Legislature:. The Senate. Basically all the lords in Britannia. Senate meetings are incredibly rowdy.

Political Objectives: Keep the barbarians in the North. Remain free of Roman influence.

    Wealdan Britannæa!
It is the year 1810 after the birth of Jesus, son of Woden All-Father. Dominant in the isles known as Britain are the nations of Lyrdain and Britannia. Both of these are Kingdoms, one Celtic, and one Germanic, one Romanized and one not. The Kingdom of Britannia, however, is the greatest one of all, of course. In this great year, the King Constantine IV of the House
Æfmeddastan, which has ruled the island for near one hundred years. His House is, of course, only the most recent in a long line of them, streching from the founding of the Kingdom of Britannia in the 9th century following the birth of Jesus. Constantine himself is getting old, and the Senate is afraid that his first son, Æthelstan will upset the order of things when he takes the throne.

The Britannia he will inherit is by no means a great country. The King, though in theory having a large population at his command is relatively weak. Much of the Kingdom is ruled by feudal lords. These lords have the power, holding vast forces at their command. The King cannot enforce his rule over all of them, due to webs of entangling alliances stretching back centuriew. The people are relatively indifferent to which lord controls them at the time, fighting only because of their feudal obligations to the people who control their land. The feudal lords are an interesting group. Following the teachings of Osbercht of Colenceaster, the lords of Britannia have diversified from simple warriors over the centuries. They are now expected to be scholars and devout, but rule absolutely, but enlightrnedly over their subjects.

The Church of Britannia is the official church of Britannia. It hjad it's roots in Christianity, which spread there during the dying days of the Roman Empire. The local Romano-Britons were converted to the Roman variety of Christianity. The Germanic peoples who settled Britannia brought with them paganism in the form of the ancient gods like Woden and Thunor. These new gods merged with Christianity, with the idea of Jesus being son of Woden, King of the Gods and the Christian Prophets also being messengers of Woden. This church managed to incorporate both these systems of belief. In the last centuries, great cathedrals have been built to honor these gods. The King is the nominal head of the church, though a heirarchy of priests does the actual controlling of it. In addition, the King claims descent from Woden, and is considered divinely righted.

The technology of Britannia is not great, and the upper classes know. Up until about a century ago, Britannian armies marched with Pike and Bow, but since then, gunpowder has begun to be produced in Britannian armories and Harquebus' are wielded by the forces of the King and the lords. News from Asia tells that there are much betters guns there, but it has been hard for the Europeans to acquire them, still, the Britannians are more open to foreign ideas than the Romans. Finally, the Britannians do have some cannons, though they are heavily and unwieldy, and only the smallest are often used in field battles.

From Edmund, Ambassador Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Britannia:
    To Empire of Jin:
Thank you, Great Khan. The Kingdom of Britannia seeks to emulate the states of Asia in his ways. Can you offer any ways for us to do so?

    Adams Wins a Second Term
In this world, John Adams has more support, leading to his victory in the Presidential Election of 1800. His second term is charactarized by support for the Coalition in Europe. He also fights the First Barbary War, about as OTL. He is followed by Charles Pinckney in 18104, and he fights the Second Barbary War which ends with his annexation of the place. With that, the US gets embroiled in the Napoleonic Wars, and General Andrew Jackson makes a name for himself in the Peninsular Campaign. As well, the US takes the Louisiana Territory and some Carribean Islands. The war ends with an increased Anglo-American relationship, and, throughout the 19th century, the US takes a more active role in world politics and is known as a major seafaring power. It has an outlet on the Pacific, but the idea of Manifest Destiny never really took off, however, Texas the Yucatan are American, but Florida is British. However, the US is somewhat lower populated than OTL, with immigration low because of the Alien and Sedition Acts. It is now 1900, and opposing alliances are forming.

    1. Nation Name: Scottish National Republic
    OTL Area: Scotland and Northumberland.
    Rough population: 2,500,050.
Summary: In the aftermath of the meteor, inspired by Robert Burns, a Scottish national identity formed. In 1870, the British remnants were thrown off, and the Scottish National Republic was declared. Inspired by Burns, all Scots are on the same level, addressing each other as Comrade-Citizen. Emphasis is placed on nationalism, and many speak Scots.
    Map: Green.

