effects do the fact that most sentient creatures are animals have on this world?

As of yet, the cultural aspects, and the general effect of the sapients' effect on this world hasn't been addressed as political structures have been mostly prioritized over the course of this project. Though with the sapient population being at least 8 to 8.5 billion on Erecond world and as well as extreme industrialization in some parts of this world, climate change may also be a major problem. Non-sentient animals have also been pushed out of their original habitats as a result of sentient domination and some as a result had become endangered due to poaching.

I've ignored this thread for a bit now, so I've come out with another image of fantasy geopolitics! Today, we will be showing off the Crimson Revolutions that occurred from 613 to 620 SPE and was a series of revolutions that occurred especially in the historical Sonia-Berdian and Escrian Empires. The early 610s in Northern Gewisuf was not a pleasant place for working-class citizens, especially in Sonia-Berdia, Escrot, and Calhoun, who at the time we're beginning waves of colonization all over the world. The working class had been influenced by the manifestos published by Escrian philosopher Pierre Ganzi and Berdian author Erich Muller in 554 SPE, which would kickstart ideas that would oppose capitalism and favor a dictatorship of the proletariat. Decades before the Crimson Revolution, there have been small endemic revolutions that sprouted but had failed due to mostly small numbers and mostly a lack of leadership, many political parties had formed in places such as Calhoun, Concordia, Kauresia, and Anzio as their democratic installations had allowed free representation. There was also the Berdian Democratic Labor Party, a party that was present in the unicameral legislature established by the monarch in order to give proper representation to the people, and had mostly been dominated by economic and political elites that were middle or upper class.

The first wave of revolutions began to start in Early 613 SPE when Escrian workers recently unionized thanks to a decree made by the Escrian sovereign Leblanc V, who wanted to increase the happiness of the workers by at least allowing them to be able to unionize. This, however, would not be the case as most of the conditions in the workplace had been deplorable without any sort of benefit as workers were severely underpaid as most of their salaries were taxed to their wealthy employers. The first revolutions in Escrot were although disorganized but were mostly collectively led by the labor unions that had begun to sprout out following their ability to flourish. The leadership of these revolutions is mostly disputed as many of the leaders were mostly the presidents or councils that governed the unions, Escrian laborers such as Ignace Devereaux, Alizée Frère, and Robert Le Tonnelier have mostly been the leading figures behind these revolutions, with Ignace Devereaux being chosen as the most notable as he had been elected the first head of government for the new Libertarian Socialist government for Escrot.

Although revolts had begun to follow just months after Escrot, they had mostly been in the works as the Berdian Democratic Labor Party had mostly been the influence for the working class in Sonia-Berdia. The leader of the party was a man named Harold Kober, who had mostly risen through the ranks to become the General Secretary of the party. He had mostly envisioned a centralized dictatorship of the proletariat that would allow workers to vote for their candidates in the election, and to provide them their representation as they had made up much of the population. His central committee would make up the vanguard that would plan out a revolution in order to demolish the monarchy and would begin in early 614 as many protests and deus ex machina capturing of armories across the country. Much of the legislature saw this as an advantage thanks to the country being distracted by revolution, they planned out an executed a coup d'etat that would establish a provisional government in Berdia in favor of creating a republic and had planned to establish democracy while uninstalling the autocratic installation. Unfortunately for the elite that established the government, it was weak as it was extremely unpopular among royalist troops and revolutionaries as Sonia-Berdia had plunged into a 3 sided civil war that would be the monarchy versus the socialists versus provisional government.

The civil war would last for several years, absolutely devastating the country and ending a decades-long colonial empire that would be quickly dismantled in only 10 years. The revolutions would last up until 621 as the Worker's Commune of Escrot would be recognized as a sovereign country in 617 SPE, following with the Union of Sonia-Berdian Council Republics in 621 SPE. The former monarchy of Escrot had escaped and turned to be exiled in one of their original colonies, Nouveau Êcrot, a dominion of Escrot located just west of the Concordian Confederation, which would gain independence in 617 SPE and a safe haven for the monarchy. The resulting consequences of these revolutions were that countries such as Calhoun, Anzio, and Concordia would soon get a surge of emigrants from Escrot and Sonia-Berdia, who've been displaced by war and revolution, while Calhoun and Anzio turned them away, Nouveau Êcrot and Concordia had welcomed them into their country.

Flag of the Confederation of Concordian Provinces from 477 to 624.

