So I came across some info about the Czech resistance movement and apparently they managed to set off a number of bombs in Germany, including in Berlin, very nearly assassinating Heinrich Himmler in February 1941. The only thing that saved him was a train delay meaning he wasn't in the train station on time when the bomb went off. What happens if there isn't the delay and the bomb does kill Himmler in Berlin?

The most visible sabotages carried out by the Three Kings were two bomb attacks in Berlin: one in January 1941 against the Ministry of Air Travel and police headquarters; and second, in the Berlin-Anhalt rail station next month, intended to kill Heinrich Himmler (whose train was unexpectedly delayed).

All it would do is replace a man who believed that he was the re-incarnation of King Heinrich-the-Fowler with someone that is also a nut. The horrors under his successor would continue - it might even increase under the premise to avenge their boss.

Actually, apart from being a Nazi, Heydrich wasn't nutty like Himmler. He was even more ruthless though.

Himmler's nuttiness made him less efficient. Heydrich might still have some of the pagan trappings etc, but they would not be allowed to interfere with efficiency. The SS would still be as evil as OTL, only better at it. This is sort of like the "kill Hitler" tropes - absent Hitler and with someone more practical/efficient running things Germany does better in the war. Even if Germany eventually loses, and they most likely will, Germany doing "better" is bad for everyone else.

People keep mentioning Himmler's paganism and general nuttiness making him less efficient/effective. Can you quantify or qualify how exactly that impacted things? Other than being silly and drawing derision from other Nazis I can't really see how exactly that negatively impacted his effectiveness in carrying out Nazi brutality.

Quantify, no, but given Germany/Nazism was in an existential struggle ANY effort the SS spent on its paganism, including some castle building, represents a waste of effort and resources. If Germany won, there would have been ample time and resources, in the middle of a war...

The SS winds up having less fun and loses morale bc Himmler's replacement doesn't want to cool pagan stuff. Fewer folks sign up for the SS and they do not have the manpower to do evil stuff. So I guess it would be a good thing if Himmler was killed.

Whilst technically true, considering the size of Nazi Germany's economy–and the economies of the countries it was occupying–the castle building thing was comparatively a drop in the ocean. If you're going to set the bar that low then half of what the German government did would probably qualify.
