Ireland & Britain joined

According to tourist guides & legend, & I have no idea whether this is true or not, Ireland & Britain was once joined together, through an isthmus known as the Giant’s Causeway , between Northern Ireland & Scotland. So if this was true in the past, tens of thousands of years ago, what if this isthmus remained until the current day?

So what historical effect would a joined Britain & Ireland have on these two locations?

And what effect would this have on both European & Global history in general?

Discuss.

The giant's causeway wasn't connected to Scotland- just a legend.
Ireland used to be connected to Britain mostly just because of low sea levels and Britain in turn was connected to France.

Most of the time though the bulk of Ireland was under the glaciers.
