The Yankee Dominion: A Map and World Building Project

Yeah there is definitely some confusion between Beto (who basically matches the cultural identity of Tejas to a T) who leads the left, and Jones (picked by Conservative Spanish to appeal to whites) who leads the Right.

Would have thought that Jones would have been part of shooters and fisher's rather than the CDP (which seems more like Ted Cruz territory).

Edit: in the second round of a presidential election however, maybe as he is NDP, he could get the votes from the right against a Liberals candidate (cause Cruz failed to get enough votes to make the second round).

Also has anyone done anything for the Nordics, I could do that possibly (for one country at least).
Sure.

On another note, school is back in session for me, so don't expect me to put out a lot until March. I will still be available on the weekend, however.

Alright then, (as a basis, since this is the Swedish Empire's territory, i'll just use Sweden as a basis, poor Finns). I'll edit and add parties as i go on.

Political Parties of the Kingdom of Sweden:

Major Parties (Over 20%):

Labour Party of Sweden (LPS) -
Centre-Left (Social Democracy, Economic Liberalism, Neo-Liberalism)

The largest party in Sweden and the dominant party at that, they have been a large part of the power within Sweden over the last 50 years (being in power for 70% of that time), that time however may be waning, despite this, they still remain the largest party (even if it isn't their previous 2 to 1 advantage they had over their next best party they enjoyed in the 90's and 2000's). The party has been described as a coalition of some Social Democrats and Liberals, with the party having a bit of both in their party platform (which has made them largely appealing in the past).

Sweden Party (SP) - Right-Wing to Far-Right (National Conservatism, Economic Nationalism, Swedish Nationalism, Social Conservatism, Euro-scepticism, Right-Wing Populism, Anti-Immigration, Republicanism)

Sweden's largest right-wing party has had its ups and downs. It has again come to national prevalence on the back of large frustration with many factors within the country as well as a wave of right-wing populism. The Sweden Party is back up to being the 2nd largest party overall. They also are a supporter of Republicanism generally, however haven't made it a major issue (especially as they have to work with the Royalists if they are to win power).

Royalist Party of Sweden (RPS) - Centre-Right (Social Conservatism, Economic Conservatism, Monarchism)

The Royalists and the Swedes have been interchangeable as the largest party on the right for the last 20 years. The Royalists are the oldest party in the country, in their 175th anniversary. They are a more classical conservative party which advocates for the monarchy and its importance in Swedish Society.

Minor Parties (Under 10%):

Progressive Party of Sweden (PPS)
- Left-Wing to Far-Left (Democratic Socialism, Eco Socialism, Left-Wing Populism, Euro-scepticism)

A Party formed by some of the more left wing LPS members as well as those from the Greens Party of Sweden (GPS). The Party has some former communists amongst its ranks and is the most left-wing party that is represented. They are very progressive in its social views as well as advocating for a socialist economic model (including the increase of taxes but decreasing of general costs of living in other areas).

Pirate Party of Sweden (Pirates) - Centre-Left to Centre (Pirate Politics, Economic Liberalism, E-Democracy, Direct Democracy, Freedom of Internet, Social Libertarianism)

The Pirate's in Sweden have more of a Libertarian flair. They advocate for a more direct approach (with voting on their platform conducted online for the term, along with the priority) as well as direct voting on leadership. They advocate for the complete freedom of the internet away from government interference. They are socially Libertarian, stating that the state shouldn't be involved in any domestic matters.

Green Party of Sweden (GPS) - Centre (Green Politics, Green Liberalism, Economic Liberalism, Social Liberalism, Agrarianism)

The current iteration of the GPS are a neo-liberal, Greens and rural party that are concerned with both environmental issues as well as Rural issues. They advocate for lower immigration numbers to limit the environmental impact as well as the full transition to renewable energy (along with the banning of plastic bags and other little environmental policies). They have moved more towards the centre since many of its left wing had left to form the Progressives.

Christian Party of Sweden (CPS) - Centre-Right to Right-Wing (Christian Democracy, Social Conservatism, Economic Populism)

The Christian Party is popular amongst the more religious section of the public but don't have much traction either due to the Royalists and Swede's being far more popular and established parties on the right. They are however looked to as minor coalition partners for either of the two in their voting bloc.

