Mazdean Persia.
Here, Islamic invasion moved west and was Rome/Byzantium to be subdued by Islam.
Persian Empire evolved in a merchant oligarchy in XVIII century

In this TL Mohammed failed and Islam didn't develope.
Persia and Byzantium still fought the war in VII century, but without arab invasion Byzantium managed to retain Afric, but eventually also Constantinople fall and Alexandria, at last, took the imperial mantle.
In XVI century the fought between the Emperor and the Pope in Alexandria endend in a decively Papal victory, leading to a "mild" theocracy that lasted until XIX century.

The flag has the red, white and black arab colors and the Cross of the coptic church to simbolize the preeminence of the Papal Authority.
The order of the colors is different from Homeline, with the white diagonal refering to Nilus-

Some new flags from my space project, Overheaven.

The first is actually an update to one I already shared. This is the new version of my Venus flag, with the yellow and green reversed. The reason? Because Venus rotates backwards, and I thought it would be neat to hint at that, by presenting the symbolic stages of Venus' history (yellow for pre-terraforming, blue for the early stages of terraforming, green for biotic terraforming) in reverse.
RetrogradeVenus300.png

Now for the new flags I made just today.

The first is the flag of the Martian Assembly. I really, really, really, really like the classic Pascal Lee flag for Mars (the OG red-green-blue tricolor), but I wanted something more my own. Plus, it occurs to me that blue would make more sense as the second color, if you're trying to represent the sequence of terraforming Mars. Anyway. Just like how my Venus flag has a red star to pay homage to the Soviet Union (the nation responsible for originally exploring and colonizing Venus), the Mars flag has thirteen white stars to represent the United States, which landed the first human being on Mars in 1976, and out of all the nations which colonized Mars (Japan, Canada, Britain, Mexico, Turkey, Germany, France, Australia, the Philippines), America was always the most prominent presence on the Red Planet, and has always had the greatest legacy on Martian governance and the Martian cultural predisposition; just as the young American republic looked back to the ancient societies of Athens and Rome for inspiration, Mars in many ways considers itself the torchbearer of what the now-mythologized United States represents, almost two centuries after its collapse. The white circle with the chevron is an alternative take on the traditional symbol for Mars, which I felt was too closely associated with the masculine gender; to clarify, I didn't want to use a "gendered" symbol for Mars for the same reason why the traditional Venus symbol isn't on the Venusian flag. The chevron can also be interpreted as representing Olympus Mons, or the upward mobility, dynamism and fighting spirit of the proud and brash Martian people.

The flags of Mars' moons are definitely all similar in appearance, but I made a point to use different colors and shapes for each one.

Phobos.

Deimos (definitely my favorite of the moon flags)

And then there's the two counterfactual moons that I'm playing with including. See, the same primordial POD in the Late Heavy Bombardment (4 billion years ago - surely not the sort of POD that would butterfly a successful Sealion into existence, no?) which gave Venus its counterfactual moon, Neith, clobbered Mars (increasing its mass from 38% Earth's size, to a more healthy 68%) and gave it two more small, irregular moons: Adrestia and Harmonia (named after the daughters of Ares, and the personifications of revenge and harmony, respectively). Yeah, maybe a bit of a weird thing to add, but lemme have my fun dammit. Anywho.

I like the flags but even if you buff Mars, the US has messed up big in the long term for focusing on it and not focusing on Venus. Is solar-powered communism with the chemical wealth of Venus dominating everything?

Mars gets a major, major head start over Venus, both in terms of terraforming and economic development. Helps that manufacturing was part of the terraforming process; big factories and refineries intentionally churning out CFC's to warm the planet. And for most of Venus' history, you could only live in what amounted to big balloons. The aerostat colonies needed to get all their metals from Venus' counterfactual moon, Neith (until automated mining operations in the early 2000's opened up the surface to mineral extraction). You're right that sulfur and carbon was exported from Venus. Like, almost all of it. Usually in exchange for hydrogen, which is useful for splitting CO2 into water and graphite. But by the time the carbon trade was gaining momentum, Mars was already ahead of the curve as the gateway to the Belt and Outer Colonies further afield, and today, it's more or less Earth's factory, with the second-largest shipyards in the Solar System (Luna beats Mars by a hair's width). Venus has only become an industrial power in the last 30 or so years. They do harvest lots and lots of solar energy (the crescent-shaped sun on the Venusian flag is a reference to the Cupid Array, which blocks and absorbs a good chunk of Venus' sunlight), but it's not really economical for them to export it; only Mercury has managed to run their entire economy with solar energy.

