Jade Spire, the Capitol of the Golden Empire of Yi Ti and one of the most important locales in the popular Fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire. Written by author Lin Weiwei, the series combines a fantasy world with a politically involved narrative based around the Three Kingdoms period of China. Two decades after the Huô Dynasty's overthrow at the hands of the new Lei Dynasty, the murder of the Lei Emperor results in a succession crisis between his former allies, House Qiangda and House Vinhcao. Meanwhile, Lan Mei, last heir to House Huô, seeks to reclaim her rightful throne, while far to the North, the Five Forts are threatened by the Dothraki, based on the Mongols, and mysterious Ice demons called the Others. The series has been praised for its writing and deconstruction of traditional fantasy tropes, and has gained a large following within the Qing Empire(where it is reportedly Crown Princess Lixuan's favorite series) as well as in Europe and the Combined Syndicates thanks to translations. Unfortunately, Lin is a somewhat slow writer, and the sixth book in the series has yet to be released. It has also been adapted into a television show which has met with critical acclaim but opposition from fans of the books.

LNER Class A3 4472 Flying Scotsman on the heritage route between London and Edinburgh. A one-of-a-kind steam locomotive built in 1923, it was employed on the long-distance London to Edinburgh runs, even after the British Revolution and the nationalisation and consolidation of British railways. It notably set a land-distance speed record in 1934 as the first steam locomotive recorded to reach 100 km/h. The locomotive gained immense stature during the Second World War, first hauling heavy artillery and armoured trains for the syndicalist Republican Army, then being commandeered by the Imperial Army during the Battle of London on high-speed troop transport runs, before being the locomotive that bore the distinction of hauling the train that brought King Edward VIII from Plymouth to London to mark the restoration of the United Kingdom. As well, it further survived many attempts at destruction by bombing, sabotage, or derailment. Though decommissioned from active service by the reorganised British Imperial Railways network after an additional close-to-20 more years on the line, the Flying Scotsman locomotive has remained preserved as an attraction for many a trainspotter, being used on heritage railway runs, publicity tours, and war re-enactments. The Flying Scotsman name endures as the name given to the non-stop high-speed rail service between London Empire Station* and Edinburgh Waverley.

*Originally named London Union Station, the station was built during the Totalist regime of Oswald Mosley as part of his grand aspirations for "Direct Rule From London", which included connecting the various inter-city railways, including the East and West Coast Main Lines and Great Eastern and Great Western Main Lines, at a central station located within walking distance of Charing Cross and Trafalgar Square, much like the Japanese had done with Tokyo Station, to replace the perceivably outdated Charing Cross Station. Rechristened London Empire and completely rebuilt following the Liberation, the station has been the hub of all high-speed rail services in and out of London since 1964, when the first line between London and Manchester and Liverpool via Birmingham was opened shortly before the Summer Olympics in London that year.

the Jennings family from the first season of the American show It All Comes Tumbling Down .It is based on an Amalgmation of true stories from the Underwood Era,with the substitute "Jennigs" family, a upper class American Family with the Parents,Philip and Elizabeth, working in the FBI during the Underwood era, While the two kids,Paige and Thomas secretly joined up with the "radical" resistance movements, Repsenting the many families who were torn apart by the War and insurgency. It shows in depth the Generation Gap which was in play during the Underwood Era and The Civil war 3.5,with many adults who had been born in the immediate aftermath of the Second North American War,firmly on the side of the NRC until the worst of the FBI's Purges and Warfare took effect in the late 1980s. It also shows the dynamics within the resistance movement with Paige secretly joining a Catholic group led by a kind Jesuit and Thomas joining a underground Syndie leaning Student Group with a charismatic doctor at the head, they have disagreements often and that sometimes effects how they work together. Meanwhile on the parent's side, it is incredibly interesting as you find how the Elizabeth and Philip can flip from loving mother and father to cold hearted Spies and killers. It is also Interesting to see how as they grow closer in their investigation of the Underground in Washington to their own children and loved ones they deal with the problem. They also deal fairly with both sides, often showing the less...glamrous parts of the resitence to Underwood and how ruthless it was sometimes willing to be. Ultimately the family reunited after The Dad and mom are almost Purged by their bosses for being insufficiently "devoted to the great reforging of our society." it is incredibly sad to see how the family members are torn apart from each other during the conflict. It is wildly popular throughout the USA and PSA, and is very highly rated by critics for historical accuracy,Incredible acting and deeply interesting plots.

