@Newne76 Why do you like naming parties "Hobo"?
I just think of it as sort of a neat party idea focused on either the efforts of combating/increasing homelessness for additional support at the polls. It sort of stems from a while ago when I came up with a very poor version of the Confederacy in the 1930s at the height of the great depression, with the effects of it never really waning due to a sweeping landslide for Landon in some ASB 1936 election where Roosevelt decides to turn on protesters ala bonus army march the week before the general election.

Here's a bit of an odd one.

Meet John Bercow, British tennis hero. Reaching the British No. 1 ranking in a stellar junior career*, he remains one of his country's most decorated players with achievements including two titles from Wimbledon, one from the French Open and an Olympic bronze medal. Voted 1992 BBC Sports Personality of the Year (SPOTY), he has maintained active engagement with the sport well into retirement in various coaching and ambassadorial roles, and most visibly his popular appearances on BBC Tennis punditry panels.

* I recently found that happened IOTL but was ended by illness, and wished I knew more about Tennis.

I love it. I wonder if his tennis grunt is "ORDER!"

Still though, I could actually imagine him as a BBC tennis pundit at Wimbledon.

The coordinates given suggest that Odergrad is OTL Berlin... the Oder however does not flow through Berlin, the Spree does. So shouldn't Slavified Berlin be called Sprevagrad rather than Odergrad?
For what it's worth, the name "Berlin" itself is of Slavic origin (similar to Lublin, etc)... surprising that the name changed at all.

"Time zone: UTC+2 to UTC+12"?!

I'm guessing Constantinople itself is on UTC+2, but what about the UTC+12 zone... Did Constantinople somehow hang onto control of the Commander Islands or Wrangel Island (presumably with US help) and prevent a Soviet takeover?

He Fights On, He Fights On To Win

As had been widely anticipated, Ted Heath faced a leadership challenge in early 1975, following two successive general election defeats during the previous year. While some on the party's right favoured Margaret Thatcher, it was the more seasoned Sir Keith Joseph who entered the contest.

On the evening prior to the leadership ballot, Joseph made a speech in which he talked of a "cycle of deprivation". Unwisely, however, he made suggestions that pointed towards eugenics. The speech dominated the national headlines and news bulletins throughout the following day. Joseph's numbers men detected a significant decline in his parliamentary party support over a mere few hours, and he received just 91 votes; just 24 hours previously, he was estimated to have at least 110 pledged votes, possibly enough to force a second ballot.

While it was hardly an overwhelming endorsement of Heath, it was clearly enough to avoid a second ballot, and with a referendum on the Common Market just months away, there was no appetite for another contest in the immediate future.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Heath seemed to gain a spring in his step after surviving the leadership challenge, and his campaigning during the EEC referendum was amongst the most passionate seen by any leader since the War. The referendum was won easily by the Yes side, by around a 2-to-1 margin.

Things started to turn sour again for Heath, ironically as things turned sour for the Labour government. The IMF crisis and the gradual unravelling of the 'post-war consensus' should have been an opportunity for the Conservatives, but Heath's 'consensus politics' seemed oddly outdated, and there was something of a 'better the devil you know' factor amongst the electorate. This was reflected in the opinion polls, which only showed the Conservatives ahead by 5-8% in the dire period of 1976-1978.

As the conference season of 1978 approached, a mood of optimism emerged, as Labour suddenly took a modest lead of around 5%. This, combined with favourable marginal seat polling, convinced James Callaghan to call an election for October.

Heath was talked of in obituary terms throughout the campaign, but he'd been in this situation before. Eight and a half years previously, he'd been written off. Once the results starting coming in on election night, deja vu took hold.

Alaskan Russian is pretty mutually intelligible to European Russian. Basically it is a Russian-Ukrainian descended language/dialect more closely related to the Southern Russian dialects with influences from Balachka and the Alaskan Cossack diaspora and immigration. The western and northern regions of Alaska speak a more divergent dialect, which is more closely related to the OTL Mednyj Aleut language.

Alaskan Russian (аляскинский русский alyaskinskiy russkiy), also known as Alaskan, is variously classified as an East Slavic language or a Russian-Ukrainian dialect. It is the official state language of Alaska, one of the three official languages of Canada and co-official with English in Oregon, as well as being a recognised language in the Canadian Northwest Territories and the United Empire. Written Alaskan Russian uses the Russian variant of the Cyrillic script. It is the most widely spoken Slavic language in the Americas, and has the largest native Russian-speaking population outside of the Soviet Union.

Historical linguists trace the origin of Alaskan Russian to the arrival of Russian fur traders to Alaska in the 18th century. Early settlers intermarried with the native Aleut peoples, and their communities predominately spoke several aboriginal languages prior to 1780s when Russian colonial policy shifted in favour of substantial civilian settlements. Colonial Alaska saw immigration from Russia, Ukraine and other parts of the Russian Empire, with each group bringing their own languages and dialects which contributed to the development of a distinct Alaskan dialect of Russian. The arrival of the ancestors of the ancestors of the Alaskan Cossacks in the late 18th century, emigrating to escape their decreased autonomy in Russia, brought the Balachka dialects of Russian from their homelands in the North Caucasus, further influencing the development of Alaskan Russian.

