Peshwar Lancers Redux: Empire of the Rising Sun

The Empire of the Rising Sun was reassured at who was the new Prime Minister in Hawaii. She had been someone who had supported stability in the region and had worked tirelessly to prevent wars.

Lt General Lee Chan arrived in the capital of the Empire of the Rising Sun for talks with the Imperial Army about some co-operative exercises. The General was also scheduled to visit the Republic of Korea, Han Republic, Republic of China, Vietnam and Thailand.

Chungking, China Lt General Chan Royal Hawaiian Army arrived in the Chinese capital. The Hawaiian General had discussions with the Chinese Ministry of Defense about the possibility of purchasing a lot of weapons from the Hawaiians and the United States to replace a lot of Russian designed weapons. The Chinese were seeking Hawaiian assitance in gaining US approval to some of the arms sales. The General had with him a Naval and an Air Force aide so as to discuss the possibility of sales to the Republic of China. He made it clear that any arms sales by Hawaii would need the approval of the Prime Minister and of the legislative body.

Lt General Chan met with the new Chinese President who sought to modernize his country's Military and expand trade with the west. He made it clear that the Republic of China's goal was to recover the lost lands taken by the Empire of the Rising Sun but by diplomacy not force of arms. He also sought to reunite the Han Republic with the Republic of China but again peacefully but had been rebuffed. He believed that the Han Republic's Defense Minister was hostile to any attempt at better relations and was looking for an excuse to tighten the border.

General Chan in his report to the Secretary of Defense stated that the two Chinese states seemed to be moving toward conflict. The Republic of China however had moved toward a less aggressive position but he tended to believe the Chinese President that the Han Republic's Defense Minister was itching for a fight. He recommended selling some weapons to China to continue the movement away from Russia.

Hawaii's Secretary of Health was looking into the situation in Africa and attempting to find out more about the status of the restricted zones and if more land might be hopen sooner.

The Republic of China's President was coming to Hawaii to meet with the Hawaiian Prime Minister and discuss issues such as trade, possible arms purchases from Hawaii and the growing tensions with the Han Republic. The Republic of China had been talking to the Empire of the Rising Sun about reducing issues between the two and for help in getting the Han Republic to pull back from its aggressive stance.

The Empire of the Rising Sun sent its Foreign Minister to the Han Republic to express the Empire's desire that the Han Republic back off its aggressive approach to the Republic of China. It attempted to convince them that it would not be in their interest to start a conflict. The Empire also spoke with the French Government in an attempt to slow down the purchase and delivery of arms to the Han Republic by France. It also spoke with the Hawaiian and US Ambassadors in an attempt to gain support to slow things down.

Marshal Lin Biao was the Han Republic's Defense Minister. He was the son of the late Han General who had first served in the Han Army that had been created by the Empire of the Rising Sun. The Ham Marshal was born in 1952. He was quite hostile to the Republic of China.

Marshal Lin Biao continued to influence the Han Republic's government. With control of the Han's Military he had the means to enforce his position. Only intervention by the Empire of the Rising Sun was a check.

Tensions between the two Chinese Republics continued to rise. There appeared to be an arms race between the two. The Han Republics purchase of more and more modern weapons was forcing the Republic of China to follow suit. Yet at the same time relations between the Republic of China and the Empire of the Rising Sun were improving. The Republic was buying Japanese made cars and trucks and trade was rising between the two.

A major engagement took place between the the army of the Republic of China and the army of the Han Republic. When the Han army continued to shell targets across the DMZ the Republic of China ordered a major military response striking targets deep in the Han Republic. The Empire of the Rising Sun was informed by the Republic of China that it was not going to invade the Han Republic if the fighting would stop. The Commander of the Imperial Forces visited the Han Defense Minister and told him to stop. France also announced that it was suspending arms deliveries to the Han Republic.

The Chief of Staff of the Imperial Army had a Frank conversation with the Han Defense Minister. He told him to end the conflict along the border. If not the Han Military would find that it was going to run ot of new tanks, aircraft and critical parts as France would not supply any more.

As a result of pressure applied all fighting on the Han Republic of China border ceased. The Han Prime Minister also stepped forward and publicly called into question the judgement of the Defense Minister. The Prime Minister was protected by elite Police Security forces.
