Max didn't feel like adding in much lore about Australia, aside from the whole gov retreating to Tasmania thing, so I decided to create my own, mainly we lose Sydney+ Brisbane and most of NSW and QLD, but retreat past the Murray and Alps and as well hold onto Perth and Darwin due to pure isolation and coastal far north QLD due to mil presence, isolation and environment. Melbourne has a bit of a battle of the Five Colleges vibe, as its not lost but also not really secure during the early days, but eventually its outbreaks are cleared similar to many of the medium size cities in the rocky safe zone in the book, eventually turning in to the main industrial hub of the reclamation. Although large amounts of the country is lost, Australia comes out of the panic in far better shape than the vast majority of nations with a lot of the population still intact and the resources necessary to rebuild from the safe zones. Almost immediately the military and government begin preparing to push back zack, the plan for reclaiming the nation has 5 steps. 1. Deal with any lingering outbreaks in the safe zones, shore up the defences of the weaker safe zones, eg North Queensland, and attempt to rescue those still in Zack territory, Australia does not implement Redeker, instead using its vast size and low population density to buy time. 2. Army Group South pushes out of the Victorian/SA safe zone north up the great dividing range reclaiming Canberra whilst Army Group North pushes south down the great dividing range, the Army Groups are to secure the range and everything East of it, surrounding major cities too large to immediately clear, the Army Groups are to link up at Byron Bay, the easternmost point on the Australian Mainland. 3. Begin slowly retaking the major cities of Sydney, Brisbane, The Gold Coast and Newcastle. 4. Send smaller very mobile detachments of the army to secure, clear and patrol the interior of the nation concurrent with the reclamation of the cities. 5. Assist New Zealand, and Australia's other Pacific neighbours in clearing there respective nations of Zack. Objective 1 is accomplished in the first 6 months to a year, depending on location, Objective 2 is completed Months before Honolulu, objectives 3 and 4 start at the same time as Honolulu, but take years to complete, Objective 5 Begins a year after Honolulu, with Australian troops assisting NZ troops in their return to the North Island.
A group of rogue Chinese militiamen with Cold War era surplus weapons used mass rifle fire to mow down a herd of Zack. Such groups were common in mainland China during the Civil War. Some even trying to remain independent of the newly formed United Federation. Much like the campaign against similar separatists in the US, militias that didn’t surrender were ruthlessly eliminated as a show of force.
