I took the title as meaning Sealion was a success and this a WI....

I'm finding your grammar a little weird. Halting.

If you weren't aware before you may have gathered before that Sealion is an operation that has its own sub-culture on the board.:) Its considered so impossible for the Germans to actually get across the Channel that its become something of a standing joke whenever anyone mentions it. Various lines such as "the sea mammal that dare not speak its name". Hence the rather loud comments posted in reply to your TL.

Your scenario is probably fairly accurate in that if the Germans did try waiting until the summer of 41 they would still get hammered very badly, especially if Goring lied about the success of the Luftwaffe in the Battle of Britain. [If he had been honest and the Germans had put a lot of effort into strengthening their air force as a result they would almost certainly still have lost but it could be a butchers bill for the Royal Navy especially].

I take it from your address and the grammar, that English is not your 1st language? Hence I suspect Temujin's comment but what you say is pretty clear and definitely better than most of us here I suspect would be capable of in a foreign language. Hope what I've said above is clear and you understand that the rather extreme reaction in some of the posts is just due to the subject you chosed rather than a comment on your actual scenario.

Interesting, Michael. I've seen a failed Sealion 1940 scenario, but not one in 1941 ... could have some interesting effects.

Your biggest challenge would be to concoct a backstory that would have Hitler believe that Britain was somehow beaten down enough to not be able to withstand an invasion. I suppose that if he postpones Barbarossa until Britain is defeated, that would free up enough Luftwaffe assets to make things continuously interesting in the skies above England.

That decision shouldn't butterfly away the Balkan campaign, either. ... Hmmmm, I could imagine a second Battle of Britain in the spring/summer of 1941 perhaps having enough success to make Hitler believe Britain's air force is beaten back enough to try an invasion. Of course, the RN and army are still a threat and would be plenty to beat back an invasion even if Germany truly did beat back the RAF temporarily, however unlikely that is.

More likely, Goering has just enough success in the Second Battle of Britain that he manages to convince Hitler that the Luftwaffe is triumphant and the door opened. If you really want, you can butterfly away the destruction of the Bismarck in May and have that participate in the operation. That'd really be fantastic ... the hopelessly outgunned Bismarck sailing with the scraps of the Kriegsmarine into battle with the RN sailing south from Scapa Flow. Great possibilities for battle porn there.

Utter ASB! Hitler wasn´t fully behind it and the Navy was in open opposition. This can never be more than a bluff, which it IMO actually was.

To make it more interesting have the Kreigsmarine able to get the Tirpitz completed in time as well. You have the Bismark and the Tirpitz, plus the Scharnorst and Gneisnaue (SP?) along with some of the DDs that did not get destroyed in the OTL. Throw in the Deutchsland and the Prince Eugen and you have a pretty respectable Task Force. Certainly the RN can throw together enough firepower to take them down= BUT if you are willing to sacrifice them to get the army onto British soil...

Sad thing about your scenario is that by Spring of 1941 the British Army is SO much stronger. And many of the beaches are fortified.

I take it from your address and the grammar, that English is not your 1st language?

thats true i'm from German/Dutch Origin, sorry for my bad englisch

its TL is littel bit ABS that Hitler decides to Invade England
but this AH is about "Operation Sealion" so Hitler made the decision ;)

I suppose that if he postpones Barbarossa until Britain is defeated,
that was the orginal plan of Hitler until Göring screws things up with "the Blitz"

I had to put invasion date on june 1941
because they need to prepare the Invasion (and UK the Defence)

in 1940 at Third Reich Nobody had something prepared for invasion of UK !
they only made plans, who Hitler had to decides on

INFIDEL... NOOOOO...
if you saw the movie Der Untergang (Downfall) you know how Hilter can get Berserk
if not here "best of" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkUzfAfwP1A

i think Göring and Raeder scream some thing like that
"WIR HABEN ES NICHT GEWUSST" (WE HAVE NOT KNOW) follow by sound of guns

thats true i'm from German/Dutch Origin, sorry for my bad englisch

No problem. Its far, far better than my non-existent Dutch.;) Needs a bit of efforts but fairly easily to make out what your saying. Just that you hit something of a reflex zone for a lot of the long time residents, hence the rather strong reaction of some of them.
