Life After the Black Sox - A Collaborative TL (with a Twist that Is)

We'll this just in!
After a fan-writing campaign, ABC successfully brought back My So-Called Life for another season, pairing up with a hour-long game show co-produced by Vin Di Bona Productions and DreamWorks Television, Majority Rules (OTL it was only on KPNX-TV in Phoenix and WWL-TV in New Orleans) cancelling off the low-rated Charlie Grace and The Monroes. A joint venture of Capital Cities/ABC and DreamWorks SKG had made a $2 billion bid to purchase syndicated shop King World Productions, the syndicators behind Jeopardy! and Inside Edition. King World will syndicate ABC and DreamWorks shows like My So-Called Life for the future market. The season 2 premiere of My So-Called Life, alongside a new game show Majority Rules, hosted by Marc Summers and created by Mark Maxwell-Smith will premiere TTL on November 16, 1995.

This too just in! TriNet had gotten the game show Bzzzz!, with Anne Wood, from Ralph Edwards/Stu Billett Productions to compete with Wheel of Fortune, Sale of the Century, Hollywood Teasers and Press Your Luck and Fox had an effort for primetime, The Smarter Sex, hosted by David Hirsch, in conjunction with the return of Too Something (now renamed New York Daze). Tempo now teams up to bring new game shows Wild Animal Games, Family Challenge, Eco-Challenge, Nitro!, Shopping Spree and Wait Till You Have Kids this year, plus new episodes of Shop Til You Drop.

However Nitro will be produced ITTL by Vin Di Bona Productions and will still be hosted by Greg Lee (just like IOTL) however they will have physical challenges related to the clips that were shown from the Vaults of Vin Di Bona (a lot of which will come from America's Funniest Home Videos which is currently hosted by Bob Saget) but ABC Daytime will debut it in September along with Majority Rules so here's the Fall '95 Schedule for ABC ITTL

6:00 am: World News This Morning
7:00 am: Good Morning America
9:00 am: LOCAL (many stations could air Live with Regis and Kathie Lee in this slot)
10:00 am: Majority Rules (Marc Summers and Tanika Ray)
10:30 am: Nitro (Greg Lee)
11:00 am: Wheel of Fortune (Pat Sajak and Vanna White - The Daytime Shopping Format)
11:30 am: Supermarket Sweep (David Ruprecht)
Noon: LOCAL (many stations will air the news in this slot)
1:00 pm: All My Children
2:00 pm: One Life To Live
3:00 pm: General Hospital
4:00 pm: LOCAL
6:30 pm: ABC World News Tonight with Peter Jennings
7:00 pm: LOCAL (many stations could air Jeopardy! (Alex Trebek) in this slot)
7:30 pm: Wheel of Fortune (Pat Sajak and Vanna White - The Nighttime Play for Cash Format)

BUT THAT'S NOT ALL! Tempo is premiering a new game show for 1996 produced by Disney, Debt, hosted by Tom Bergeron (here they hosted TTL since Wink Martindale already did his interactive games for the network). Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego?, by WGBH Boston and WQED Pittsburgh debuts on PBS, a daytime version with kiddie contestants, and a new nighttime version with adult contestants (to compete with ABC's Wheel of Fortune), pairing up at 7:30 after The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer and Nightly Business Report with Cassie Seifert and Paul Kangas.

Unfortunately by June of Next Year, Nitro will be cancelled and ABC will replace it with Debt with Wink Martindale which will air after Supermarket Sweep however Majority Rules will air before Wheel of Fortune

And for Tom Bergeron ITTL: He will still host the 1998 Revival of Hollywood Squares just like IOTL, However Trinet Cancelled it in 1993.

So that's not all! Before we get to the 1996 MLB season, NBC debuted a new Reg Grundy production Small Talk, hosted by Will Shriner, and ATN is heading a new primetime game show Man O Man, from Reg Grundy. Tempo is rebooting Let's Make a Deal from Stone Stanley Productions, hosted by Mark DeCarlo. ABC is axing Everybody's Equal, but instead a reboot of Dr. I.Q. arrived in the same timeslot, hosted by Mario Lopez, announced by Randy West and produced by Vin di Bona Productions. PBS is launching a new soap opera Long Beach, underwritten by the National Endowment for the Humanities and Colgate-Palmotive, and it was produced by John Conboy, the creator of the CBS soap Capitol, in association with and taped at KCET Los Angeles. So that's a story KQED airs Long Beach TTL at 1:00 p.m.