It's also worth noting that Venus isn't communist. They love the imagery, they're proud of their ancestors, and they might even be more willing to have socialist policies than the Martians are, but the average Venusian is very much a capitalist. Communism hasn't really been a relevant presence on Venus for about 194 years now. By the time the USSR fell in the 2030's, communism wasn't even very big in Leningrad. Venusians are more in love with the image of the Soviet Union, and its accomplishments as they relate to Venus, than they are with what the USSR really stood for. The red star, the hammer and sickle, and the initials "CCCP" have been interpreted through a distinctly Venusian lens. Those interpretations have been reinterpreted, mythologized, deconstructed and reconstructed, to such an extent that they carry a very different folk message in 2185 that what they originally represented in, say, 1917 or 1961. And the Martians are very much the same with how they view "Old America".

In this TL Kurdistan become an indipendent sultanate during the XVIII century following the defeat of ottomans by the hands of amore powerful Persia.
Kurdistan turned shia.
The flag has the colors of iranian peoples(white, red and white) but arranged in two hemblems, the sun for kurdistan and the green crescent for islam.

See for thyself, for 'tis be the Great Standard of the Holy Danubian Federation.

A horizontal tricolor. The yellow and green use the primary colors of the two main entities within the Danubian Federation (the Austrian Empire and the Kingdom of Hungary, respectively). In this short and ad hoc scenario, we see a World War I resulting in a white peace, where the Austro-Hungarian Empire collapses following years of agonizing economic hardship and the rise of ethnic conflict. In an attempt to preserve the nation, Emperor Karl I reformed the empire into a federal state, similar to the European Union, with a monarch as head of state while a democratically-elected figurehead commands the government: the Danubian Federation.

The red stripe symbolizes the Danube River, and commemorates those lost during the Great War. The white symbolizes purity, and as we can see, it separates the red from the yellow and green. This represents the fact that no entity controls the Danube, as it is for everyone regardless of ethnicity or national affiliation. As heraldic symbols, we see a simplified version of the Danubian Holy Arms: an Iron Cross (represents the unity of Germanic peoples and the role of the military) olive branches (in a contrasting manner, represents peace and how it sustains the federation) and of course, the royal crown (signifying how the king is ceremonially above all else). The black frame represents the people, and how it ultimately is the one factor that preserves the federation all together.

The Danubian Federation is able to survive through the 20's and 30's. In 1931, a second-round war initiated by Germany ultimately results in a German victory (the federation remained neutral, although it provided support to the Germans). It is not until the the 50's and 60's that the archaic monarchies see themselves getting rusty: in 1968, a revolution overthrows the Kaiser and installs a communist republic, while the Danubian king is deposed in 1969. The federation survives in several different incarnations until 1991, when a massive uprising divides the country into several, ethnically-homogenous states.

I have noticed a lack of fascist India flags, so I have made my own.

Let's imagine India loses a war against Pakistan (aided by China) sometime in the late 50's and early 60's. The result? A socialist authoritarian state with expansionist ideals, closely aligned with Pakistan and China. This India acquires nuclear weapons sometime in the mid-70's and gobbles up Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and parts of Myanmar. Initially an ally of the Soviet Union, fascist India soon becomes bitter enemies with them, taking China's side after the Sino-Soviet Split. It is not meant to be, however: Hindu nationalists feel threatened by the sudden intromission of Islam and Han Chinese, kickstarting several revolutions. The weakened state sees its end in the late 90's, after a US-led coalition invades from Sri Lanka and the British Indian Ocean Territory amidst fears of Chinese retaliation.

The flag is quite simple: a horizontal tricolor with a white Chakra in the center. The black symbolizes the people, the nation and the earth; the red symbolizes the blood of the fallen patriots, the struggle against imperialistic tyranny and the Hindu river, while the green symbolizes faith, sacrifice, chivalry and perseverance against aggression. I chose red and black since those colors are commonly associated with fascism and authoritarianism, while the green was already part of the Indian flag.

communist-revolutionary-flag.png

You know how every early communist country has a very crude, makeshift flag, usually during their respective revolution?

