Hey, so I want to draw up a rough draft of the National parks (not including national monuments, etc owned by the Park Service) sometime today.
Do you guys have some ideas?

The Everglades could keep their Seminole name Okeechobee ITTL. The Great Smoky Mountains, Acadia, the Adirondacks, Yellowstone, the Pine Barrens, the Badlands, Banff, and Denalie are all good candidates.

Like that. I’m thinking of calling Acadia by its original name, Lafayette NP

map of the result of detente after the *cold war. @Oryxslayer thoughts?

Okay so, I'll go through and list the various changes.

First off, there was talk originally of a "Pan-Pacific State" earlier back before we even started the global discussion. Something Polynesian born out of the UK pacific colonies and Hawaii. Its the kind of thing that might even get the German Islands involved as well, but its a topic that requires more exploration.

Should Brunei and Sarawak be two separate states? They are both UK colonies. In a similar vien, should Indonesia be a unified country? The idea of a united archipelago was catalyzed OTL by the Japanese invasion, and without it the unification nationalists might not have the influence to counteract local elites. Especially if there is ideological/separatist revolts in the hinterlands - control is a big problem for Indonesia.

Burma's interior state from Pre-Colonial times is...Burma. So its gone. The Shan state probably still has some autonomy. Also, is the India-Burma border the same as OTL? The topography of the country and the demographic makeup of India makes it more reasonable for the territory West of the Arakan range to be part of India.

Are Vladivostok, Taiwan, and possibly Korea (question of revolution) still somewhat under Japanese influence? Or are all free?

Where did the Levant go? War? If so, I have to assume the Jews have some small federal provision within a narrow corridor of land in the Levant. If not, then I assume they take up arms to protect egypt.

I don't think Russia should loose THAT much of central Asia/Caucasus. The mountains though are the perfect target for insurgency.

Explain the Bosporus straights country to me. Russian proxy war?

I actually reallly like Africa. Maybe the only thing to add is a Katanga state.

Latin America hasn't really changed recently. Is it time to make La Plata change ideology, or have Colombia start shoving its weight around?

I’ll put the territory that we know it will have, and if we decide it will include the german islands I’ll add them.

Brunei and Sarawak I think should be independent, but we should see what other people think. In regards to Indonesia, it probably should be balkanized.

Ok then.

Let's go with that they're free, except for Taiwan.

Probably the former.

Ok, maybe the Kazakh countries will still be a part of Russia.

Neutral nation in Constantinople, created in the treaties after the Great War. Do you think it should be Turkish/Greek?

I actually reallly like Africa. Maybe the only thing to add is a Katanga state.
Sure.

Latin America hasn't really changed recently. Is it time to make La Plata change ideology, or have Colombia start shoving its weight around?
Probably the former, I really think that La Plata should have some sort of socialist revolution, as I have said above.

I dunno if I can get that national parks map done today (high school takes a toll), but we'll see.

V. 2.

@Oryxslayer what do you think?

EDIT: I feel like Ireland should be independent at this point, so I included them.

Finals are coming up, so I might not be as active, but I have a week off after, so I'm thinking about doing some work on the film industry. The first major part of this is the life and career of Georges Melies (guy who filmed the moon with a rocket in his eye), and I'm thinking of this. Basically, his company, Star Films, moves to America with is brother, Gaston. His company, not under the control of Pathe (which actually happens IOTL), avoids bankruptcy and becomes a major power in Hollywood and survives to this day. Any suggestions?

Indiana proposal:
Democratic: Made up entirely of whites elected ten years ago who just kept getting re-elected and never bothered changing party affiliation. No actual overarching political principles.
Ecology: An awkward coalition of wilderness preservationists and former People's members who thought the "Cordon Sanitaire" coalition was a bridge too far.
Federalist: Movement conservatives, along the lines of Martha Roby. Pro-business, moderate on social issues. Strongest among whites, but with extant wings among other ethnicities.
Heritage: A coalition of reactionaries, right-wing populists, and open bigots. The Roy Moore tenure seemed to discredit it temporarily, but it returned with a vengeance during the "Cordon Sanitaire" People's-Federalist coalition.
People's: Founded during the Civil Rights Movement as a vehicle for Black and Native voters to gain political power. Leftist on economics, liberal on social issues (although with a disproportionately influential more conservative wing). Absorbed most of the left-liberal whites from the collapsing star that was the Democrats.
Reform: Conservative white suburbanites, mostly Anglo, who were dissatisfied with the "Cordon Sanitaire" coalition. Likely to be reabsorbed into the Federalists before too long.

And also various independents.

Ahh, Roy Moore... the creepy racist uncle of American politics.
