More revolutions in 1848?

What areas of Europe came close to revolution in 1848, but managed to avoid it?

Could we possibly see revolutions in Rhineland or Luxembourg? Is a Swiss revolution possible (Their civil war only just ended)? What areas and groups that didn't revolt have a chance of uprising?

Norway? There was an economic crisis there, so I'm kind of surprised there's no mention I could find of that snowballing. Also, Russia.

Balkans. Other than Greece. You know, South Slavs. Serbia is a likely candidate. Bulgaria. They would want more autonomy from the Ottomans, more liberal government. Maybe even an earlier young Turks type revolution in the Ottoman Empire

I don't know if this is outside the scope of the OP but if the Great Reform Act isn't passed then it is possible that Britain could experience a revolution in 1848.

If Ernest Augustus somehow came to power in Britain he could end up throwing a spanner in the works for the various reforms going on at the time. If that happens you could have a situation where middle class reformers make common cause with the Chartists and launch a general uprising along with the rest of Europe.

In Denmark and the Netherlands revolutions were prevented due to their respective monarchs being willing to enact liberal constitutional reforms. Have different kings in chatge and that could change.

Kingdom of Sardinia if Carlo Alberto had not gone liberal in 1846 or if the throne had ended up with his horrible Habsburg-Este relative (Duke of Modena iotl, but he had a claim).

Russia would be awesome, but times were probably not mature. I still would really like to read a succesful Dekabrists TL...

Well, Greece always had the potential to be worse under Otto, as if the Regency was bad enough. In fact, if the Regency was kept in place we could have Greece go bonkers in 1848 (well, throughout the 1840s in general, but still) and have the entire system kicked out due to resistance to adopting a Constitution (among other things).

Poland, Netherlands etc are optional. Willem II quickly gave in during the revolution. Poland fighting a war of independence in Austrian-Galicia and Russian Poland (making it futile as Russia will swamp the Polish populated areas).

I see one with the Ottomans... Literacy in the Ottoman Empire was not high enough to spread revolutionary ideas. Only a military coup is possible by some ambitious pashas. But that may be repelled easily.

There was a Decemberist timeline a while back. I don't remember a whole lot, but it kind of went off the rails in the 1860's when the British essentially turned into the Draka. Also, the writer was banned years ago, so it went incomplete.

IMO a top-down peaceful revolution is still a revolution.

Alternatively it could have been like this: the Revolution 1843 doesn't happen, for some reason, say some of its leaders are killed or jailed or something else, but tensions continue to mount; at that point, 1848 seems like a likely candidate for a revolution.

Pan Slavic revolt in Austrian Empire.

The Croats and Slovaks are loyal. The Serbs are not in a position to rebel with the absence of Croatia. Bohemia is surrounded by German speaking population. The Poles remain... but Russia will not tolerate a Polish revolution.

Pan-Slavic Rebellion in 1848 is unlikely.

And on top of that the Ruthenians (read: modern Ukrainian and Rusyn peoples) were doing their own thing, with some not too keen on continued Polish domination.

They had a rather significant revolution, including a brief period of "constitutional papacy" before turning into a full blown Republic, eventually destroyed by French expeditionary forces, but not before voting for a very beautuful and really advanced constitution which was for many elements a model for today's Italian republican constitution.
