The Empire of the Rising Sun was pushing the Han Republic to be less hostile to the Republic of China. It was the Empire's support to the Civilian Government which gave the civilian officals the courage to stand up to the Hand Military and exert control over it..
The Empire of the Rising Sun signed the Treaty of Hainan on December 24,1997. In effect it allowed the Chinese to establish trade on the former Peninsula. It was believed that this could result in the empire returning control of the Peninsula which had been turned into an island.

The Foreign Minister of the Empire of the Rising Sun met with his counterpart from the Republic of China in Hong Kong. An agreement was reached between the two that would see the opening of embassies in one another s capital. The two men also reached an agreement which would see the withdrawal of Imperial forces from the mainland in the south and allow work to begin on reattaching the former peninsula to the mainland. There was indication that the Empire would allow a demilitarize area to come under the jurisdiction of the Republic of China.

the Empire of the Rising Sun had been taking Earthquakes seriously ever since the one in the 1920s. The Imperial Government was working with the University of Hawaii and other Universities and governments to provide information and provide advance warnings..

The Earthquake in the Han Republic drew the attention of that countries military into dealing with a disaster which had cut off towns and villages. The Army had moved all of its engineer units and several combat Infantry divisions into the struggle to rescue people and reopen the lines of communication.

The earthquake in the Han Republic convinced the government to allow scientist from Hawaii and the Empire of the Rising Sun to set up equipment in the country that might give the country warning of other earthquakes. It was part of a growing move to avoid problems that might cost a large loss of life.

Data gathered from probes in the Han republic was transmitted to the University of Hawaii and to Tokyo . The University of Hawaii also supplied the data to the US The Empire was very concern about Earthquakes and the possibility of Volcanoes causing another Fall like event was also something that was taken seriously.

The Empire's Intelligence Service was alerted by the Police that at least a5 scientist and technical experts were missing. None of them had been home in a month. The Intelligence service checked with the Foreign Ministry and their pass ports had seen them leaving for a variety of places, Korea, Manchuria, Taiwan but only 2 had shown direct travel to the Han Republic. Upon checking with Imperial authorities in Manchuria and Taiwan all of those were missing and the Korean authorities reported no use of there pass ports but 2 people matching their description had left for the Han Republic. Upon Checking with Shanghai Police two bodies had been found matching the suspects. The Intelligence agency sent three personnel to Shanghai with 2 Japanes Police Inspectors.

The Empire of the Rising Sun's Intelligence and Police agents working with the Shanghai and other Han Police found more bodies of Imperial Citizens> Evidence indicated that that they were killed with weapons used by a special unit of the Han Army.

The Empire of the Rising Sun began to move additional forces into its bases in the Han Republic. The Elite 1st Parachute Brigade arrived on C-130s which had been purchased from the US. By Sea the 1st Armored Division arrived It was equipped with the type 74 tank ( very similar to the Leopard I of the German Army but entirely made by the Empire). Lt General Lin Chao commander of the 11th Army assured the President and the Prime Minister that his men were loyal to the government not to the defense Minister. He had arrested several officers sent by the defense Minster and had turned them over to the Imperial Army for questioning.

The 1st Parachute Brigade Brigade of the Imperial Army dropped on the suspected site of the Han Defense Minister . They dropped out of the C-130s flown by the Imperial Air Force and the Royal Hawaiian Air Force. Attached to the Japanese group was a special Forces detachment drawn from the Royal Hawaiian Air Force and the Royal Hawaiian Army. The force had at least 2 dozen personnel that spoke Japanese fluently and several that spoke and read Chinese. The Imperial forces totaled 5,000 and the Hawaiians 500. Included were 5 Stingray MBTs armed with a 105mm gun.

The 1st Parachute Brigade landed and immediately began to tome toward the target. The Royal Hawaii Army's Lt Main Battle Tank company moved to support the paratroopers. An Hawaiian and Japanese Pathfinder detachment had landed first and insured that everything went according to plan. Every unit of the Brigade had some troops that spoke fluid English as well as some who spoke Chinese. The Allied force appeared to have the element of surprise.

The Japanese Para's snipers took out the Han sentries. They were crack shots and none of the Han soldiers had any idea where they were . It was move silently and overwhelm any resistance. Prisoners were taken and questioning revealed where the bunker was. The Hawaiian Tank company worked its way to where the Han Armored unit was and then proceeded to blow the hell out of the armored unit. The entrance was blown open and the shock company of Japanese and Hawaiians poured into the facility. No matter the causalities the allied forces had to press forward and overwhelm the defenders. In less than an how the facility was in the hands of the allies and the Han Defense minister was captures.

The operation in the Han Republic had resulted in the death of Han Soldiers as well as those of allied personnel.. There had been 3 paratroopers killed and 7 injured and 1 Hawaiian had been killed and 2 injured. Still relations with the Han Republic were not strained. The Government felt that the Defense Minister was out of control and with evidence that he was responsible for the mess that the world was in and the death of 12 Imperial Citizens and 50 Han scientist they were happy to turn the matter over to the Imperial Government.Lt General Lin Chao was promoted to General and made acting Defense Minister. He began a house cleaning of his country's military/
