WI Longer Spanish Civil War?

WI the Spanish Civil War lasted longer, possibly into 1940. Would both sides join the opposing alliances in WW2, with the Republicans joining the Allies and the Nationalists joining the Axis? How would this affect the war itself? Could Spain be of any use to Germany, considering the massive reconstruction needed to bring it back up to fighting shape?

The Spanish civil war breaks out in May of 1940? Otherwise it's all over in September of 1939 signs the Molotov-Ribbontrop pact and the French and British stop supporting him. The French and British just walk in and stomp the nationalists by sheer force of numbers.
Incidentally training their troops in Spain the way the Germans were training theirs in Poland.
And doesn't that make a difference in May of 1940.

Spain didn't need to get back to fighting shape. If Franco is ready to give up his nation's advantageous political and geographical importance (Being close to Gibraltar; A sting in the back for Germany in the Med and an important trade route to Britain), it would be weird for a politician like Franco to give up the things that England was giving to keep him neutral, and the things the Axis gave him in order to bribe him. At the same time, too.

Republican Spain wanted a war as it meant French and British help. Now the issue is how are the Republican surviving? Is it due to British or French aid? Or tactical errors on Franco's side? Each one means either a stronger Republican Army, but aid mean equipment wise, and the later will just be numbers.
