Crusader Kings II - Paradox Entertainement (02/12)

I'm not sure if this is the most sensible place to post this, but one certainly believes it to be the Best - has any Team ever created a Mod of CRUSADER KINGS that allows players to assume the role of Monarchs & Vassals in Calradia, core setting for those MOUNT & BLADE games published by Paradox? (It seems a natural "Crossover" and it recently occurred to me to wonder what character traits from CRUSADER KINGS might suit the various NPCs from MOUNT & BLADE).
There was once a mod called Calradia Kings with the aim to do that. But I haven't heard any news of it for a while...
 
I don't know where else to put this, but I tried to figure out how modern goverments would work in CK2. Maybe for an After The End mod, but worldwide.

Presidential Republics: Work much like Merchant Republics, but Families are replaced by Parties, who compete for the control of provinces by *insert mechanic here*. Each province votes for a candidate for President, a candidate for Governor, and a number of Representatives depending on the holdings in each province. The president rules over the realm and appoints his cabinet/council, but the laws of the realm and much other stuff, are decided by a house of representatives: a separate court under a Speaker vassal to the president. Rulers can hold City and Castle holdings, and depending on separation of church and state, also Cathedrals. The noble class is completely replaced by military ranks, and it's suboordinated to burghers.

Of course this would work like shit in actual gameplay, if at all. But whatever, let's get to the titles!

Realm names:

Barony: City, District (castles), Diocese, Parish, Mosque, etc. (temples, depends on religion)
County: City-State (if independent), County, Department (Latinamerican/French culture), Province, Prefecture, and so on, depends on culture...
Dukedom: Republic (if independent), Province, State (American culture), Military District (if under military rule), etc...
Kingdom: Republic (if independent), Commonwealth (British and other cultures), Autonomous Republic (various cultures)
Empire: Confederation (if independent), United States (American Culture), Union (as in European Union, various cultures), Federal Republic (various cultures)

Republican Ruler titles:

Baron: Collides with Mayor, but could be Representative.
Count: Mayor, Intendent, (Iberian/Latin American culture), Prefect, and so on...
Duke: Governor, and all the local names you can think of for governor.
King: President, Premier, Prime Minister (yeah, I know), etc.
Emperor: President and all its equivalent title.

Speaker: A special title that always exists. He actually does not have any particular perks, but his court houses the House of Representatives, Parliament, or however it is called in different cultures. He might be considered a religious head but for, you know, the government. For REAL headaches, there could be also a Senate with representatives from holdings of Dukedom title to above.

Noble (military) Ruler titles:
Appointed and removed at will by the government. Can take over in a coup. They vary by culture, of course.
Baron: Captain(?)
Count: Mayor
Duke: Colonel
Kingdom: General
Empire: Supreme Commander, can vary by culture (Generalissimo, General of the Armies)

University (theocracy) Ruler titles:
A Republic might choose to secularize entirely and turn church land into educational districts. They elect random characters from themselves, much like theocrat baronies, but they have no religious head and indeed can be of any religion. They are only loyal to the government. In theory they shouldn't be larger than baronies... but...
Baron: Dean, Chancellor, CEO, etc.
Count: Dean Emeritus, Rector, etc.
Duke: Provost
King: Grand Provost
Emperor: Administrator

With enough authority, a Republican ruler can make the House of Representatives and elections ignored or basically a formality. By then, he would rule much as a fedual lord, but with Republican titles.

Parliamentary System: Mostly the same as a Representative Republic, but the speaker, now Prime Minister, holds all the power and has the nominal ruler as vassal (see what I did there)? The Head of State is always one rank below the Prime Minister, but has the same titular title as him (if the Prime Minister is an Emperor, the Head of State is also an Emperor, but with the King rank) This makes the Head of State technical commander of the military, and indeed he has reserve powers, but never uses them. His only duty is to dispense noble titles to distinguish the military from you know Actual Nobles. A Parliamentary system might decide to ditch it all together, and there would be little difference. OTOH, the Head of State might decide in the right circumstances to dissolve parliament... permanently...

Military Junta: A Republic that has been taken over by a military junta. Military rulers. Works mostly like a feudal elective realm, basically, and eventually turns into one after too much father-to-child sucessions.

People's Republic: A single big dynasty, The Party, includes every single character in the realm, unless they are filthy burgeuois scum to be expelled and purged. They vote for a leader who rules for undetermined terms or until forced to retire by inter-party fighting. Imagine the Imperial government in vanilla, but with Communism. What fun!

County: Commune if indepedent, Special District (military administration), Soviet (Russian culture).
Dukedom: People's Republic if independent, Autonomous Socialist Republic.
Kingdom: People's Republic and all its variations (Democratic People's Republic, Socialist Republic, Soviet Republic, etc.)
Empire: Socialist Union of..., Soviet Union (Russian culture, obviously), and so on.

