Peshwar Lancers Redux: Kingdom of Hawaii

Lima Peru: Colonel Chan was attempting to rebuild the Peruvian Army from scratch. His people trained the recruits and from the best and the brightest were selected NCOs. He was however facing a problem regarding a lack of officers. The result was he had put Hawaiian Special Forces officers in command of the Battalion, company and Platoon and was pushing the first Peruvian class. These officer cadets were getting 30 days of basic military training and then 120 days of military training as officers. He hoped that by this means he might have enough officers to take over for two Battalions and this would buy time for a regular class to graduate with at least 1-2 years of military education.
General Vega had recommended to the government in Spain that his command remain in Peru for a total of 5 years.

The Visit of Admiral Kamehameha to Peru marked the arrival of the Highest ranking allied official to visit the country. The same day he arrived a ship arrived bringing the first two Motor Gunboats. The Admiral had been appointed the new Chairman of the Joint Hawaiian Chiefs Of Staff. He had previously served as the Chief of Naval Operations and before that had been head of the Royal Hawaiian Intelligence Agency so he had lots of experience. The Admiral's language skills were limited in regard to Spanish.

The Hawaiian Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff met with the Commander of the Military Advisory Group in Peru, inspected the training facilities and with an interpreter spoke with the new members of the Peruvian Military. He met with the body that was overseeing the new elections and discussed security and other problems. He met with both allied Generals and with the Commanding general of the Neuva Granada Military. He toured the frontline and had a final meeting with Colonel Chan before flying off to Brazil. From Brazil he would fly to London for a meeting of the allied Military Chiefs.

LtJg Christopher Thomas son of retired Admiral Thomas was leaving the active Navy. He had served as a SEAL and had decided to try civilian life..

Two of the students graduating from a Catholic high School in Honolulu were William Kamehameha IV and his sister Anne Marie. Anne Marie would be attending the University of Dublin while her bother had been offered a position at the Royal Hawaiian Naval Academy or the University of Hawaii. William was leaning toward following his father into the Navy a tradition started by his grandfather.

Christopher Thomas left the active duty Navy and went to work for Maritime World Insurance as a special investigator. His current assignment took him to South Africa where her was looking into the loss of two ships and their cargo. He found that some of the Cargo had been spotted in Rhodesia which was a long way away from the sea. He was working with the Rhodesian Police and Greta Van Huston A South African who was in financial straits due to the loss of the ships and the carg. She had taken over running the company after her father had suffered a heart attack.

The Former Naval officer had seen combat and he had handles some assignments for Maritime World Insurance which had been difficult but he said to himself that this was looking that that British writer Ian Fleming would have written for his character James Bond. He seemed to end up in one life threaten escapade after another. And he not only had to look after himself but the lovely Miss Van Huston. Escaping from one encounter he was finally able to summon help from the Rhodesian Military closing the case and finding himself engaged. He had no idea how that he could explain how it happen. He seriously considered rejoining the Navy until he got the bonus check from the company. His next assignment was in Portugal.

The Hawaiian Space Agency announced in 1982 that there would be 4 trips to the Moon and there would be an attempt to begin construction of a Lunar base. The Zeus Space craft had been designed to allow for a larger crew The Crew for the first Mission would include an Hawaiian Commander, Rolim Amaro of Brazil, Jacko Anders of Australia, Peter Block of Germany and John Andrews of the United States.. Four of the Crew would be on the moon for 5 days.

A Zeus Lunar Mission was to be launched from the Brazilian Space facility. Brazil had cleared the land and had provided 45 % of the funding for the facility. It was located in what had been French Guinea before the Fall but which had been absobed into the Brazilian Empire, Hawaii had worked with Brazil to ensure that the facility was ready. The 5 member crew would include a second Brazilian Astronaut, an British Commander, Hawaiian Engineer.German Engineer and an American.

In 1982 the Hawaiian Space Authority announced that by the end of the year 4 missions would have taken place on the moon. The Construction of Lunar Base Archangel would proceed. Plans were for an equal number of missions in 1983 and 1984. It was hoped that the construction on the facility would be completed by 1996 and the facility would upon certification be open for the stationing of humans at the bae. It was hoped that it would have a capacity for 25 people. Eventually the base with its nuclear power plant would be able to be expanded to 125 people.

In a Convention of the Hawaiian Nationalist Conservative Party held in 1984 George W. Kamehameha announced that he would be a candidate for Prime Minister again if his party was to win the national election. The Liberal Party seemed to see the emergence of a new leader John D Waihee. The Liberal Party seemed to be looking for him to be their leader. Like the Nationalist leader he was someone who had Polynesian Blood. Political experts considered it unlikely that he would defeat the very popular George Kamehameha to win control of Parliament. Still should George decide that he would retire it was likely that the liberal Party might be able to gain enough seats to make John d Waihee as the future Prime Minister

The election of 1984 in the Kingdom of Hawaii was generally a civil campaign between the parties. The Liberal party had renamed itself the Liberal Democrat Party. The Social Democrats were not expected to make any gains. They had been a party in the wilderness since their brief holding of power. They had however grasp one issue and would not let it go and that was the money spent on Space exploration. They were opposed to the Construction of the Lunar Outpost calling it a waste of money. There was a faction in the Liberal Democrat Party which also wanted a cut in the amount of money spent on Space.

The Social Democrats barely were able to win 19 seats in the election which was a loss of 1 seat from the last House. The Liberal Democrats won 130 seats and the National Conservatives took 171 seats. Prime Minister Kamehameha received congratulations from the Cabinet and a phone call from the leader of the Liberal Democrats. The happy occasion was marred by a phone call from the palace notifying him that King Edward had suffered a stroke. He was airlifted to the University of Hawaii Hospital.

King Edward Abe Kawananakoa passed away at the Hospital. Prince Quentin and the Prime Minister were there. The Prince was the Crown Prince and heir. A state funeral was to be held for the King. King/Emperor Charles III called and offered his condolances to the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister. He informed the Prime Minister that he would attend the funeral.

The official ceremony marking Crown Prince Quentin' becoming the new King would be held after the funeral . But for now the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court administered the oath making him the King. The Prince was a graduate of the Naval Academy and had briefly served as a Submarine officer before the King had requested that the Prince be reassigned to home. He had been on a visit to the palace when the king had had his stroke.
The Head of the Liberal Democrat Party had been informed of the King's death and he would be making some remarks at the ceremony.