For the first 147 years in Concordia's history, it was led under the crown just east overseas in Calhoun, with the monarch being coined as the head of state with a governor-general and an overseas privy council as representatives for the Callish sovereign. The Concordat that was approved by Queen Fletcher V, united 8 of the Callish and Escrian colonies overseas, which would include the provinces of Ulfton, Noofaust, Frayger, Ramone, Rostraver, Elcentre, Etucom, and Oroville, and would establish the Confederation of Concordian Provinces. The Concordat would be the supreme law for the Confederation of Concordian Provinces onward and would establish the country as a federation under the same electoral system used by the Kingdoms of Calhoun. The country was bilingual, as Callish and Escrian delegates had to make the Concordat document twice to provide for Escrian and Callish readers. The twenty-first day of Parpane on the four hundred and seventy-seventh year of the Second Promise Era would be the official date in which the document had been ratified by the 8 colonies, thus establishing the country and also incorporating the territories still being organized.

eee.png

First Chief Councillor of the Concordian Confederation Jeffrey Quill, and Queen of the Callish Empire, Fletcher V.

Even up to today, the Concordian Confederation has used the same electoral system as the Kingdoms of Calhoun, as part of the Concordat, the Commons' Council and the Imperial Diet were established as houses for the Concordian Parliament and shared those names for the Callish Parliament. The Commons' Council would be proportional, allocating seats per state depending on population, while the Imperial Diet would be fixed at 103 seats, the Commons' Council would be elected by the people while the Diet would be members appointed by the Governor-General on advice from the Chief Councilor. Jeffrey Quill was the first person to become the Chief Councilor for Concordia, appointed by the Queen on confidence from the new Commons' Council, Quill beforehand was a leading figure of the Muyland Continental Congress, serving as the presiding Congressman for much of its existence, Quill supported a union of the 8 bilingual colonies and was one of the contributors towards the Concordat. Although his popularity among the people in Muyland was high, there was still division as communities who opposed the monarchy was skeptical in the future success of the dominion, but, their voices were heard as republican MPs were elected to office, but were at an overwhelming minority as the Pro-Union Party was among the most dominant in the Concordian Commons' Council. Westward Expansion had begun to take shape throughout the late 480s to 90s as these skeptics and republicans began to die down as the dominance of the Free Federation party had begun to be seen as apparent.

The westward expansion would continue for the next century and would include the purchases of Benatar and Rialachas Island from the Callish in 541 and 553. The many indigenous communities in Muyland had especially been affected as their land had been taken by Concordians, with most indigenous Muylanders opposing the monarchy and the Concordians which had resulted in many political and physical conflicts during the course of westward expansion. The Colonies of Benatar and Rialachas had been reorganized from penal colonies into incorporated islands that would go on to expand and become one of the most populated regions in the country. The ideas of westward expansion had been divided within the Commons' Council and the general population, as Pro-Unioners mostly were for the expansion while Republicans and Anti-Unioners had opposed such an idea for the sake of protection for indigenous peoples. The Free Federation party, whose popularity led them to become the main opposition party, the big-tent party had a large number of people who opposed to the idea, most with mixed ideas that either cater to the indigenous population or the focus on interior problems first before considering expansion.

Flash forwarding to the late 500s to early 600s, Concordia had industrialized rapidly along with North Gewisuf, their economy had led to a massive boom and immigrant had been encouraged upon the government. Industrialization and business had grown large in Concordia, but, the Concordian government had agreed to abstain from intervening in the market as to not disrupt the general welfare of the economy. With horrible working conditions, low pay, and child labor was commonplace in the Concordian workforce, the rise of socialism within many of the political institutions within the Concordian Confederation was inevitable. Concordian political activist Glenn Carrier founded the Industry Party in 603 and was an anti-monarchy politician that had been influenced by the manifestos of Pierre Ganzi while incorporating Concordian characteristics. The Concordian population had gradually begun to grow tired under the Callish crown, most of the working class had begun to be influenced by socialist institutions such as the Industry Party, labor unions began to sprout to life as unionization was made legal in 612. A mining accident in 620, that led to the deaths of 235 miners in Granville, kickstarted a grand movement for the better treatment of workers and government intervention in business, this also had strengthened the movement to separate Concordia from Calhoun, and the Free Federation had grown with voters who were unconfident in maintaining the monarch as the head of state.

A referendum would be hosted in late 623, whether or not the Concordian Confederation should separate itself from the Callish monarchy and declare itself a republic, the final tally was clear that the Concordians were fed up with being ruled by a position that was inherently autocratic (although at this point, the Callish monarchy was entirely ceremonial). The final vote of confidence also showed that the government also no longer wanted to maintain itself as a constitutional monarchy. Chief Councillor Zoe Perry led the movement as she quickly had the government intervene into the markets, having created regulations for workers, creating 8 hour days, and maintaining an age limit for workers and much more. The Muyland Republic Acts of 624 would take shape in early 624, the King and Calhoun at the time were unhappy with the opinions of the Concordian government, but had no other choice.