In the 21st century, Alaskan Russian is spoken predominantly along the coast of the Gulf of Alaska, from the Alexander Archipelago to the lands around the Tikahtnu Inlet, and stretching inland through the Tanana Valley to Chena. It is also widely spoken in the Stikine region of southeast Alaska and the region of Lower Alaska in northern Oregon, although throughout the 20th century the number of speakers has declined due to the growth of English. The western Kusilvak region and the Aleutians also boost large Russian-speaking populations, whilst the northern Aleut-dominated region and the Interior have smaller populations. The Yukon governorate in the east is the only part of Alaska where the Russophone population is less than 10%, as it is a predominantly Anglophone region owing to British settlement during the 19th century.

Linguistically, Alaskan Russian has a grammar structure similar to Ukrainian and English, following subject-verb-order, with three tenses but a gender structure more similar to English. The phonology and morphology is close to the Southern dialects of Russian. The dictionary is mostly of Russian origin, about 70%, with 20% of the Alaskan Russian vocabulary being Ukrainian in origin, and about 8% coming from Aboriginal languages, specifically the Na-Dene and Eskimo–Aleut languages. In the 2011 census, 3.2 million reported speaking Alaskan Russian as their first language at home.

Addendum-033-A: After Wikipedia went down on 05/11/2021, the foundation discovered a Wikipedia page about the number that was uploaded shortly before the shutdown. It has been concluded that the article contained sufficient proof to cause deterioration effects on the database. It is suspected that the Article came from a SCP-033 compatible universe. Possible effects of SCP-033 spreading across the web is still being considered. A foundation AI has been set to scan for any proofs of SCP-033. Other pages were found to reference the anomaly.
The following is a snipping of the main Theta prime page, (with any possible proof redacted):

Another post for my Gran Lago timeline, where a massive lake in Southern California doesn't dry up and sticks around to the modern day (with some help). This time an organization. The thread for this timeline can be found here.

The Pacific Cooperation Organization (PACCO), also known as the Pacific Pact is an intergovernmental organisation of 16 members states and 8 associated members largely centered around the Pacific Ocean. Originally an American-led bloc of satellite states, it has since evolved into a free and equal community directed by the PACCO Secretariat, although the United States still has significant influence. The organization promotes cooperation through the Common Economy, a free trade bloc, the Common Security, a conflict prevention group, and the Common Defence, a collective military organization.

The formal peace treaty with Japan ending the Pacific War was signed in 1955, freeing Japan’s former colonies and putting the Home Islands under American occupation. The origin of PACCO begins in 1958, when the new governments established by the United States signed the Pacific Charter, declaring the principles of self-determination and self-governance, international cooperation to improve economic and social conditions, and the end of aggressive wars. The charter was not only aimed at the defeated militarists in Japan, but also European powers who saw their far east colonies not returned to them after Japanese control was wrestled away. While relations with Europe were seriously damaged, the nationalist movements and the governments that they founded became largely pro-American. The Pacific Community, the predecessor to PACCO, was founded that year as an American dominated free trade organization.

In 1985, the United States conceded to demands from Japan and Korea to delegate administrative duties to an independent Secretariat and the decision-making process was revised to be based on common consensus. Since then, the scope of the organization continued to expand and further economic integration. The current organization was formally founded in 2000, with the singing of the Manila Treaty, reorganizing the former Community into a free and equal organization. The treaty further expanded and reorganized PACCO’s purpose into three broad agencies:

Common Economy: A trade bloc, free trade zone, and common monetary system. It intertwines the economies of the member states by reducing trade barriers between the states, addressing intellectual property theft, and improving market access. In addition it organizes a common monetary policy through the Pacific Currency Board, who sets exchange rates and monetary value of the currencies of member states.

Common Security: A national security oriented group concerned with civil rights, conflict prevention, crisis management, and post-conflict rehabilitation in member states. Notable affairs it addresses are stopping the illegal spread of weapons, preventing conflict, coordinate disaster response, and ending human trafficking.

Common Defense: While it is not a conventional military alliance, it promotes military cooperation and coordination instead. It on provides intelligence to combat international espionage and terrorism through information sharing and cooperation between domestic intelligence and law enforcement agencies. It also coordinates large scale military exercises on land and sea to increase military readiness and experience in combat operations. It also maintains a newly formed common peacekeeping force.

The accession of new member states in the Americas, Asia, and Oceania since the signing of the Manila Treaty has further expanded the power of the Organization. Today, its full members cover more than 32,990,082 thousand square kilometers spanning three continents. In 2018, it has an estimated population of 1.11 billion people contributing a combined Gross Domestic Product of 42.08 trillion dollars. Associated members only participate in some sections of the Organization, although they may gain full membership in the future.