Republican Rulers:

Barons, courtiers, anyone basically: Comrade.
Count: Still Comrade. (unless you have a special title such as Politiburo (council) member)
Duke: We are all Comrades.
King: General Secretary, with special titles for special ocassions (Dear Leader, Party Leader, Eternal President, and so on)
Emperor: Leader of the Revolution, Supreme Leader, Great Comrade, Heir of Marx, and all the dramatic things you can think off.

Technocracy:

Never has happened in history, but suppose the rulers of educational institutions take over and create a technocrat republic. Of course, CK2 can't simulate such a government. I mean, how to simulate the levels of intrigue, backstabbing, neopotism and ambition in academic administrations? Can't be done ;)

Barony: University, College, Madrassa, School, etc.
County: Grand University (if independent), University City, Eduactional District, etc.
Dukedom: Technocracy, (if independent) Admistrative District
Kingdom: Technate
Empire: Scientific State

Oh, I forgot about Corporate States, but honestly, the Merchant Republic mechanic works perfectly well for them.

The titles could be:

Rulers:
Baron: Shareholder
Count: Enterpeneur (if independent), Manager, Businessman
Duke: CEO (if independent), Branch Manager
King: CEO (if independent), President, Vice President
Emperor: CEO

And for the realm names:

Barony: Business
Count: Corporation, (if independent), Branch, Brand
Dukedom: Corporation (if independent), Industries, Regional Branch
Kingdom: MegaCorporation (if independent), Limited Corporation (if vassal)
Empire: MegaCorporation, Conglomerate

There was a (sadly dead) mod for CK2 called Crisis of the Confederation, a total conversion mod which takes place in an original space opera setting. In terms of mechanics and government types, it is probably the closest thing to what you're describing.
 
Sorry so when was the last patch i haven't played the game since pre holy fury due to a bug stopping me playing the campaign i want to do.

Played as Scotlands. From lord of Mann to Duke of Galloway to conquering half of Scotland via marriage then de jure conquest of the Isles with the last remnants being Kantes and Albany. Albany my de jure conquest - my king died in the first battle.

The game ended because apparently I've been an elective succession since i became king of Scotland. Fuck. Let's start again. I name my 2nd son - the better son - as my chosen successor, invaded Albany, conquered it, then went on a LOOOOONG crusade. Three invasion attempts, 10k men in total lost over the course of I think 10-15 years. Finally won while I stayed in Scotland after the last failure.

War ended, I declared de jure right to kantes on Norway. Through marriage alliances made by my papa - I'm now the 2nd son, King Arthur, son of King Robert II - I have Castile, Brittany, half of Britain (a single man is duke of so many duchies that it like's a giant slash in the island), Denmark, and FRANCE!!!!

I got my little slice of the north and united Scotland. After 200 years.

Now it's time for England.

I recently bought the China expansion and started a Tibet game. Bön is a very cool faith, however, I mostly made that game to interact with China... and I can't figure out how to. I do get random events which give me Grace or inform me about the worth of my Silk Road counties, but I can't find any window to actively interact with them, like say, how to invade them ( considering I have restored the Tibet Empire, it's only fitting...)
Anyone can help me with that? The wiki is pretty unclear :/

In completely unrelated news, am I the only one to find the Bloodlines utterly game-breaking?
Don't get me wrong I like the concept, but there are things about it that really bug me. Mostly it's that Child of Destiny thing. It pops up and then you have a huge Empire with an absurd amount of event troops spawning in the middle of nowhere. It just doesn't make any sense!

In most of my games the world is full of giant static blobs, so they are a nice change of pace.

Ah yes, I have noticed that Empires tend to get bigger these days. Or rather, empires that would have fallen apart in earlier versions don't.

Like at some point there was that Seljuk Empire that got really big (controlling the entire Arabian Empire, plus the entire Persian Empire, plus Anatolia and Thrace).
And then they lost the Empire title and got in its place something like 20 kingdom titles. Don't know why they lost the Empire/didnt't recreate it, but go figure.
I kept thinking the thing would crash down soon, considering a king's vassal limit can't possibly accommodate that big a kingdom, and yet it stayed around for like 200 years.
The worst thing might be how it fell though. See, the Pope had declared a crusade for Jerusalem (Seljuk territory) but it was rerouted to Thrace (which the Byzantines had taken back from the Seljuk a decade ago). So an anti-Bizzie Crusade, nothing unusual, right?
Except the Seljuk King, managed to convert to Christianity just in time to take part in it, get the most war participation and thus retake Thrace from the Bizzies. Great job for the Seljuk, hijacking a Crusade like that. But then you had that Christian King ruling Sunni dukes so clearly a revolt was coming that would finally destroy the Kingdom, right? Well, no. The guy ruled 20 years and died peacefully, not one revolt in sight.
WTF.

Except it seems the conversion messed up the Seljuk succession law because when the King died, the Kingdom splintered into something like 15 successor states, all ruled by sons of the old King, most of whom were overthrown by Muslims.

The whole thing was weird.