    2. Nation Name: Emergency State of Kanawha.
OTL Area: West Virginia, most of Maryland, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania.
    Rough population: 1,500,000.
Summary: With the Union in disarray, General McClellen led his forces to carve out their own state in West Virginia. His soldiers and their descendents run the nation as a military dictatorship.
    Map: Blue.

    3. Nation Name:
    Confederate States of America.
    OTL Area: Confederacy.
    Rough population: 5 million.
Summary: The CSA managed to survive the meteor, but was left without food in the late 1860s. Much of the population was put onto duty with food production. It, in 1905, is heavily under the control of the national government.
    Map: Pink.

    -POLITICAL and GEOGRAPHIC-
Name: The Confederate States of America.
Alternative Name: The Confederacy, the CSA, the South, Dixie, and Dixieland.
    Capital: Richmond.
Major Cities: Richmond, Charleston, Aiken, Nashville, Birmingham, and Montgomery.
Geographic Description: Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, a little bit of Louisiana, and Kentucky.

Transportation Network: Mostly roads, which are kept up by the states. There are some railroads, but they are only really between the major cities.

Government Type: Pretty much a two party democracy, though the rich have almost all the representation.
Head of State: President J.E.B. Stuart Jr.
Head of Government: President of the Senate John W. Daniel.
Succession Law: Presidential Elections every six years. The elections are dominated by the elite.

Public Responsibility: The elite are outnumbered. They control most of the farms and factories. The Ministry of Resource Distribution is charged with distributing the food made, and, of course, this Ministry is run by the elite. Pretty much by forcing the lower classes to make food, the upper class keeps them under control.
Stability: Pretty stable. The government keeps the people under control and, through racism, keeps the lower class blacks and whites divided.
Centralization: Centralized. The states-rights stuff has kind of faded off, and the President controls much of the nation, though it is supported by the elite.

    Judicial: Common Law.

Legislature: The Congress is dominated by the two major parties, the Whig Party and the Democratic Party. In theory, there are differences, but generally the Whigs are less supportive of a strong Presidency and bureaucracy, whereas the Democrats are.

    Senate:
    10 Seats Democratic
    8 Seats Whig

    House of Representatives:
    89 Seats Democratic
    33 Seats Whig
    8 Seats Independent

Political Objectives: The government wishes to keep the lower classes stable, prevent any major revolts, and keep their way of life.
    Intelligence Service: Really nothing organized.

    -SOCIAL-
    Population:
    14,588,092.

    Clergy: .5%
    Nobility: 2%
    Burghers/Middle Class: 8%
    Lower Class: 50.5%
    Bonded: 35%
    Unemployed: 4%

Language: English, though with the upper class pretending to be nobility, many have started to use Middle English words.

    Gini Index: Low.

Religion: The Episcopal Church of the Confederate States is the official church of the nation. It is like the Episcopal Church, just with many saints from American history. Its priests are often used in the pretend medieval stuff. St. Robert (of Virginia) is the patron Saint of the CSA.

Much of the population follows various Baptist and Methodist sects that were rejuvenated by the Third Great Awakening in the 1870s.

Strategic Goals: Destroy the Yankee scum. Recapture New Orleans. Build up more industry.

Internal Problems: Most of the population follow a different religion than the elites, and are not quite happy at the fact they are at a lower status. Blacks are very unhappy. Not too much industry.

Culture: The elites follow this weird system of neo-chivalry, in which they fashion themselves as knights, and try to have fake duels. The lower class whites think this is the dumbest thing ever, but are still grateful for being saved by the Ministry of Resource Distribution, and fear turning against it. The blacks are either slaves, who resent their status, or free, who still are unhappy.
Education: Education is mandatory for whites, though the lower classes only go through a few years, and even then not for the entire year. The rich have good educations. Military status is viewed as good.

