2019 Turtledoves - (Closes 2/11/19) - Best Map Nominations and Seconds

Status
Not open for further replies.
This thread is only for Nominations, Seconds, and Nomination Corrections for Best Map. Nominated Maps DO NOT need to be from the Maps and Graphics Forum, but this is where the Nominations, Seconds, and Polls for this category will be housed.

Maps must have been worked on in 2018 to qualify

A Quick Overview:

  • All Nominations require Seconds.
  • Discussion-only threads are not eligible. There must be an actual timeline or story included.
  • Authors may request that their works NOT be considered for nomination or removed from nomination. If an author requests that their work be removed from nomination after a nomination and/or second has been made, then the nominator (and/or second) may make another selection. Note that it is up to the author to monitor categories in which their work is eligible and to request that they not be included in the Turtledoves in that nomination thread.
  • No self-nominations nor self-seconds
  • Each member can make only one nomination and only one second to another nomination per category.
  • Previous Turtledove Award winning threads are NOT eligible for nominations in any category.
For New Nominations please arrange the nomination as follows:

Best Map:
Title of nominated work (with Hypertext Link); author

To create a hypertext link to a thread:
Go to that thread and highlight and copy the thread url in the web browser navigation bar, then type the title of the thread in your post, highlight that title, then hit the hypertext link button just above your message area (chain link), a box will pop up in which you paste the url, and that should do it. YOU MUST INCLUDE A HYPERTEXT LINK IN YOUR NOMINATION.

Please format a second to a nomination in the following way

Quote the nomination using the "Quote" function. and below the quote please type:

"I second the above nomination for:
Best Map: Title of nominated work (with Hypertext Link); author"

CLARIFICATION:

Please do not go beyond Seconding a timeline, this creates clutter and makes it hard to find independent Nominations and Seconds when creating the polls. Thanks guys.

Also, as a reminder, please make reference to the correct formatting for nominations and seconds.

I don't know if that qualifies: but i used the same topographic layer for the Alexander, Achaemenids and Diadochi map and i started working on that part of the map(s)
shortly before Christmas. But i have to say i can't prove this in any way - had to save the files new and delete the older ones or i would have a total mess in my folder(s).

Or in short: i say, vow and know for sure that i worked on that in the last week of 2018 - but i really can't prove or backup this in any way.
And they also all include -2019- in the watermark and the signature as i planned to finish and post them in 2019 (wouldn't be possible any other way).

Now i don't know the rules for that kinda thing.

All other maps -all the the Europe ones - and any other from before are definitely from 2018 and were also worked on in 2018.

Best map: Peace Only Under Liberty; @Witch0Winter

Tough choice, i Europe in For All Nails by Bolshie Kiwi is extremely detailled, so is Political map of Europe 2040 by Procrastinatingtoomuch, and Our Fair Country's USA by Kanan, i also loved the colours of

Treaty of Birmingham by Imperatordeelysium and the projection of The New Cold war 2055 by Procrastinatingtoomuch, and well, also every maps by ReagentAH

I second the above nomination for:
Best map: Peace Only Under Liberty; @Witch0Winter

You're certainly not hurting for good maps to nominate. If that one doesn't qualify because it was posted in 2019 then I'll go ahead and nominate your map of: The Celts - 500-58 BC
