Irish Iceland

yall forget that the main reason to be in iceland (and greenland later), what ever the nationality, was to hunt walrus, both for the ivory and the oil. as well as other high value stuff like white bear pelts, narwhal(unicorns), hunting falcons, eider down etc...the agriculture was a secondary concern
 
I'd think they could survive well enough in Iceland- if they get there they're obviously maritime Eirlanders so they're just going to be living off fish anyway. The problem is the big Icelandic one of lack of wood for shelter and fuel.
Just getting some people to Iceland isn't enough, you need it to stay in touch with home with regular trade....which is a bit beyond the Irish.

This is a theory, but it´s not beyond doubt. The reason could also have been overpopulation in Norway.