The Muyland Republic Acts would be approved on The 21st of Paprane on the six hundred and twenty-fourth year of the Second Promise Era, the same day as the ratification of the Concordat just 147 years earlier. A public meeting between Chief Councilor Zoe Perry, King Connor X, Callish Prime Minister John Stomas, Governor-General Stiles O'Reilly, would sign the document, officially identifying and recognizing Concordia as a republic. The terms would affect the Concordat, which originally recognized Concordia as a country ruled under the Callish monarchy, and it was added that it would be considered null, and would state that the country would be an independently ruled republic. The Sovereign of Calhoun would no longer be recognized as the head of state, with the position being taken by the Chief Councilor, the Privy Council, and all Governor Generals and Lieutenant Governors would formally step down from their positions. The country would be renamed to the Confederation of Concordian Republics and would be changed from Federal Parliamentary Constitutional Elective Monarchy to Federal Parliamentary Constitutional Republic. The capital of Welltraver will be changed to Lanton, with a separate federal district being created from territory from Rostraver and Ramone that would house the federal government, with government institutions still running in Welltraver up until construction finishes on new government institutions in Lanton.

The third house of parliament would be created also, the Union Congress, which will provide representation for workers in regards to the legislation of labor, the Concordian Alliance of Trade would govern the house and it's General Secretary would be the leader and Speaker of the established Central Committee that will be the executive part to the Congress. The National Electoral Commission would be founded under these terms, in which its function is to handle local and federal elections in Concordia, and manages the drawing of electoral districts by a non-partisan committee to ensure no form of gerrymandering, and will also handle the Imperial Diet as the Imperial part is thrown out, and the entire Diet is reorganized into a non-partisan council of NEC members with fixed-terms, as well as establishing 2 representatives per state for the Diet.

So, as Erecond is indeed a fantasy world, it has its own calendar that is used by billions while others stick to more cultural and traditional calendars. The 12 months of Erecond function like that of the Gregorian Calendar, which features 28 to 31 day months, separated each into 7 day weeks. The first draft of the Erecondian 12 months were mostly placeholders and mostly hard to pronounce words that would be hard to memorize if you weren't native to the planet. Here would be the new 12 months to replace the old 12.
1. Newyar
2. Secundi
3. Uvehm
4. Imseed
5. High Bloom
6. Midyar
7. Varmyar
8. Parpane
9. Paxaps
10. First Wilt

Political structure for the Worker's Commune of Escrot, a federal collective of somewhat sovereign states which are known locally as "Communes". The country mostly practices non-partisan politics with labor unions mostly participating in regional politics. Federally, the partisan wing of the government is manifested in the Congressional Syndicate in Avlonge, a bicameral legislative branch in which representatives from each Commune come together to discuss at-large issues and draft legislation for them to be passed. However, following the Crimson Revolutions, this was not the intent, many of the caucuses of trade unions who had fought against the former Escrian monarchy had believed in a full abolishment of the state in order to achieve full liberty. The reorganization of Escrot into a federation is what led to the transition into a partisan representative democracy, rather than a revised plan of workers providing for the country in a central federal congress that functioned as a sort of direct democracy. The country today calls itself Libertarian Socialist, despite there being somewhat of a state being present, and functions more-so as a democratically socialist country which parties are only allowed to idealize towards left-wing politics.

Diagram of Concordian Government.png

I return with more graphics! This time a political structure diagram of the Concordian Confederation that trumps all other versions before this one. This one was made using draw.io, which I have to say was significantly easier to use than using paint.net, and had come out with a somewhat aesthetically pleasing result!

Tl;dr, this diagram has been used since 624, the year in which the Muyland Republic Acts were established, which created the 2nd revision of the Concordat that had knocked out the monarch as head of state and installed a ceremonial Concordian president as the new head of state. The Concordian President (incumbent being Conrad Killigan since 3 IE), is a ceremonial position that serves for life and holds only one term, so in the event, the president ever resigns, dies, or is impeached by Parliament, they can no longer serve as president ever again. Elections for president are uncommon as the ruling for life especially is the cause for it. Elections would begin for the presidency just 2 weeks after the president is uninstalled from office, in which candidates most popular among the people will be put upfront as to be voted into their office. The voting process for president had been inspired from the system from Kauresia, as elections will follow as a body of 696 electors that are voted by registered voters, who would then convene to then vote for the president.

Being the President is mostly a ceremonial job, much of the power given to the President is that they can be able to ask the Chief Councillor if they can form a government, and can also sign bills into law. The President also has that power to veto legislation, which has happened few times since the position has been in existence but for many of these instances, they were overridden by a 2/3s vote in the Parliament. If Parliament thinks it is right, they can vote to impeach the President and install a new one, in the scenario in which the President had exercised too much power allowed in the fine print of the Concordat.
