The flag of the Federative Republic of People's Solar Soviets, or FRPSS. It was more commonly referred to, however, as simply the Soviet Republic. Formed in 2412 by several interstellar planetary republics which had adopted Communism as their founding principles, the Soviet Republic was from the outset built on the basis of racial and species equality, social and economic collectivism, and the empowerment of workers, farmers, and soldiers. It originally contained many humans, who had spread the Earth-based ideology of Marxism to become the dominant form of communism among the interstellar community. However, other species had precedents for collectivist ideologies and labour power; these indigenous collectivist ideas combined with Marxism to form a unique offshoot of council-communism with star systems operating as autonomous republics within species-based "Soviets", each species reserved an equal proportion of colony worlds. But within a century, the Soviet Republic became a centralised bureaucratic state with a strong military presence and the legal persecution of non-communist political groups. It eventually rejected Marxism in the early 3000s and expelled human communists, embracing the militaristic collectivism of the graal and tauran races that dominated the Soviet Republic. It still funded and allied itself with Marxist states, like the Central Republic of Taurus, the Norman Republic, and the Sagittarian Free State, as well as communist insurrectionists in both the conservative, human-dominated ISTO bloc and in the alien-capitalist FIGN bloc.
The Soviet Republic was brought into frequent conflict with the Terran Empire-led ISTO, leading to several wars culminating in the Great War, which was originally just a conflict between the ISTO and the Soviets. The war escalated, through military action and diplomatic failures, into a three-way war between the main power blocs in the Milky Way. The Soviets suffered a strategic reversal in 3267 at the Battle of Khoz, and fell in 3272.

Its flag depicts a crossed hammer and sickle with a star, all outlined in gold against a red field, with other gold-outlined stars trailing behind it as if the Communist emblem were a comet or shooting star. It retained this symbol even after rejecting Marxism, though the hammer-and-sickle are ostensibly a uniquely Marxist symbol of workers and peasants.

whelp, here are the next 3: Argentina, Armenia and Australia. hope ya like!
Argentina:
argentina-flat-png.288087

colors: blue: 153-217-234 yellow: 255-242-0
symbolism: as in the OTL flag of argentina, there is no real symbolism to the colors so...lets move on
changes: i took out the Sun of May and replaced it with a yellow circle, because it looks to complicated and as a common rule for flag design: your flag should be easy to recreate and replicate. and another flag design rule i go by is: if your flag can not be drawn by a 5th grader in a couple of minutes, its a bad flag...i'm looking at you 20 out of 50 of the us state flags!!! i'm coming after you next!! also this re-design was semi created by @aldonius , thanks man/ma'm!
Armenia:
upload_2016-9-18_15-19-2.png

colors: red: 213-0-0 blue: 0-0-160 orange: 242-121-0
symbolism: the red represents the highland, survival, Christianity, independence and freedom. the blue stands for the will of the people to live under peaceful skies (basically peace) and the orange stands for the creative talent/hard working nature of the people. (also some people will say the red also stands for the people killed in the Armenian genocide and the orange represents apricots the national fruit).
changes: the current Armenian flag looks pretty freaking awesome and i was hesitant to change it, and for a while i was going to post a shortened version of the flag and change it from the current 1:2 ratio to 2:3 but i think this is better and has a more "western" look due to the vertical stripes (sorry horizontal stripes look more eastern European to me) and ATL for this flag might be the Armenians wanted to westernize after their independence from the soviet union...i guess?
Australia:
upload_2016-9-21_21-16-43.png

colors: blue: 0-0-128
symbolism: the blue represents the night sky and relations with the British, and the stars represent the southern cross and the stars them selves represent their British history under the Commonwealth star and the six provinces and the 1 territory.
changes: i first and foremost got rid of the union jack in the corner, and it looked pretty good but i wanted to make it better, then i go rid of the commonwealth star that is under the OTL union jack, and centered the southern cross and it looks very good to me. quick note: this was inspired by a reddit submission April 2014 Contest Winners Thread! and here is the link to that: https://www.reddit.com/r/vexillolog...ntest_winners_thread/?st=it51cpdv&sh=6e077ff1

next i will do Azerbaijan, the Bahamas and Bangladesh. (i did skip Austria and Bahrain be cause there flags are perfect and i dont want to change them) see ya then and as always, hope ya like!

Few things; This flag already exists, it's the Civil Flag of the Argentina. The colours of the Argentine flag relate to the Argentine cockade and the Flag of Macha, import symbols in the Argentine War of independence. The Sun of May is important as it represents the May Revolution, which saw what became Argentina and Uruguay begin their fight for freedom.

Both are very important, and simply removing the star instead of simplifying it isn't good flag making, if anything it's kinda lazy.

Something I whipped up for a collaborative game I'm playing, in which we're developing a history for the fictional country of Kham. The world of Kham has two moons, the Moon Flower and the Moon Petal (both revered in the traditional Khamese religion) which are represented in the black canton. The red and yellow represent the Khamese and the Prasho minority.

good point. the reference i was going off of for the symbolism said there was no clear definition. the sun i know is importiant and i should have left it on there...ill do a re-design, thanks!

How about just replacing the smiley-sun with a yellow circle? Like Niger's flag.

you mean like this?

i actually really like this design and i may us it for Figi but vertical stripes, thanks for the suggestion!
I suggest you leave a little bit more whitespace between the edge of the yellow and the blue. Maybe a 2:3:2 proportioned stripes with the sun also 2?

edit: here, have one in 3:4:3 instead

One of the aforementioned communist bloc states, the Sagittarian Free State. A breakaway socialist republic from the Empire of Sagittarius, formed after the creation of the monarchy in the 2770s. The Sagittarian Republic was originally founded in 2404 as a federation of many worlds in the Sagittarius arm which took a much more cosmopolitan view of humanity's image and place in the Galaxy, accepting aliens into its society and establishing reservations for many sentient races. It competed with the Terran Dominion and the early Terran Empire to be the "Galactic face of humanity". But over time, oligarchical forces took control of the republic and a landowning power elite emerged. They transformed the state into a constitutional monarchy in 2774, with the Crown only nominally independent. The government was truly beholden to the aristocracy, and would be for several centuries.
The anti-aristocratic coalition rebelled and seized worlds in the heavily industrialised spinward, trans-core region of the Sagittarius Arm. By 2800, the communist faction took control and formed the Sagittarian Free State. It took as its symbol two crossed hammers with a gold-lined white star in the middle, surrounded by a ring of eight gold-edged stars to represent the original eight star systems that started the rebellion. This emblem was placed in a red third of the flag, with a tri-band of black-blue-black extended from it, the colours of the Sagittarian Republic. The SFS received financial and military assistance from the Soviets, and remained in a simmering state of war with the Empire for almost five centuries, only finally falling after the annihilation of the Soviet Republic in the early 3270s.