Taking that into account, here we have an Italian communist flag: essentially, a defaced Italian Empire flag, with the hammer and sickle crudely scribbled inside the shield. Made by revolting youths following the fall of Mussolini in 1943, the flag was flown in public squares and buildings, and worn as armbands by revolutionaries. Upon the arrival of the Allies, they received much support from the British, as they tormented retreating Germans and even took part in the capture of major cities, including Rome. After the war, such was the communist influence that a civil war broke out between reds and non-reds. The communists prevailed, and established the People's Republic of Italy.

This flag is pretty old, I think I did it back in 2013 or something, so I'm surprised I still have it.

Really nice flag but...given that green is often used to represent Muslims, and saffron to represent Hindus, I don't think that a fascist India would drop the saffron and keep the green. Unless I'm misinterpreting it.

I hear you. However, in this case the green's meaning was established to represent the "virtue" of humans: endurance, faith, generosity, etc. In OTL, that's the actual symbolism behind the green in India's flag. I wanted to keep elements from the actual Indian flag, so I didn't stray to far out.

Now for this rather satisfying flag of Mercury.

In the year 2185, the Confederation of Mercury, as of the last EarthGov census, has around 350 million citizens, though the Confederation is more than just the closest planet to the sun. It’s also the colonies of the Vulcanoid asteroid belt (V-Belt) and the myriad solar farms orbiting closer to the sun than Mercury or even the V-Belt, and the flag of Mercury reflects this “dual nature” of the Confederation. The bottom half is grey with a white Mercury symbol, and the top half is black with a golden yellow sun rising over the horizon. And together, the two halves of Mercurian civilization represent a shining new dawn.

Mercury Flag1 600.png

Some Lore, Because I Can't Help Myself:

Despite the planet’s close proximity to Sol’s burning gaze, Mercury has had a lot of development over the last couple of centuries. On the planet itself, about 45% of Mercury's 240 million sophonts live in huge domes built over the larger craters, with mirror-like outer coatings. Under the domes, one finds terraformed biospheres similar to those found on Earth, with artificial weather patterns and (perhaps ironically) artificial sunlight. Some domes are large enough to have large-ish lakes, entire forests, or multiple cities. Another 45% of Mercurians live beneath the surface, in the veritable maze of mine shafts dug into Mercury’s crust during the earliest days of colonization. Some have been expanded into huge cavities with subterranean artificial suns and moar artificial biospheres (think the GeoFront from Evangelion), connected by maglev bullet trains. Others are basically long hallways with rooms and homes dug into the walls (think the average city-station from Metro 2033), connected by modified mine carts. 9% of Mercury’s population live on the newer rail-colonies known as “nightsiders” - giant train-cities which stay on the move constantly to always remain on the dark side of the planet, where it’s cold enough for oxygen to freeze. The nightsiders operate huge refineries for the sundivers (more on them later). The remaining 1% live at Mercury’s poles, where they harvest the water-ice which forms in the polar craters, and use structures known as “star wheels” to generate energy off of the solar winds which gather there.

Sundivers are a human culture native to the V-Belt asteroids, mostly inhabiting the settlement of Ikaros Point. Known for their idiosyncratic religious beliefs, sundivers are cyborgs with between 90% and 100% cyberization, and their prosthetic bodies have distinctive, mirror-like “skin”. They dominate a relatively small, but very special sector of the Mercurian economy through their practice of sun-mining. They quite literally fly down to the surface of the sun in specialized starships, scoop up loads of molten stellar matter (they literally "seize the day"), and then slingshot to Mercury and sell it off to the nightsiders, who cool it down and extract all sorts of elements from the star-stuff. Other communities occupy Mercury’s L-points, or closer in towards the sun, and focus more on collecting solar energy. They tend to be as fiercely-independent as the sundivers, which is the reason for their highly-autonomous status within the Confederation. Mercury has abundant metals and precision manufacturing, the Cis-Mercury settlements harvest ungodly amounts of solar energy, and through their mutual understanding, the two have a stable symbiotic relationship, which, again, is reflected by the flag of Mercury.