Micro Parties (No Parliamentary Representation):

The Reds - Far-Left (Communism, Marxism-Leninism, Democratic Socialism, Eco-Socialism, Anti-Capitalism, Revolutionary Socialism, Scientific Socialism, Feminism, Euro-scepticism)

Formed out of the more out and out communists from the remnants of the former Marxist Party, the Reds are a properly socialist movement. They have taken seats in Stockholm and in Helsinki as well as in Malmo at a local level.

Just remember that Sweden hasn't always ruled the Finns, they were ''liberated" from a nationalist Russian Republic, during the Great War. Think of Frankfurt Germary, and how the congress treated Poles/Danes and was rejected by the Bohemians.

Ok i got through a number of parties, thinking that Labour would have like 35-40% whilst the next best (the Swede's and Royalists) would be in that 20-25% region each with a bunch of minor parties after that (between 3-6%).

Not sure if anyone actually did this, but what about the sporting scene on the Australian continent.

Major Sports in Antipodea

The Country is absolutely sports mad, with the nation priding itself on its ability sports wise.

Major sports:

  1. Football - Much like the motherland, football is the national sport of the french speaking nation. Punching well above its weight, it has produced some quality players, with their entire national team playing in top leagues across the world and hovering near the top 10 constantly, with the domestic league considered one of the best and most popular in Asia and outside the major european leagues (with average attendances of around 25,000 per game) as well as having a popular 2nd and 3rd division (with a football structure going 8 divisions deep, 4 of which are fully professional). Biggest Clubs: Royale Napoleon C.F (Port Napoleon), Athletico Napolitano (Port Napoleon), SC Louisville (Louisville), Saint Denis F.C (Saint Denis), Olympique Nouvelle (Nouvelle Lyon) (OTL Equivalent: Ligue 1 minus PSG)
  2. Rugby Union - Another national obsession. Union has always typically been the main winter sport (Football is played in the Summer months in Antipodea, matching the European season), with the National Team consistently amongst the top 5 in the world.
  3. Cricket - This one is a bit strange, a French colony playing cricket, but how? You can thank their southern neighbours for that. They have a highly competitive domestic league (Boucilier Domestique) that is well funded and attended (with players from overseas coming to play there). They are famous for their bouncy wickets and quick pace bowlers and have a history of good batters as well.
Minor Sports:

  1. Basketball - Has a large degree of popularity, especially amongst the youth, with the country being able to produce plenty of NBA talent (at least 2-3 in every NBA draft for the last decade) with a reasonably popular domestic league (which is shown on TVA in the winter, the same one that shows football and the largest and most popular tv network in the country). The most popular easily outside of the Big 3 and considered the second most popular Winter sport.
  2. Rugby League - An import from England and their southern neighbours, the sport is much less popular than Union but still has a following and a domestic league of its own that is televised (however, most of the best players head south or to Union).
  3. Tennis - A sport that has a high amount of social participation as well as following when major tournaments are on. Their have been some top tennis champions that have come from the country in the past but their has been no grand slam winner in the last 15 years.
Major Sports in Nieuw Holland:

Nieuw Holland has a long and proud sporting history of its own in sport. Its sporting history is rather different than its colonial holder however.

  1. Rugby Union - Yes Rugby Union is the most popular sport in Nieuw Holland, despite having never taken off in Holland proper. More often then not, considered amongst the top 2 or 3 nations and usually very competitive at every major tournament.
  2. Cricket - Cricket is a hugely popular sport, with a wide range of pitches that vary (from the grassy wickets of Williemstaad, to the bouncy pitches at Zwaanstaad to the dry decks served up in Hartog), which have made the cricketers able to handle many different situations. The domestic league is considered the best of the continent and the best in the world behind India and County Cricket, attracting some of the best players around the world to play domestically.
  3. Football - Football, whilst not as popular in Nieuw Holland as it is in Antipodea, is still hugely popular and considered the third biggest sport in the country. it has a national team that have become world cup regulars and amongst the best in Asia. Its domestic Structure is 4 divisions deep, with the top 2 divisions professional (below that, the 3rd division is semi-pro and the 4th division is amateur). The sport is played mainly in the winter (aligning moreso with the other Asian competitions). (OTL Equivalent: J-League)
Minor Sports:

