The Rescue of the Salida Garrison was one part of the larger Operation Thunder Arrow, which took place four weeks before the official start of the invasion of New Siam. Thunder Arrow was undertaken in order to evacuate New Siam's garrison forces that were in serious danger of being overwhelmed. The Salida piece of the operation was considered the most vital; it was one of the larger bases on New Siam, the nearest to the NSLF's capital in Hard Landing (being located in the Salida District on the outskirts of the metropolis), and where over a hundred civilians from the Department of Colonization had taken refuge. In an engagement that lasted two hours, the Marine Corps' First Recon Battalion served as a "perimeter force" interdicting NSLF soldiers and local insurgents while Army Special Forces themselves engaged rebel force surrounding the garrison and conducted the rescue itself.

The garrison and the DeCol staff, along with the rescue forces, were evacuated by the ASV Kit Carson, a vessel belonging to the Navy's Special Operations Group. The "KC," along with other Hēiyǐng-class vessels, is specially designed to be able to handle the stresses of descending and ascending through a planet's atmosphere and gravity well and deploy and extract large detachments of troops; however, the "KC" had to insert twice in order to fully evacuate everyone, resulting in more casualties than operational planners had predicted.

I wouldn't say any of the roads in the Republic were paved at all.
Sounds like a cheery place...

Jackson Yards Brewing Company is a business started by two veterans, Rory Auerbach and Gabriel Lara. Both men served in the same Army company from Jiangxi serving garrison duty on São Pedro, and were from the same city, the port town of Jackson. In an event that has become "legendary" in the lore of the company, one night the soldiers were having a bullshit session while standing post. In the fifth hour of a six-hour overnight watch, after exhausting topics such as what celebrities they would sleep with and singing two hours worth of pop songs, the sleep-deprived pair promised they would start a microbrewery together. They kept their promise. After their tour in the outer colonies was finished and both men's enlistments finished, the two men used money they'd saved (including the "hazard pay" from their twelve-month deployment) to start their microbrewery.

Jackson Yards proved popular in their locale, eventually spreading in certain circles across multiple colonies due to its popularity among active-duty soldiers and veterans. It is often drunk illicitly on duty during such bullshit sessions as spawned the idea for the company. Two of Jackson Yards' most popular varieties are "Sniper Check" (a full-bodied lager with an ABV of 6.8%) and "Lance Corporal" (an extra bitter amber with an ABV of 7.5%).

I'm still confused about who was the victor when California beat up 20,000 pounds of whale meat.

California did, but because the 20,000 pounds of whale meat was transported without a license, and not because it was whale meat.

Sounds like the kind of dubious 'win' that I've come to expect from boxing

Don King is the only person I'd trust to organise a rematch. Best president we never had

The Venusian Farmers' League is the dominant party on the Venusian Republic (controls all of the now-terraformed Venus) in the Solar Federation (merger of the US, Canada, the EU, Norway, Iceland, Greenland and all areas not part of the EU but part of members countries of the EU, Mexico, Central America, NZ, Australia, and Colombia), having been the ruling party since 2117, except during the period of 2206-2132, when the Venusian Social Credit party was in power (it's 2237, for clarification). They mostly remain in power due to an efficient and corrupt political machine. They are directly affiliated to the United Farmers of Venus, a worker-owned farming cooperative. Their policies include land reform, huge subsidies to farmers (mostly the UFV), and brutal repression of almost any activity that isn't farming or related to it.

Yes, a 12 year "provisional" government. What are you going to do about it?

(answer: expose it through Wikileaks, raise a shitstorm in the public and get it overthrown with this)

(Pashto speakers please don't kill me)

Seems very similar to A Jovian Night's Dream.

Federal...?

Seems very similar to A Jovian Night's Dream.

Now, now, let's see where this goes for now. Perhaps we just share the same muse. :p

Also, wouldn't the logo look better turned upside down so it forms a V?
