Plausibility Check: A British Greece

What would be needed for there to be a Greece with some internal self-rule under British protection starting from some time in the early 19th Century.

The problem is I think the location. Greece is in Europe so turning it into a colony sort of poses a problem during a time when nationalism is on a rise. But without nationalism Greece will never revolt against the Ottoman.

But having it protected by Britain and a "de Facto" colony might not be that difficult. But not "de Jure"
