A flag for the Black Lives Matter movement. The white band was added after the Justine Damond shooting in solidarity with white and other non-black victims of criminal injustice and the scales represent their call for a fair criminal and civil justice system.

I think you might try different shades, tints, saturations, and ratios for the colors. I find that you can get any two clashing colors to work well together if you find just the right versions of them. A lighter blue, for instance, would probably do the first and second versions a favor, and a more faded, subdued, fleshy-colored red would benefit all of them. It also has the effect of making it look more like cloth and less like RGB code.

I took some of the advice into consideration and decided to tinker with the second flag a bit, coming down to these four
IndLa2 2.png
Flag 1: The hues with the red stripes are brightened to a color to that of the original French flag with a lighter blue hue, both colors changed in their respective areas of stars as well

IndLa2 3.png
Flag 2: The hues with the red stripes are darkened to a color to that of the American flag with a lighter blue hue, both colors changed in their respective areas of stars as well

IndLa3 2.png
Flag 3: Both red and blue are darkened to similar hues of the American flag in a more weathered cloth appeal to connect to the green

IndLa3.png
Flag 4: Only the red stripes get the French red treatment with the blue getting the weathered American treatment

Quick Flag update for my TL

Flag Interlude #1

"The end of 1687 was not the end of rebellion. Though without leadership, small groups of Protestant extremists plagued the British Isles for a few years yet. The groups first began using orange as a reference to William III, Prince of Orange, whom they viewed as a martyr for their cause of a Catholic-free England. The flag that came to be associated with them was originally a combination of the English and Scottish flags, meant to show solidarity; over time, orange strips were used rather than red, to show a 'papist-free' England in Union with Scotland, which was viewed by many as already 'pure' given its large Covenanter population. Roll the hands of the clock forward a few centuries, and general modifications and corruption of descriptions results in the banner known today as the 'Orangemen's Flag', in which the white and blue of the Scottish saltire is inverted, that is used by a number of English-speaking organizations, both in the British Isles and not, that champion Anti-Catholic and often Anti-Judean agendas.

Here's a small low-effort things I did: a flag proposal for an Israeli-Palestinian federation.

It includes a blue stripe and a green stripe - representing, respectively, Israeli Jews and Palestinians, while doing away with the overtly-nationalist symbology (like the star of David) as neither side will be able to identify with the other side's national symbols, on a white background representing peace (also, white appears in both the Israeli and Palestinian flags, so it could be seen as a unifying element on the flag). A vertical stripe runs in the middle, connecting both colors - this represents socialism (because honestly, an Israeli-Palestinian federation would probably be quite left-wing), and it runs vertical to connect the green and the blue - thus it stands for solidarity between the working classes of both nations, and the red also represents the blood shed in the (now-past) conflict between the two peoples.

What if you add a gold stripe for prosperity and Jerusalem, and then a star to represent the Christian population (i.e. Star of Bethlehem)? :p

Woah, that flag does look similar!

(to clarify, I was not ripping off the Central African Republic's flag, and only noticed the similarities once I completed my Israel-Palestine one)

Quick one for you: the flag of the Commonwealth of New England from 1889 to 1951. The nine stars represent the nine provinces of New England, being in order of precedence: Massachusetts, Maine, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Nova Scotia, Vermont, New Brunswick, Rhode Island, and Prince Edward Island.

I had a question for any Poles who might read this: does the symbol used by the national radical camp, falanga etc.

Derive orginally from the naval jack?

Even searching Polish internet nets me no answers.

The flags of the Orionese state from its inception in 2374 to its dissolution in 3275.
In 2374, the Orion Arm colonies went from an assembly of colonial representatives to a revolutionary government in rebellion, morphing into a semi-united federation. It used multiple flags throughout the conflict, finally settling on a modification of the very popular "blood martyr's flag", itself a variant of the republican flag adopted in '76.
After the end of the war for independence in 2381, it became a centralized republic and one of the economic powerhouses of the galaxy. However, income inequality and human rights abuses inspired popular revolts that led to a socialist revolution in 2531. After a power struggle, a coalition of Leninist-inspired communist parties and militias took power and changed the name of the state to the People's Republic of Orion, then the People's Commonwealth of Orion after liberalization reforms in the 2580s. However, the reforms were too little, too late and attempted reversals of them in the early 2600s led to a democratic revolution overthrowing the regime. After a brief provisional republic, a constitutional monarchy was established with the crown voted to the House of Angevre, whose chieftain led the revolt. The empire's ruling house changed in 2770 to the House of Cauvan, which also saw the changing of the unpopular "black flag" to a more conventional one; the last emperor of the Cauvan was, however, a weak and ineffectual one and his death sent the empire into a brutal 20-year war of succession. The two claimant houses, Gillemetz and Lao, used different flags and held the throne at differing points during the conflict. The war ended in 3030 with the Gillemetz claimant marrying the Duke of Genevra, who assumed the throne after her death; he used a modified Gillemetz flag as the national flag, which stuck until the empire's peaceful dissolution in 3275. This final flag also marked the first significant departure from the typical Orionese flag ratio of 1:5:1.
