WI: Agrippa Postumus Succeeded Augustus?

What if Agrippa Postumus Succeeded Augustus?

For a time Agrippa Postumus was floated as a possible successor to Augustus. As you know instead Tiberius took the throne and Agrippa showed up dead. So what if instead Tiberius dies and Agrippa ascends? What would his reign be like?

His personality might need a little work:
According to the historian Erich S. Gruen, various contemporary sources state that Postumus was a "vulgar young man, brutal and brutish, and of depraved character".[2] The Roman historian Tacitus defended him, but his praise was slight: [He was] the young, physically tough, indeed brutish, Agrippa Postumus. Though devoid of every good quality, he had been involved in no scandal.

I could see his brothers, Lucius or Gaius, succeeding their grandfather, but AIR once they died, Tiberius was chosen pretty plainly to be the next Emperor; hell, pretty sure Postumus was exiled to an island at this point. This might be ASB levels of unlikely here.

What's the plan if Tiberius died of illness prior to Augustus death?

Germanicus. Tiberius was only supposed to be a temporary placeholder for Germanicus, something Augustus made clear by basically making Tiberius adopt him. Augustus really didn't want Tiberius in power because of the stunt he pulled before but he thought Germanics too young and inexperienced. Tiberius wasn't supposed to live very long after Augustus...

Due to the fact, that we know nothing about Agrippa Postumus, we cannot speculate anything about an alternate history based on him.

Agrippa is either fully wortless or very promising for a TL. Fully worthless, because historically undefined. Promising, because you can speculate about everything without any risk to run into a more serious discussion.

Best case Agrippa is worth a nice to read novel. Not more.