  1. Australian Rules Football - Where the game failed to gain any traction in Antipodea at all (their citizens left bewildered at the concept and the game never gaining any traction), its western neighbours have taken well to the sport over the last 30 years, with the country having its own domestic competition (with 8 teams) that has national televised coverage.
  2. Rugby League - The game in Neiuw Holland has a similar status to what it does with its French speaking neighbour, a pretty popular sport that lags behind Rugby Union. Unlike Antipoedia, it doesn't have a professional domestic league (only having a semi-professional one), with it having teams in the NRL (2 in Zwaanenstaad, 1 in Williemstaad and 1 in Hartog).
  3. Baseball - The only country on the continent where baseball has any kind of popularity, it has a 10 team baseball league which is featured on Free television and pay tv jointly. The sport became popular around 40 years ago as a result of American migrants and has grown from there to become a fixture in the summer sporting calendar.
Major Sports in New Wessex:

The country has a proud sporting history in sport. Aussie Rules and Rugby League are by far the two most popular of the sporting codes however as some of the others have suffered as a result.

Major Sports:

  1. Australian Rules Football - The most popular sport in the country, especially in the south of the country it is by far the major sport, with 10/18 teams in the competition based in the south of the country. It is the best attended competition on the entire continent (averaging 32,000 people per match). The only country other than Nieuw Holland to play it at a high level so their isn't much in terms of an international scene.
  2. Rugby League - The most popular sport in the Northern portion of the country and in the largest city (where 10 of the 18 teams herald from there and another 2 in its metropolitan area). The game does have some popularity in the south however, probably the 2nd most popular sport there as well.
Minor Sports:
  1. Cricket - A sport that has lost some of its lustre in recent years due to scandal and has fallen well off the pace of the two major sports. Domestically the sport is well behind and could easily be categorised as minor (due to administrative errors, their Western and Northern Neighbours have both overtaken them domestically), however, for international matches the sport remains strong and very well attended. With the game being stuck on Pay TV and the increasing popularity of Aussie Rules and Rugby League, the sport could become a minor sport in the coming years.
  2. Rugby Union - A fallen giant of the sport. From its once mighty peak in the early 2000's, the sport has taken a nosedive into being largely irrelevant, stuck behind a paywall for the most part. The domestic league itself is on the verge of collapse, with most of the clubs running at loses besides four of the biggest clubs, suggesting they will need to downsize. The best players head west
  3. Football - The sport was mainly played amongst migrant groups. The sport never really garnered any kind of mainstream attention domestically. Despite having a domestic league that is professional (and very new, only 15 years old), it only consists of 10 teams, with most of the best players heading north to play in Antipodea. Despite this, the country has qualified for the last 3 consecutive world cups (after having failed to get into one in over 30 years) and has made the quarter finals and semi finals of the last two asian cups (won both times by Antipodea). (OTL Equivalent: Slightly worse A-League/K-League)
  4. Tennis - Hosts one of the 4 major tournaments as well as having produced former grand slam winners from both the men and women's side. They continue to be a rather strong Tennis nation, however, maybe not as strong as they used to be.

Yeah but theirs Victoria there also, also New South Wales doesn't role off the tounge.
IIRC, Victoria split off from NSW in OTL so I’d say it realistically could be all called New South Wales, but I’d like to see it get a different name though

Also did we ever figure out what was going on with NZ (like the north was british and the south was french or something along those lines).

NZ remained a 'protectorate.' what this meant is that while the islands fell under the UK, she had little resources or reason with America/India to pursue full on colonization. Settlement was less of a priority, and what was there was limited to a few areas. Instead, local rulers, aka the Maorir, are empowered to rule under the British similar to the princes of India.

So while the islands are still British, there is a different identity and pop numbers going on there. This is why the region is currently called in our country list Aotearoa.