    -INDUSTRY and MONEY-
Major Industries: Really only food, cotton, and coal, the last which is found only in the mountains.
Imports / Exports: Machines, Textiles, and Metals / Cotton, Coal, and fish.
    Merchant Fleet: Decent sized.

    Currency: Confederate Dollar.
Taxes/Revenue Collection: Everyone is taxed, though the rich can afford the taxes easier.

    -FIGHTING DUDES-
    Army
250,000 Regulars, but up to another 250,000 can be called out.

    Navy:
Same as the above. Can overlap somewhat with Merchant Fleet above in the early days, but the line will quickly become clearer.

    The CSA: 1863-1905
The Meteor was the turning point of the Second American Revolution for the south. An act of god, or at least so most assumed, meant the north was hit with an incredible winter, and the south had the upper hand. Though the meteor did not directly impact northern forces at first, the simple shock of seeing their capitol disappear demoralized many. With the deaths of General Lee, the entire ANV and the Army of the Potomac, there were almost no forces left to fight in the east, and, even if there was, the capitol was wiped out, so they had noone to be command from. However, in the west, that winter, Confederate forces pushed up it, with Kentucky now mainly pro-Southern, things were looking bad for the Union. The Treaty of Pittsburgh was signed in early 1864, giving the Confederate States sovereignity.

The late 1860s saw the CSA in a crisis. Their main export was cotton, but with a meteor just hitting the world, cotton was not the primary concern of most nations. Food was. However, food production was not something that was large in the south. Consequently, thousands of slaves were transferred to food production, and poor whites were forced to give their products to a new Government Agency, the Department of Resource Distribution. This Department grew, and, becoming the most important, with its Director being the most powerful man in the country. Soon after, the Confederate government was faced with the secession of Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana, which they didnt care to contest, though many locals thought otherwise and small in-state Civil Wars broke out. This was not terrible, as they did not have to supply food to the people west of the Mississippi. Once proper diplomatic relations were established, the Confederacy and Texas, which were friendly, agreed to guaruntee the independence of New Orleans, which noone really wanted to fall into the others hands, more for economic reasons. Now, both nations are stuck with an annoying little state at the output of the Mississippi River.

By early 1870s, the Era of the Emergency had ended. The Upper Classes realized that they were not in a good position, the lower classes were massive, and the upper ones could easily be overthrown. Consequently, a decision was made to keep rationing alive, with the Department of Resource Distribution intentionally destroying food, which would keep the lower classes on the farms, providing food, but inserting an idea within them that if the Department was gone, the country would die of starvation. By 1875, that was acheived, and the country entered a state in which the upper class held all the power.

With no northern interests to stop them, the Upper Class began to do what it pleased. In the 1870s, the idea of chivalry from before the Secon Revolution grew, with many planters now joining chivalric orders. See, the Upper Class also controlled the Episcopal Church, and with many of them belonging to it, they inducted new Saints, including Robert E. Lee, who became the patron saint of the CSA, and William Quantril. So in the 1870s, such orders as the Ancient Order of the Knights of Thomas Jefferson and the Holy Equestrian Order of the Knights of Saint William Quantrill. Many of them adopted Jacobean era costume and fashioned themselves after his cavaliers. This fad has continued to the modern day. It is not uncommon to see such planters riding through the countryside in those bizzare slouch hats talking in Middle English. Yes, Middle English. Somewhere along the line, someone decided it would be a good idea to resurrect such words as "thou" and "thee", which, when combined with the southern dialect, form an interesting thing to listen to. Many fear the rich, with their lavish parties, are growing out of touch with the common people.