UP NEXT: THE PROS TURN TO PLAY FOOTBALL WITH THE WFL THEN THE NFL

THIS JUST IN: Before we get to football, My So-Called Life had returned for a third season on September 17, 1996, as part of a lineup that included High Incident and Murder One. But in the winter of 1997, a hour-long revival of Super Jeopardy! appeared on Thursday nights on ABC, which the hour-long format was a mixture of the standard Jeopardy! format, the 1978 Jeopardy! format and the primetime Celebrity Jeopardy! format from 2022 with a $1,000,000 top prize. The first half hour used the regular Jeopardy! format, with the introduction of the Super Jeopardy! bonus round from the 1978 version, with the $50,000 top prize and kept the three strikes intact, and the introduction of the Triple Jeopardy! and Quadruple Jeopardy! rounds and the Final Jeopardy! round for the next half hour.

So well, this just in!
ABC is adapting the British game show Wowfabgroovy, from Celdaor, Moffitt-Lee Productions and Brillstein-Grey Communications on a Saturday night primetime slot. CBS had adapted the ill-fated Channel 4 game show Think Tank, from Action Time and 3 Arts Television in a primetime slot for Wednesday nights on November 13, 1996, taking over from the controversial Public Morals (TTL Almost Perfect and EZ Streets had retention on the time slot). NBC had axed Caesar's Challenge, and was replaced by a new version of Blockbusters, from Mark Goodson Productions and producer Rick Rosner, hosted by Ed Daniels and announced by Paul Boland, using a remixed version of the British series' theme song by Stormy Sacks, who composed for Hollywood Squares and Caesar's Challenge, in both daytime and primetime slots (the latter took over the Thursday night post-Seinfeld slot from Dragnet 1997).

Also Happening Elsewhere

On September 6, 1997: A New Game Show Made It's debut on Syndication the show is called Click and is hosted by Ryan Seacrest with Announcer and Sidekick Amber Bonasso the show is produced by Merv Griffin Entertainment and is distributed Kelly News and Entertaiment

Not Only That Kelly News and Entertainment also adds a New Game Show called Peer Pressure Hosted by Nick Spano with Announcer and Sidekick Valerie Miller however the show is also distributed by Kelly News and Entertainment and produced by Wheeler-Sussman Productions in which they also brought Singled Out when it aired on MTV.

Then on September 8, 1997: A New Game Show Debuted on Syndication hosted by Alan Thicke which is based on the Board Game and It's called Pictionary however Joe Cipriano is the announcer however it mostly aired on the FOX O&O's.

Tempo is rebooting Let's Make a Deal from Stone Stanley Productions, hosted by Mark DeCarlo.
Well ITTL Let's Make a Deal had returned to FOX Primetime in 1996 with host Mark DeCarlo however it aired after NFL and WFL Coverage but lasted for one season.

But when we get to 1999, Let's Make a Deal will gain new life with new host Jack Gallagher and announcer and sidekick Elizabeth Oakes however many stations will air it along with Click hosted by Ryan Seacrest which will start airing on Weekdays however Hearst-Argyle will syndicate both game shows on Weekdays however the 1999 LMAD revival will use as the same set pieces from the OTL 2002 pilot in which NBC sold it in Primetime for 2003.

But on Weekends when we get to the Fall 1999: Hearst-Argyle will double the pressure with the addition of Pressure 1 to the schedule right before reruns of Peer Pressure (as Pressure 2) hosted by Road Rules One and Philadelphia Benjamins Dodgeball star Mark Long to be aired on Syndication.

However ITTL: GSN's Extreme Dodgeball didn't exist IRL instead Pro Dodgeball became a thing ITTL in which a group of Investors led by Rich Cronin, Mark Cuban, Jerry Jones and Tom Benson to create the NADL (North American Dodgeball League) back in 1991 and is still running since then.
