This is the publisher's site for Del Rey, a major publisher of AH fiction. Mostly it is just a description of AH books available from Del Rey, but it also has a discussion forum. The forum is kind of primitive, and has a low level of activity.

This is the mailing list for fans of H. Beam Piper, author of "Lord Kalvan of Otherwhen". Has a medium level of activity and a six year archive.

The Naval Fiction Board

A general web discussion board for writers of naval fiction, including the stories set in the Tarrantry alternate world. Much of it is not directly alternate history related, but it is quite active. The archive appears to go back only a couple of months.

SHWI-ISOT mailing list at Yahoo

This is the web site for the Yahoo mailing list "SHWI-ISOT", which is a sort of alternate history roleplaying forum whose participants come mainly from the USENET newsgroup soc.history.what-if. The scenario is that the list members find themselves all flung centuries back in time. Has a medium level of activity and a three year archive. Readable by members only.

SM Stirling mailing list at Yahoo

This is the web site for the Yahoo mailing list about all things S.M. Stirling related. It is very active and has a one year archive. Readable by members only.

soc.history.what-if (USENET newsgroup)

soc.history.what-if, often called simply SHWI, is a USENET newsgroup dedicated to discussion of alternate history. It is the largest and by far the oldest online AH discussion forum. You can access it through a news reader program. It can also be accessed on the web at groups.google.com. There is a partial SHWI archive of some especially interesting content on the web at www.alternatehistory.com/shwi.

Third Reich Forum

A web discussion forum about Hitler's Germany, which includes a topic for the discussion of "what-ifs". It has a high level of activity and a two year archive.

Time In Fictions mailing list at Yahoo

A bilingual English/French mailing list dedicated to discussion of alternate history as well as parallel history, time travel, streampunk, and so on. It has a medium level of activity and a four year archive.

An in-print, Amateur Publishing Association. It's in French, and based in France. It focuses on "Time in Fictions", including alternate history and time travel.

This is the English introduction to the French Amateur Publishing Association, La Clepsydre.

Point of Divergence alternate history APA

Contains information about the Point of Divergence APA (Amateur Publishing Association), an in-print forum for all things AH, including how to join. The page has not been updated for a year, but Point of Divergence is still going strong and the information is still accurate. Another explanation can be found here on Ian Montgomerie's site.

Soviet Empire

A large and detailed online simulation of an alternate history, in which the USSR survived after 1991.

Would That It Were

A paying, online magazine for historical SF (including alternate history). Has been around for four issues and seems to be still growing. Back issues are available online, and everything is free to read. Has a significant number of short stories.
