Here's a map I made earlier in August, I was wondering what happened in this world?

I'm betting either alternate colonization or a nuclear war. If it's the former, then it gives me the vibe of one where the First Nations were better able to resist the Europeans from the start. I can't think of many other circumstances that would make the unstoppable powerhouse union of Labrador and Nunavik into a state unto itself.

I think this map makes the most sense if the colors represent different waves of expansion, for example, the blue strip was annexed in 1854. If one reads the map the traditional way, where each color is an independent nation, some of these states are just not viable.
