Well it's obvious why.
Greenland is too far to the East, and Japan is too big.

I’m pretty sure Russia reclaiming Alaska is the equivalent of trying to buy back the defective blender you finally tossed at a yard sale for thirty bucks.
It's fixed, sort of, but now it has a sticker on it with someone else's name in sharpie, and it's the dumb kind of sticker that rips instead of coming off, and also whoever used it must have blended a lot of fish guts because no matter how much you clean it your milkshakes always taste like fish.
