DBWI: What if Julius Caesar won the civil war?

For having Egypt out you will need first to prevent the awful kill of the young Queen Cleopatra of Egypt (who was assassinated in the throne room of Alexandria, allegedly on order of her younger sister Arsinoe or the tutors of their brother Ptolemy XIII) as the conflict between her and her younger brother/husband Ptolemy XIII (and most important his tutors) close to explode but with Arsinoe elevated to the throne after her death the situation became quickly less incandescent and then totally quieted consenting to Ptolemy XIII’s regents to send the Egyptian army (well as little men they can spare plus the fleet and gold) to help Pompey.
After that you need Metello Scipio to stay healthy as his father-in-law’s very bad illness was likely one of the major reasons of Pompey's victory (as it scared the other senators pushing them to stay away from Pompey’s command tent)

He could have gotten the people on side really quickly. Plus he did have a talent for raising legions even when he wasnt supposed to. Maybe he could have managed to whip up some volunteers.

I don't really know. Caesar didn't really have that much respect for the institutions of the republic. Neither did Pompey but he at least pretended to listen and the republic was able to stay in place after his dictatorship ended. Caesar would probably leave the republic unrecognizable after he left power, whether he did so willingly or not.

Egypt staying out helps, but if you still have Vercingetorix switch sides and break the truce with Julius, he is going to have problems. I always thought the failure to decisively win the Gallic Wars (leading to the truce) left Caesar vulnerable.
