Sorry for the late reply- yes, in our mod, Germany and the Entente win the Second Weltkrieg.

True dystopia :p

The CSA and AUS are no longer automatically weakened in the ACW when controlled by a player. No mention of the USA or PSA, though...

Finally. I'm sure it applies to both but I'll probably be playing some country other than an ACW participant in 0.8.5 tonight. I ought to try another SRI game, maybe I'll go Netherlands or Bharatiya Commune under Gandhi.

Thinking about playing as a syndicalist country next and just so I know what I'm getting into, can someone please tell me the pros and cons of syndicalism as a ideology? I never understood why it's so reviled in the Kaiserreich universe.

It's reviled because it's a socialist break from the capitalist status quo.

This is basically asking the US to accept dixiecrats re-legalizing slavery, at least to them. Of course they don't.
Aguably, was @President Earl Warren refering to internal or external, because if he means internal, then your anglogy is correct, but if means in terms of foriegn policy, it would be more like asking the US to accept that Brazil has reintroduced slavery?

I think they do not do that on a foreign policy basis, since other syndicalist nations can definitely go socdem?

Simply put, according to the syndicalists, everyone that is politically and economically to the right of Radical Socialism is engaging in a system of (In the words of the syndies in their own event chain) 'murder, theft, and exploitation', with even social democrats being viewed as (Again, this is from the CoF's own event chain) 'assistants and enablers' of said evil system. As such, they view it as their moral obligation to spread the world revolution by any means necessary.

Meanwhile, for everyone that is politically and economically to the right of the syndies have an issue with an ideology that accuse them of engaging in a system of 'murder, theft, and exploitation', and as such actively tries to destabilise their society, with the goal of eventually expropriating their property, overthrow their government, and most likely line them up against a war to be shot.

... My own political opinions aside, think of syndicalism in the KR as as being sort of like republicanism during the 18th century: A set of radical political ideas that greatly threatens the existing status quo, and for those in a position of power, your own life is literally at risk since the revolutionaries will at best tries to exile you, and at worst publicly guillotine your ass. As such, regardless of what kinds of high-minded ideals they might genuinely believe in, of course they will be reviled by anyone that is not within their ranks.

I was referring to a foreign policy outlook, what with spreading their revolution to the countries around them and backing red revolutionaries in Spain, Italy, the USA and other countries not to mention Frances blatant ambitions towards Germany

Kaiserreich has some less explored focus trees that can be taken, this time I'm going to use my greek campaign as one example, I hope you like the 4th Greek civilization!

To start, almost everyone thinks that for Greece to follow a autocratic path you need to lose against Bulgaria, but instead you can do it by promoting the monarchists during the referendum, but at the last event you decides to rig the election in support of the republic, thus causing a massive public uproar

This gonna provoke a popular coup under Ioannis Metaxas, the Greek autocrat at the time in OTL who became famous to resist to Mussolini

The expansion of Greek lands is considerably easier since you became Pat Aut you are able to create casus bellis in less time.

Politically speaking, basically you are a constitutional monarchy with the power concentrated in the King, on the aristocracy and on the military, think of post 1906 Russia. You get the option to go for a benevolent dictatorship, something like Dmitri Romanovich Russia, Vargas Brazil or Ferdinand Bulgaria, or to a iron fisted autocracy, of which the best parallel I can make is OTL Salazarist Portugal

Going through the Iron Fist route you are able to mobilize even more manpower, making things easier for Greece since it is their main debilitation. This route also has more PP than the normal monarchist one and the only lowpoint is stability, that can be increased with PP, so you have the damage control.

At the end you can return your capital to Constantinopolis and on this gameplay I broke Turkey into Turkey and Kurdistan, total revenge for 1453.

To go inside the regime, I imagine it would be like the Portuguese New State dictatorship since it is a very, very authoritarian regime, a religious one with no elections or just one party elections (if you take the Velvet glove you can have all parties try to collaborate with your ideals), a extensive conscription that probably is very unpopular, but at the same time due the massive conquests, the economical prosperity and the growing influence over their neighbours the regime stays more popular and healthier overrall than OTL Portugal.

The one complaint I have is on this spoiler below:

The turks keeps this province, something that doesn't makes a lot of sense for two main reasons: The first is that it would allow Greece to have a better connection to rhodes, so leaving it under turkish control would put the island at risk when/if turkey breaks free. The second part is that it was considered greek land by the megali idea.

It's TTL's analogue to communism, so all the established powers hate them.

Out of universe, it's hated for memetic reasons. Syndicalism is similar to councilism and has a heavy emphasis on direct democracy and egalitarianism, which angers a lot of players who just got off of 4chan and want to physically remove the commies with Pinochet's helicopter rides.

