Today is Argentina's Independence Day, and you bet I have some maps ready.

First a mild Argentina wank, with most of the post 1853 territorial claims:

Second, an United Provinces of the Río De La Plata.

Third, the Imperio Unido de Sudamérica under Capaq Inka Tupác Amaru III, plus the Netherlands (royal marriage through Queen Máxima) and the Holy See protectorate.

What's Spanish for "Argentina can into space"?

French called the Netherlands Pays-Bas, while Luxembourg would be too minor to even bother mentioning. I expect it would still be in Germany here.
The benelux was IOT a proto ECSC customs Union founded in 1944. Before that, there was already a monetary union between Belgium and Luxemburg, the BLEU. That one was sometimes already called the Belux.

Updated Version of the 420 ce map, After a bit of geography usage and a bit of changes in the borders, including a lot of new nations

I posted this before but now have worked on the parties. This is an alternate United States of America. USA consists of 4 "Republics" who are more independent than the states (Vermont has a Westminster System, Texas does its elections on a six year (and not 4 year) basis, Hawaii actually restored a fully ceremonial and powerless monarchy and Cuba has free education and healthcare) and have their own partial militaries (Army and Air Force for Texas and Vermont, Navy and Army for Cuba and Navy and Air Force for Hawaii); 7 "Federal Districts" (formerly territories) who have 1 senator each (and not 2) and the continental ones other than Columbia (aka DC) are basically huge reservations; and 42 "States" divided into 10 Confederations. All confederations and republics have their own party systems and federal parties only exist as big tent coalitions and for the districts. I may add some more information (especially about the parties and the names of the states, confederations and districts.). Here is the list of Confederations and States thereof.

I have Parliament diagrams for for the Republics and parties in Confederations (not parliament diagrams since every state has their own bicameral legislatures.) I have not worked on Federal legislature but I will post the Federal parties and their component Confederal and Republican parties. I can explain the abbrevations of the Parties if anyone wants.

Thanks @Skallagrim for his edit on North-South straight borders.

Edit: Just realised I forgot to recreate confederal borders between Pacifica and New Mexico. That disappeared because of the edit changing some borders in that region. Will re-edit that tomorrow.

Fantastic job! The only nitpick I have is that I feel the state of Columbia is too big, with over fourteen million people in its boundaries by OTL 2019 standards in there. Splitting it in half would do it some good.

So I should re-create OTL Washington and British Columbia? I suppose I can do that. There are Founding Fathers whose names I haven't used yet.

Epic. As an Argentinian I approve.

It would be something like "Argentina puede al espacio", as @Bleh said, but it sounds very strange.

I wouldn't re-create those states--I like the borders you've got going along the northwestern Canadian-American border. I'd divide Columbia along the 49th parallel though, and separate Vancouver Island as well.

Why no annexation of Chile?

Better to leave them to suffer the GLORY that is Argentina :p

Chile was never part proper of the Rio de La Plata Viceroyaltly or United Provinces so that's why I didn't include them in the second map. There were plans for a United Provinces of Sudamérica which most likely would have included them, that's the third map.

What's Spanish for "Argentina can into space"?

"Argentina puede al espacio" I would think. Native speakers, correct me if "dentro" would work better but that sounds strange to me.

Literally in Polandball speak it should be something like "Argentina puede dentro del espacio".

More properly should be "Argentina puede ir al espacio" (Argentina can go into space). Which is incidentally the slogan of my future presidential campaing :D

That sounds more like super-mega-Peru than Argentina...
Anyway, awesome map

It's based on the Inca Plan, (see here) but yeah, at this point, is more of a Perú (as in the Viceroyalty of Perú) wank. But when you have Bolivia and Perú, why not claim the whole thing while you're at it?

Epic. As an Argentinian I approve.

Gracias chamigo.

"Argentina puede a la estratosfera" also could work.

I just realized for both Atlantica and Chesapeake it looks like a party is part of both the Socialist Front and the Liberal Progressive Alliance. Well let me say that isn't the case. It is just the Peoples Parties and the Progressive Parties of the Confederations. Interesting coincidence.

Unsurprisingly, broken English does not translate well into Spanish

Literally in Polandball speak it should be something like "Argentina puede dentro del espacio".
"Argentina dentro de que puede ir en entre al espacio"

-what Polandball speak looks like to me all of the time. It's maddening.

~~The Great American War~~
I don't now that I've seen it much here but there are definitely a few AH novels that shoot for the kind of story that you're talking about. The Yiddish Policemens Union is the main one that comes to mind, tho I'm fairly sure there are others. I think your on the money that the difference has to do with where authors want to focus. Turtledove, Eric Flint, etc. can be a lot of fun but their work is mostly just war/adventure stories with a twist. Novels or stories that have a tighter focus tend to be aiming for a more dramatic or "literary" angle, to the point where they usually aren't grouped in the same genre categories as more traditional AH work. On the site I tend to like fake monograph or extract style works since I think a lot of creators here are interested in the world building or exploring their own areas of interest more than a traditional narrative, tho even then there tends to be a narrative of sorts.

Edit: Actually thinking about it "Protect and Survive" has a very similar vibe to the kind your discussing, at least for me
