Peshwar Lancers Redux: India

The appeared to be a number of incidents between the Empire of the Rising Sun's Military forces and those of the Republic of China. The Imperial Military planning staff in Tokyo proposed a renewal of the conflict with China in the Southern Region
with a goal of retaking some of the lands that had been conceded to the ROC in the ceasefire agreement. This would eliminate the positioning of Surface to air missile sites as well as new short range surface to surface missile sites/

After a repeated Warning The Empire of the Rising Sun decided to carry out Operation Banzai. The operation saw the Battleship Yamato called back to active duty. The Battleship had 18.1 inch guns in three triple turrets. It had been undergoing a modernization of its AA defenses. It had replaced its seaplanes with much more modern Helicopters. The Battleship was carrying very little in the antiship Ammunition for its 18.1 inch guns just 9 rounds all of the rest were high explosives. The Impeial Navy would ne using its Speal Naval Infantry Divisions in this operation. The Army had already moved an rmored division, Mechanized divison and 2 artillery Brigades to strengthen forces in the region. The Navy's carrier strike force would hit rail and road chokepoints so as to prevent reinforcement from entering the area.

Operation Banzai came as a surprise to the Chinese. The SNLF ( Special Naval Landing Force Divisions landed and pushed inland. Meanwhile the Guns of the battleship Yamato smashed Chinese missile sites. The Imperial Army's T-74 tanks engaged the Chinese armor and achieved a breakthrough. The Chinese Military command noticed that in the east the Imperial forces were behind the DMZ (DeMilitarized Zone). Fightingting was only taking place in the area where the Empire had complained about Chinese violations.

The Empire had decided to reoccupy a good amount of the land that they gave up in the agreement with the Republic of China. The Empire had attempted to resolve the issue through diplomacy but had been rebuffed by the Chinese. The Empire had used Air, ground and sea power to carry out the attack, It was willing to reopen the talks in Hong Kong but was also prepared to esclate if need be first with a blockade of the Chinese coast held by the Republic and then much further.

The success of any negotiations depends on how the Japanese Empire treats the Chinese people in occupied lands. If it has any similarity with OTL, China will try to expel the Japanese Empire from the mainland. Even if it treats them better, chances for prolonged peace aren't good.

Edit: fixed a typo.

The Japanese Imperial Army and the Special Naval Landing forces used overwhelming firepower to neutralize the Chinese. However, the Japanese Military did take prisoners and treated them close to Western European standards. In talks with the Chinese in Hong Kong the Japanese made it clear that it was Chinese violations of the agreement that had cause Japan to act. Japanese Military forces had not carried out any hostile act from the Northern Zone.
There now was a discussion on ending the hostilities. Japan would withdraw but all of the territory taken would be treated as a Demilitarized Zone no Surface to Air or surface to Surface missile installations would be allowed

Hong Kong: The Sino-Japanese Ceasefire Group met with The Hawaiian Secretary of State acting as the mediator . Secretary of State William Howard had to listen to accusations from both sides before he could get their attention. A ceasefire proposal would see the Japanese forces pull back provided that a DMZ was created. No Chinese weapons could be emplaced in the zone. The zone would be subject to searces oversean by the Kingdom of Hawaii. Japanese and Chinese obserbers would be allowed. The Japanese controled territory on the mainland in the south would be reduced. A DMZ was created in the rest of China between Territory of the Republic of China and the Empire of the Rising Sun. Said zone was to be 12 miles wide.

After nearly two weeks of talks an agreement was reached between the two sides The Kingdom of Hawaii deployed nearly 2000 troops to China to seperate the two parties and to set up the DMZ Zones in both th South and the North. China agreed to pick up 60 percent of the cost and the Empire of the Rising Sun the remaining 40 percent.

Japanese Engineers began construction of a Canal which would separate the Peninsula from the mainland Also the Region that was south of the Manchucko border was now designated as HAN. The Emperor granted the people of the state of HAN the ability to elect a legislative body. these would pass laws and tax the people to pay for a variety of things. They were also allowed to submit three canidates for the post of Governor. The Emperor would then select one and appoint him. Eventually the people would be allowed to vote on the Candidates. . The Emperor appointed a Military Overlord for the Region.

A meeting of the Armistice Committee was held in Hong Kong. China noted tha action by the Empire of the Rising Sun in effect detaching the Peninsula from the Mainland. The action was in effect creating a water barrier between it and the Mainland. China believed that this alteration of geography was a violation. The Hawaiian Staff had been studying the matter and there was nothing in the agreement to prevent it. Still they recommended that the Empire not widen it any further. Progress along the greater border between the two states had been going smoothly. The Commander of the Hawaiian Military Force reported that it should (setting up of the DMZ) be completed ahead of schedule.
Both China and the Empire praised the Hawaiian group for its firness and being able to resolve any problems.

June 1979 The Hawaiian Space Command announced the launching of its Lunar Mission. The Space craft had a crew aboard that consisted of an Hawaiian Air Force Colonel as Mission Commander, Lt Colonel Harold Smythe RAF and Lt Comdr Wilhelm Konig Imperial German Navy made up the crew. The launch went according to plan and it was entirely flawless.

The next Space Mission would see an Australian Astronaut as one of the three crew members. Talk was that the Hawaiian, British and Germans were working on a larger space craft.

The government of Australia together with the governments of Hawaii and Britain were working together on a Space tracking facility in Australia. Australia was providing the land and Hawaii the equipment and Britain the money to build it. Personnel would come from all three countries to man it.

Admiral Kamehameha arrived in London and was a guest at his cousin King Charles III estate. He was there for the gathering of allied Military chiefs. The British Chairman would be joining him as well as the German, Austrian, Brazilian. Australian, Canadian and American Chiefs.