In universe, it's basically, everybody at the factory gets together for a meeting once a year and figures out the plan for the coming year, then picks somebody to be foreman for the next year and sends someone to an organizing council to represent this factory's interests. Mechanically they work like every other country in the game, regular elections for most of the fleshed-out ones unless you go Totalist.

In addition to what others have said, in-universe there are also different strands of Syndicalist thought.

Broadly speaking the most authoritarian of these is Totalism, which describes the authoritarian types of syndicalism and also contains Nazbols (sorelians) stalinist equivalents (Sorelians, Calles) and other such unsavoury folk. These guys are generally the worst of the worst when it comes to Syndicalism, usually being militantly expansionistic, nationalistic and in some cases anti-clerical.

Base "Syndicalism" is as described by prior posts, usually a democractic-ish regime, so long as you're not to the right of radical socialists. Generally as an egalitarian lot these regimes are alright (ending white australia policy, being pro-womens rights etc) but they have their downsides.

Radical socialism on the other hand is a catch-all term for ideologies too left to be soc-dems and not authoritarian enough to be totalists. Radical socialism is the MOST pro-democratic of the three left ideologies, and contains anarchists, some actual socialists, agrarians, christian socialists and more. Mind that these guys can have their dark sides, in the form of Centroamerica pursuing hispaniscation policies for instance.

Totalists are handled as a different ideology from syndies, though. In-game it's a reaction to the perceived inefficiency and slow military buildup of the main Syndicalist powers, and plays into ultranationalist sympathies (Mosley wants Direct Rule From London (tm), Mussolini is literally Mussolini, etc.). The totalist tag is also used for remnant Leninist/Stalinist authoritarians like Marcel Deat, but the core ideology is essentially a batshit crazy totalitarian mashup of fascist ultranationalist centralism and bastardized Stalinist command-economy theory. Hyper-militaristic, totalitarian, and insane.

Radsoc is an umbrella term covering everything on the left that's relatively libertarian but not really as industrial-focused as the syndicalists but still overthrowing the capitalist system. Christian Socialists, agrarians, and so forth fall here, as do some anarchists. To call it more democratic than the syndies is kind of incorrect; both will have generally similar political systems at the end of the day, with decentralized power and a lot of direct democracy and grassroots activism, while the ideologies flagged as totalists range from "'70s Yugoslavia" to "Literally CommieNazis". Radsoc and syndie governments tend to effectively shut out most right-wing views due to the structure of the political and economic systems, though (in the Union of Britain, for example, where every adult is enrolled in a labor union from the age of majority, the central government is formed of delegates from regional labor councils; anyone advocating a return to capitalism will first have to convince a majority of the guys on the factory floor to sell the factory back to some rich guy, and then deal with opposition from the entire TUC, and obviously this is not a winning strategy even without Supreme Leader Mosley).

Syndies proper are syndicalists, councilists, and others on the left who generally follow an industrial-focused, union-ownership-of-means-of-production model and so on.

Most of the socialists, especially the syndies, are aggressively egalitarian and pro-women's rights and minority rights. For example, the American syndicalists ban racism and ram through an ERA equivalent in the 1940s, going so far as to have the gay rights movement starting up (IIRC a legal oversight even lets gay people adopt), and their post-reconstruction events largely seem to focus on the challenges of actually putting their program into action and ensuring that all the racists in the country don't do a racism while still not turning into a totalitarian regime (there's an event in-game where a documentary comes out showing insufficiently egalitarian behavior by various factory foremen and union organizers, and the government is like "this is bad, we need more progress").

In-game radsocs include: Niclas Y Glais (wants to decentralize the Union of Britain into an EU-esque system with independent Scotland and Wales), Gandhi, the CNT-FAI (anarchists and ancoms), and Nestor Makhno (potential France leader and former head of the Revolutionary Anarchist Insurrectionist Army), Pancho Villa, Salvador Allende, Fanny Jacobvsky. These guys are typically rural populists and left-wing liberation heroes, and tend to have more idiosyncratic or less-developed ideologies.

In-game syndies include: Elizabeth Gurley Flynn (potential President of the Commonwealth of America), Arthur Horner, Annie Kenney (former suffragette and pacifist UoB politician). Many of these are women.

In-game totalists include: Literally Mussolini, Big Brother Oswald Mosley, Dear Leader Lavrentiy Beria (notorious pedo and crony of Stalin OTL), Georges Valois (insane, rabidly antisemitic possible French CommieNazi leader), Bill Foster (AKA Child Soldier Man, thanks to new fluff for his plan for authoritarian red America), Supreme Bandit King Fonte (a straight-up bandit in shoddily-dyed red clothing).

In-game stalinists (flagged as totalists) include: Marcel Deat (who can become such an asshole that Gamelin lets the NatFrench back in to spite him), Earl Browder.
