WIP Map Thread

Progress on that map I'm never going to finish:

The countries of New Cevennes (Nouveau Cévennes) and New Brandenburg (Neu Brandenburg), both being semi-enclave states on the continent of Australia.

Worked on my 1980s-90s Punk map again today, projecting forward (semi-realistically) the trends of an old era. In Europe, I decided to sacrifice some realism for a more "punk" feel, and that involves wanking, so that's why you have a EU formed out of a super-Germany, though many peripheral nations extracted themselves from the EU in opposition to Franco-German consolidation. The EU and the Russian Socialist Republic (the Soviet Union successor) have now divided Europe into their own spheres of influence.

Africa will have a vast, complex sub-Saharan African Union overlayed on other union with a completely revamped map.

I also decided to change up Europe's map because the old version had way too many colors in it. Maps embed ideas, and when you give a unique color to Belgium but not Uzbekistan, you're embedding the idea that the former is more noteworthy than the latter. And that's true in a lot of history...but not in the future, and not in this map. I deliberately wanted to shift the focus away from Europe, because we have enough Eurocentrism in Alternate History hahaha.

Nothing wrong with that, that's just a product of who is an Althist fan. If we had Indian Althist servers, we'd have craptons of Gupta, Mewar, and Maratha wanks rather than Nazi victories, independent CSAs, and Kaiserreichs.

Thank you! I may have made the Lakes and the borders on the same layer because I'm very good at forgetting to make layers, so that might be an issue. I also don't know how to make it perforated.

Thankfully Inkscape makes it easy to add layers, and move objects/paths between them. All you need to do is add and name however many layers you want, right click on the object(s) you want to move to a certain layer, and click "move to layer...". Personally I'd have layers for the base, border, lakes, and rivers but you don't really need that many.

P.S. What Falkanner says is truth:p

Im trying to make a USA with as many states as possible, here is my progress so far, if you have any ideas for states let me know!

I saw an article in the not-to-distant past talking of splitting Philly and the 4 other SE counties off (Montgomery, Bucks, Delaware, Chester). There's Eastern Tennessee, Puerto Rico, and Southern Ohio

Because I am apparently humanly incapable of holding down a singular project, here's a WIP I'm doing of my first ASB timeline. The premise is that following the signing of the Treaty of Vienna in 1815, a zombie apocalypse occurs in West Africa. It rapidly spreads across the western coast and eventually into Europe and the America's. This map will take place in 1855, 40 years after the initial infection.