2003 illustration of the then-experimental ESEL Condor single-stage-to-orbit spaceplane.

The ESEL (Experimental Stellar Engineering Limited) Condor was the first of its kind. Able to take off from a runway and reach orbit without the need of additional, non-reusable boosters, it proved to be more cost effective than the previous designs the ISF (Imperial Space Force) had been using, allowing for more frequent launches without going over budget.

Many important firsts would be set by the Condor series. In 2007, several Condor Mk.IIIs were used to create ISFS (Imperial Space Force Station) Sol Imperatoria, the first permanently inhabited orbital space station. In 2011, Mk.Vs would build ISFS Solaris Navifactiva, the world's first orbital shipyard, and even to this day Mk.XIs are used to ferry supplies to and from Earth to orbiting long-range spacecraft. That is one of the main drawbacks of the Condor: It's specialised for operating in orbit, while normal rockets, both launched from Earth or assembled in orbit, have always been better at long range missions, such as visiting the Moon, or the currently underway Operation Ares, the first manned mission to Mars.

Not to be outdone, the Kaiserreiches Deutsche Luftstreitkräfte built their first SSTO spaceplane, the Fokker V.80, in 2006, and built the second permanently inhabited orbital space station (and to give them credit where credit is due, they did build the world's first space station, and their first permanently inhabited space station was twice the size of the Sol Imperatoria. They also built the first Lagrangian point space station, though the ISF built the first permanently inhabited Lagrangian point space station, which also serves as a refuelling station, and was upgraded to be self-sufficient in terms of air, food, and water before the KDL's station).

Quick question, am I doing a good job at balancing the space stuff out? (I.e. the British Empire manages a lot of firsts, but so does the German Empire, and there are other players besides them)

The AUS is less interested in space exploration (though they have started to take more of an interest, partially because they are starting to become somewhat embarrassed that the nations they often criticize as being backwards and out-dated [primarily because they have monarchs] can so easily point to evidence that they are more advanced than them).

France is fairly heavily involved in space exploration, being tied for second place with Russia for having the most advanced space program and largest presence in space(First place is a tie between the British and the Germans). Both are among the four nations to have at least one permanently inhabited non-terrestrial settlement or base.
Both have permanently inhabited orbital space stations, and Russia has its own orbital shipyard. France could probably build its own, but they decided just to contribute resources to expand ISFS Solaris Navifactiva, since it was cheaper just to do that and share it with the British.
Both have made multiple Moon landings, and are planning to build permanently inhabited moonbases.
The French use a licensed version of the Condor for their SSTO space plane, while the Russians use their own designs (Russia is the only major player in space to have used multiple series of SSTO spaceplanes. All the others generally just create updated and upgraded models of their original design). Again, the French could easily make their own design, as they do produce the Condors they use in France, it's just that they felt it was faster to use a proven design, and since they share an orbital shipyard, and also have a number of joint space stations, it means they can borrow spare parts from the British if one of their Condors gets damaged in orbit.

Germany is the only nation in Mitteleuropa to have a space program, all the other nations just contribute to it, which is part of how they are able to keep up with the British (who have a larger population and resource base. Remember, India is a rather loyal member of the British Empire, as is Canada and Australasia).

The PSA shares a space program with Hawai'i, Puerto Rico, the Philippines, and the Free State of New York. They do not have any permanently inhabited non-terrestrial settlements or bases, though they do have a number of astronauts stationed on ISF or French stations, and have had astronauts visit ISF Luna. They also use a locally produced, licensed version of the Condor, though a significant portion of the government have been lobbying to create their own design.

Any suggestions for things I should change are welcome.

November 8th, 2007. Somewhere above Deutsch-Mittelafrika. Second Mitteleuropan-Russian War.

Russian gunship providing fire support for Spetsnaz troopers during the Operation Ivan Groznyy, the capture of Kaiser Frederick III International Airport, the largest and most developed airport in Deutsch-Mittelafrika.
The deployment of four of these gunships prevented the Spetsnaz troopers from being overrun by a reinforcing column of Panzergrenadiers.

