Little is known about the man reported to be at the center of the events of the Chicago Incident (2019). The confrontation between poorly-understood supernatural powers that killed thousands and injured tens of thousands more is still seared in the national consciousness, along with the revelation that the supernatural is real. What is known is that Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin on October 31, 1975, to Malcom and Margaret Dresden. Mrs. Dresden, formerly the wife of Brutus Raith, died of complications during birth, leaving Malcolm Dresden to raise his son alone.
Following the death of the elder Mr. Dresden, the Ohio Office of Children and Families reports that Dresden was passed between foster homes until coming into the care of one Justin DuMorne, a British expat living in the United States. Several years later DuMorne was killed in a fire along with Dresden's foster sister Elaine Mallory, and came into the care of Missouri resident Ebenezer McCoy.
From circa 1994 to 2010 it is believed that Dresden worked as a private detective who partnered with the Chicago PD on a number of cases, including the 2000 Third Eye Drug Ring, the murder of Ronald Ruel (2002), and the 2001 Wolfman Murders. During this time Dresden also advertised his services as a Wizard in the phone book and made several appearances in public, including on the
Larry Fowler Show, during which time an on-set incident was blamed on Dresden and the television personality sued him.
Rumors about Dresden abound, that he was enthralled by a vampire for some years in the early 2000s, that he has defeated the Antichrist and prevented him from creating a global pandemic, that he led an army of resurrected dinosaurs against an ancient demon who aimed to become a living God, and that he is the keeper of Excalibur, possibly even the reincarnation of Merlin himself. Some say that he has become a King among the Fae and commands a guard of fearsome warriors from beyond this world, taking the title of
Tsalord, a mantle of grave power and influence.
Following the events of the Chicago Incident (2019) public demand to understand the events that led up to the deadly confrontation spurred endless congressional hearings and a number of changes. Among them was the decision to appoint Natalia Raith as White House Special Adviser on Supernatural Issues. Ms. Raith, a graduate of Yale, has held a number of positions which placed her in regular contact with a number of supernatural entities still only poorly understood, including the Fae, the White Court of the Vampires, and the White Council of Wizards. This connection made her a natural choice for the position, following what President Trump referred to as a "very history tragedy." Anonymous sources close to the President claim that she has quickly entered President Trump's inner circle, and has spent a great deal of time in meetings with him, members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Special Adviser Ivanka Trump. Briefings with 2020 Democratic candidates have been reported to be extremely fruitful, with the exception of reportedly disappointing meetings with Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, and Pete Buttigieg.
John Marcone is the founder of the Better Future Society, an organization that has been instrumental in the reconstruction of Chicago following the Chicago Incident. Marcone, a property developer whose business interests led him into contact with the supernatural, has partnered with members of the Chicago PD Special Investigation Unit, including former SI head Karrin Murphy (ret). Since then Marcone has been eager to assist governments worldwide develop connections to supernatural entities, often partnering with private security contractor Donar Vaderrung and Monoc Securities.
Rumors of criminal involvement, or that he a "freeholding lord" among the supernatural community, have been proven false, as many who resent the influence he has gained have attempted to discredit him. Lieutenant Edward Hendricks, an associate of his who was his superior officer in the First Gulf War, has testified that Marcone has always had the best interests of the American people at heart and showed exemplary service during the First Gulf War. Marcone himself has declined to comment on these allegations, instead directing all inquiries to the head of his legal department, Helen Demeter.
