I'm quite interested in hearing about these "other renewables" - biofuel, geothermal (wouldn't expect any), etc?
Great job of them getting oil and natural gas quite low, and no coal too!
Has there been an equivalent of the 1989 Geomagnetic Storm? How susceptible is the grid to such an event, or has there already been hardening against nuclear EMPs with a dual use?

Fantastic job with these graphics, truly stellar and beyond.

Thank you!!

The solar storm did happen as it did in OTL. It was harmful to the grid, and several things did go down. However -- should such a thing happen today it would have a devastating ripple effect across much of the system. Safeguards against EMPs have only been mandated since recently, and retrofitting is not a requirement, only the new construction.

Feels like things are falling apart in New England

It's been pretty unstable overall since Kirk was ousted.

snap election when?

HARM TO ONGOING MATTER

The SDP will get a chance to present a budget, i am intrigued.

Wonder if Labour will provide enough support to where it can at least get a decent vote (it won't be a majority but if the two put up a unified block it would be interesting, again though, winning over the Labour right in what will most likely be a social democratic budget which will mean higher spending and possibly an increase in taxes is a hard sell).

Right so just as real life forces me to take a break, @Kanan goes into overdrive...!

Budget passes

Um... yay?

Senate rejects budget

Oh, fun. More headaches for Carbone.

The reason it's only a "significant margin" - i.e. we don't know the exact results - is because the Senate meets in a closed session IIRC? Are there any proposals to change that? Also it's a relief to see things being rejected on constitutional instead of partisan grounds.

Oh, and I wouldn't be surprised if Kanan makes the white paper fail just to run another snap election. That is the plane of awesomeness she operates on.

Commonwealth election poll

This... now this intrigues me. Looking forward to seeing more of this.

One question though: is there a reason Empire's Guardians don't hold any seats in the House of Commons, despite winning seats in the Commonwealth Parliament? Do they even run in national elections?

*faints*

No, seriously, why can I only give one like? The amount of work you must have put into this is phenomenal. Please don't think we don't appreciate that, because we do. This just... I'm speechless.

Hello everyone!

I'm pleased to announce something I've wanted to do for quite some time for Our Fair Country -- the first contest! The rules of this will be pretty simple. Anyone who wishes to enter must create a "DBWI" (Double Blind What If) for Our Fair Country where something happens differently! An example would someone deciding that the Socialist Republic of Germany succeeded, and defeated the Commonwealth to secure Germany. This can be a Wikibox, a Map, a Wikiarticle, or a write up. Do what you want! I will accept entries from now until Friday May 10th!

From the entries, I will take the top 2 (chosen by me) and announce the winners. There's, of course, a prize involved :coldsweat: (Determined at the end of the contest)

Good luck to those who choose to enter! Any questions just DM me or catch me on Discord!

I'm also going to get to answering everyone's question's tonight. Sorry for the delay!

Ooh, a contest! Time to get thinking... I'll see if I can get an entry in by the 10th.

Again, Kanan, this is pure awesomeness. You are far and away the best in the business.

It's been pretty unstable overall since Kirk was ousted.
You know, if one looks at it, it's almost like the political play by play and "narrative" of this TL plays out almost like a three act structure, with Kirk's ousting being how we went from the starting setting to the rising action and all the other events casting off from it. But that would be silly, right?

You saying that makes me want to come up with summaries of political dramas/plays (non-canon, of course, unless Kanan okayed them!)...Broadway might not be in New England but it seems like Boston would have developed an independent theatre culture over the decades; it had a strong one until the advent of the television age. Hard to imagine Brooklyn wouldn't have one as well, though it depends what the Manhattan scene is like I guess.

A merger with the Latin Union, yes pls!

Adding schleswig as an independent member? What were they thinking!!

How well did Cassini Huygens go ITTL?

Is there some kind of stronger Nordic union seeing as they aren’t in the Zollverein?

Very good work!

Hopefully, this new pact won't force its members to go on CET (because Portugal and Spain on CET makes about as much sense as Ireland on CET)

Eh, as someone who often spends lot of time close to the Portuguese-spanish border on both sides, it’s not really a problem, I always feel like people overblow time zone or summer/winter time issues, people adapt and live perfectly well.

Complaining about time zones, except in extreme (cough West xinjiang) is peak first world problem IMO.

Maybe...?

The same as in OTL

Not to my knowledge, they are official trading partners and observer states so all of Scandinavia has the same relation to the Zollverein as Norway has with Europe OTL

All Hail Europe unified under CET!! :p