The poor, meanwhile, have not improved at all in their standards of living since 1863. Poor whites, who make up the majority of the population, mostly live in factory housing, on government farms (which are technically voluntary), farm their own land (though this practice is increasingly hard to actually do succesfully), or work on richer peoples farms. Many resent it, feeling that they should be able to live free, like their grandfathers did, though they have been conditioned with propoaganda to tell them that if they did not work for the Department of Resource Distribution, the Yankees would sweep in and they would all starve. These poor whites are split between Baptist, Presbyterian, Methodist, and Episcopal, though the last religion has been growing in recent days. This population is deeply religious, ever since the Third Great Awakening in the late 1860s and 70s, which turned many of these people towards stricter versions of religion. Still, this group is happy they are above the blacks. In the CSA, blacks is pretty much synonymous with slaves, with most of the blacks being enslaved. Slaves live in conditions just as bad as 1863. Most of the blacks are Baptists. They disagree with the Department of Resource Distribution, which they view as their oppressor, and would not mind overthrowing the system, except their oppressors do have better guns then them. Both these groups have little influence in politics, though they technically have votes. The poor whites are often manipulated into voting for candidates they probably disagree with, but still, they do manage to elect some Congressmen that work for them, mostly from the mountainous regions of Virginia and Tennessee. Slavesactually also have the vote, but their masters vote for them Free blacks are often discouraged from voting.

The military of the Confederacy is massive. It stands at 250,000 men ready for battle, and 250,000 more to be called up, though, if they were called up, there would be a severe shortage of laborers at home. The military is what every young elite boy aspires to. Being in the General Staff in Richmond is not, but everyone wishes to hold command, leading their forces as galliant cavaliers. To make this a reality, four state-run military acadamies exist in the CSA, with eight more run by the states. The navy is decent, but not as mythic as the army.

The CSA is run by propaganda. While, in reality, they are on decent terms with the US, the propaganda department hypes up the old divisions, and makes it sound as if the Yankees are insane, evil, and ready to sack all of CS civilization. The reason for this is that if the Yankees are the enemy, the upper class cant be. There is a bit of dislike of the Ontarioans, but that is because they occupy rightful CSA territory, still both nations are somewhat in agreement not to start a war.

I was thinking a shard also hit Gettysburg wiping out the ANV and the Army of the Potomac and fighting was disgruntled as everyone tried to figure out what happened. Think it might've ended early 1864, although Grant liberated the slaves in the Mississippi Valley most likely, just because. :p:D

    Cantina at Foless

New Republic Intelligence Agent Jasmine Etroiv, hung out in the back of the cantina looking around for any rumors of broken down warships that could be taken by the New Republic and added into the fleet. Her ears picked up on rumors of a fleet with “hundreds of thousands of droids” all seemingly deactivated and stockpiled. She nodded to herself as she watched the figure appear to leave the cantina, a blaster drawn under as she grabbed the figure. “Now, who are you, and where is this fleet?” the Intelligence Agent asked

    Nebulon-B Frigate, Carolina

“Understood, leaving hyperspace in thirty seconds," an officer spoke as the crew of a shuttle in a Nebulon-B Frigate readied to leave hyperspace as part of a force sent by Admiral Williams to reclaim a former Confederate fleet for the Republic. The fleet according to info gathered by an intelligence agent had positioned the fleet near Saleucami.

"We have reverted into realspace. Launch shuttles," another officer spoke, as the shuttles roared out of the pair of Nebulon-B Frigates, and a Victory-II Star Destroyer which had arrived.

"Counting one Lucrehulk, five Providences, five Recusants, and twenty-two Munificents."

"Good, god. Thats nearly an entire major Confederate battle group."

"Indeed. Now lets get those hyperdrives online, and get the hell out."

    Near Utapau

Another Republic fleet of three Nebulon-B Frigates, a Victory-II Star Destroyer, an Acclamator-class assault ship, and the Venator Star Destroyer Tranquility arrived near Utapau, there goal there similar to one near Saleucami. Emissions and radar showed a single Mandator-II Battlecruiser, two Venator Star Destroyers, two Victory-I Star Destroyers, five Dreadnought Heavy Cruisers, three Acclamator-I Assault Ships, 1 Acclamator-II Assault Ship, 9 Consular Class Frigates, 4 Centax Class Frigates, and 4 Light Assault Cruisers. Shuttles began to depart, the goal there to get hyperdrives online, and to another staging location for more intense locations.