With the seizure of Kaiser Frederick III, the Russians had an airbase in Mittelafrika to land heavy cargo and transport planes loaded with troops, vehicles, and supplies, and could station land-based aircraft to provide additional air support (The gunships are believed to have required aerial refuelling in order to fly to Africa and have enough fuel to provide fire support).

Their designation and exact capabilities are a state secret to this very day. Mitteleuropan soldiers called them Der Drache des Teufels (The Devil's Dragon), or Der Drache for short.

With Germany's military presence weakened, much of Mittelafrika would declare independence during or after the war. Most of them would go peacefully, as Germany had little interest in fighting a costly war against an insurgency, and much of the territory was underdeveloped to begin with.

Thoughts? I'm considering editing my previous post about this war, changing the dates so it doesn't last as long (it's a bit odd that Germany and Russia can be near the forefront of space exploration while fighting a massive war)

EDIT: Changed the dates so it goes from 2005 to late 2007. May change some other dates.

So @theg*ddam*hoi2fan what do you like best about the show?
Edit: I edited the post to make it based on a true story. is that alright with you? I kind of want to use images from the Actual Americans show in the future so I can expand on the story.

I like how you adapted the main idea into the universe so well, and made it about internal espionage and division rather than external.

It's a neat idea, but maybe just keep it fictional since ITTL House of Cards is based on a real character. One such is fine, but I worry that any more TTL examples of OTL fiction being based on reality ITTL could lighten things too much, make it seem less like a Kaiserreich TL and more like a mass fiction crossover.

How about I make it based on a true story, with the names of the characters being fictional but something like it actually happened with a family of an FBI couple. Would that work?

Could do...

Though now that I think about it you might need to change a detail. The US of the NRC era was fairly sexist - doubtful that a woman would have been anything particularly high-ranking in it.

The USSR was also rather sexist and yet they still had female agents and besides when Claire took control of the FBI she essentially made it clear that merit was the only thing getting you a promotion no sexist crap allowed, she even shot a few people to make her point.

I thought the idea was that basically Frank gave Claire the FBI, and that it was basically one law for her, one for everyone else.

I mean, the point of NRC America is basically an ultra-right, ultra-traditionalist state. I'm not saying that the wife couldn't be in the FBI, but she'd likely not be able to rise very high, even under the Underwoods, especially since their entire thing was using the NRC's usual stance to their advantage. Also, NRC America wouldn't have encouraged married women to work at all.

Why not have the husband be the agent, and his wife be involved in some kind of women's patriotic movement. That'd fit better.

So @theg*ddam*hoi2fan what do you think of the video games and which is your favorite?

I like 'em :D Especially Trotsky Attacks - they look pretty epic. Especially Britain as TTL's Empire of the Rising Sun :D

Do remeber these people are not praticuly high ranking they are essentially Field Officers who run survellince and beat down people they are told to beat down,THey are kept from advancing until the Underwood era due to Elizabeth being a woman, and even after the Underwoods take power they are often viewed negatively by other agents and officers to the point where one of them actively tries to sabtoge them out of pure spite at the fact that "a goddamn woman" was in charge. This is also taking into account they are exceptionally capable which got them the approval of Claire who personally gave their carrers a little push.

Yeah, but OTL female agents weren't allowed in the FBI until 1972, and that was in normal America. Here...no, it doesn't fit.

How about this, she was a agent in the much more relaxed CIA(the most Pragmatic agency in the NRC structure),who routienly used female agents even though they never acheive a higher rank than a second command post at a foreign station. She was noted for by Claire Underwood abilities when advising the new Cuban regime on how to crack down on dissidents and she decided to transfer her to be second of command in DC,with her husband as the head, to advance her liberalization campaign in the FBI.As you can guess almost everybody under her command hated her and distrusted her at first yet she earns their respect through increddiblly productive results and taking down a Resitence plot to kill the President, this was before the common people really knew who was in charge. Their is still a ton of sexism aimed at her and their is still that officer who is constantly out to sabtoge the Jennigs carreer's out of sexism. Does this work?
