TL-191: After the End

They are kind of like a slightly stronger Libertarian party and is more than likely going to remain there.... The Republicans are remembered as the party of two lost wars, unfair but no way around it.
America's political scene looks similar to Britain's OTL, with the Democrats replacing the Conservatives, the Socialists replacing Labour, and the Republicans replacing the Liberal Democrats.

True, although you could make this comparison with more countries than just Britain and to generalise like this is somewhat dangerous to the true intentions and motives of the American political parties themselves.

What about the Ottoman's wanting to liberate their Muslim brothers in Afghanistan/Pakistan from Japanese Influence???

A future war???

The Ottomans were for the Ottomans first last and always, not for Islam... Futhermore as the Ottomans will remain in control over most of Arabia ITTL then I just dont see Islamic exteremitism being a major concern....

I severely doubt that the Japanese will have any influence in the 'stans, and even if they did, it would be minimal, hardly something to 'liberate' from.

Also, the Ottomans weren't too concerned with the whole 'Muslim brotherhood' thing...

Well Pan-Arab feelings may be enough.

Well with the South in the Mud and American supremacy over the continent the republican might do some gains if there is focus more on a domestic agenda

Well Pan-Arab feelings may be enough.

1. The Ottomans are Turks, NOT Arabs

2. Nor, for that matter, are Central and South Asian Muslims

3. Without the Arab-Israeli Conflict to catalyze them, Arab Nationalism and Pan-Arabism will not be major forces in this timeline.

It is nationalist feelings, it doesn't have to make sense. The simply fact that the ottomans remain in power give credit to a pan-middle eastern state. You can see Arabs, turks, and whatever pushing for a greater unified state. Just as the Romanians did, just as the Greeks did, just as every single person in the world did.

Nationalism is just a unifying action, without the proper terms for the TL Pan-Arabism is as good as any other phrase for the idea. More importantly pan-arab feelings began before Isreal was even a nation, so it is more then reasonable that without the growing power of America, Russia and the UK that the Ottoman Empire could push a nationalist movement upon various muslim peoples. I mean if the Nazis could say those in the Ukraine are Aryans, then a Turk can find a way for a Pakastani to become just like him.

Maybe so... but I doubt any former-Confederate States... um, states, will be trusted for some time to come. What with, you know, having fought four wars in 80 years, and the whole nuking thing.

So we get the 'Kentucky State Police' again in the former CSA states. I forget if Luther Bliss is still in circulation but he just might be tapped to run a national secret police apparatus that would oversee operations for the newly readmitted states.

Bliss is still alive at the end of IATD. He meets Cincinatus outside Covington city hall when Driver is on his way back to Des Moines. Its the passage where its also noted that Lucullus Wood and his cohorts have been taken by the Freedom Party's programs.

Weren't Tennessee, Kentucky, and Houston readmitted in the Grapple?

I recall they were admitted before even being totally conquered, as a political ploy. It could very well be that they were "officially" U.S. states as of the end of the war, but without senators, representatives, or electors.

Are France and the UK still monarchies by this point or is Germany happy to have weak republican governments in power to reduce the risk of revancism?

I doubt the french king is still around, in large part because their (deceased) reinstated king was the driving force behind action francaise. In britain, I would imagine the monarch is still around, both to give some legitimacy to the new, german imposed government (think hirohito in japan) and because he is a distant relative of the Kaiser.

What about rebuilding the destroyed cities of UK and the destroyed Paris?

Both UK and France would be impoverished Nation do to the loss their infrestructure and their respective capitals.

Would Germany instigate some sort of german style Marshall Plan? Preventing extremism from rising in either UK or France?
