Sorry for the big picture (And the misspelling of Confederate States!) but I made this map "guide" for my New England playthrough of Victoria 2 and thought I'd show it to you here. I copied some of the Confederate flags from CRWFlags, but thought I'd include them anyway. Also a few of the flags sort of make sense when it comes down to the game, but then again this is a game where New England owned half of Africa and had colonies in Hawaii and Oman, so it wasn't exactly historically accurate!

Please Ignore the Blank Flags, they are there as placeholders.

WeimarKinder.png

Flag of the German resistant called the Weimer childrens (Weimar kinders)
At first created as a para-military group to counter the SA by the government, the rise in power of Hitler pretty much doomed them. They only escaped the Long knives night purges thanks to some sympathetic police officers many of them helped before, who tipped them about it. This group would get support from the republican germans, SPD member who escaped capture and poor workers. If at first they mainly printed counter-propaganda and removed nazi flag to replace them by Weimar ones as defiance, the brutality of the regime would eventualy push them in partisan activity (like the 22 june ''celebration'' when they took control of a radio station and played anti-nazi messages, in order to distract the attention from a prison break they organized to save some of their member)

Flag of a Socialist-Revolutionary Russian Republic; created after a different 1917 revolution and/or civil war:

SR_rus_1.png

(The Socialist Revolutionary Party was the actual winner of Russia's 1917 elections. They had more legitimacy and grassroots support than any other political force, but - in OTL - they were done in by their lack of coordination, disunity and naivete. Kerensky was the biggest example of this sort of thing.

This version of the Russian two-headed eagle was used by the Provisional Government; it was stripped of its crowns and other heraldic elements to symbolize the end of the ancien régime and the birth of an egalitarian and democratic state. The words are the SR Party motto, which translates to "through struggle you will obtain your rights". The eagle and the the words often appeared on SR flags in 1917-1918, but usually not together.)

Here's the first version I did, I like the other one more though:

^South Carolina looks like someone poorly slapped a sticker onto it. Also, it's nice to see a Communist USA that isn't red and gold stripes only.

[This is from Wikimedia Commons, I didn't make it]

The flag of Louisiana, a state in the Union of Socialist Council Republics of America, after the Second American Revolution in 1934.
(In reality a Louisianan flag used after South Carolina's secession from the union in 1860).

Some information about the real flag:
The New Orleans Picayune describes the festivities on 21 December:
"'After the first gun was heard, the flag of Louisiana was hoisted from the third story window of the rooms of the Southern Rights Association [...] The flag is, like the original flag of Louisiana, of spotless white, with the addition in the centre of a red star, containing in its centre the emblematic pelican. [...] [General William Miles] alluded to the importance of the event made the occasion for the hoisting of the flag of Louisiana, and appealed to Louisiana [...] to range themselves under the banner of the revolution." (Bragg 24).

And some excerpts from the New Orleans Daily Crescent:
"There is no occasion for any very lengthy report of what took place in this city yesterday. The event was one which absorbed the attention of the entire city; for it was not only interesting, but important and portentous. It was nothing more nor less than the unfurling to the breeze of the Pelican Flag - the new flag of Independent Louisiana. A brief announcement in two or three of the morning papers that the Pelican Flag would be spread to the breeze at noonday, from the Headquarters of the Southern Rights Association, No. 76 Camp street, (just above the Crescent office), had the effect of filling the street long before the hour named. [...] The solitary telegraphic tap on the bells, indicative of noonday, had hardly died away, when, from an upper window of No. 76 Camp street, a white flag shot out upon a mast previously prepared, and gracefully spread itself out on the warm South breeze which was blowing, disclosing in its center a large red star, in the center of which star was pictured the shield of Louisiana, a pelican feeding her young" (Nixon).http://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn82015753/1860-12-22/ed-1/seq-1/
Interestingly I used it for the Popular Republic of Louisiana in my TL.

Flag of the Technate.png

Flag of the Combined Scientific Technates of Clanciberia (CSTC), a federal Entropist one-party state. Currently the established resistance to the market-synarchist Clanciberium. I did their paramilitary arm a few months ago, and I hate to self-boast but this is probably my favorite flag that I did. IT LOOKS SO COOL!

Apparently there's a website where you can make your files into actual flags, does anyone have a link to that?

turkistan flag.png

"Animasyon was a mistake. It belongs in the trash."

The flag of the Republic of Turkistan, the Japan analogue (Japanalogue?) from my cover of The Land Leviathan. ITTL, the colors were chosen as a revolutionary reversal of the colors of the Ottoman flag, and to differentiate them from the rump Ottomans, who still cling on to Istanbul. Currently undergoing a massive economic boom.

here is the re-designed flag of the US Navy, posted on reddit by RileyBugzReddits and i wanted to cross-post it on here so it can get more love because i love this one!

Here i made some Random Fascist Flags,in the nazi style. Not going to bother with backstory for every one, since some aren't even based on any existing country. You are free to decide it yourself:

For me and my imagination these are post-Nazi France flags. Basically, the Axis win WW2 and began to become more-and-more fascist, right-wing, and authoritarian. The result is a Nazi Germany so cruel that it outright starts exterminating everyone except known Germanics, including, unfortunately, the French. About 1 century later Germany keeps venturing into the unknown depths of right-wingism and fascism before its relations with Italy and Japan sour to the point Germany is cut up by nearly all its self-conscious neighbors. The remnants of Germany fall into a grand civil war and the following states are made out of German France:

1. Parisian France, a stylized 'F' prominent on the flag
2. Lorraine Reichdom, a corrupted version of the Cross of Lorraine being the center-piece.
3. Brittonica, the result of the British supplanting the French in Brittany instead of Germans. A Gordian knot is featured on the flag, representing that the only way to crush the nation would be war, i. e. a sword.
4. Vichy France, the four-pointed star in the center representing Vichy and the stars on the side representing the prefectures.

But then again, the last flag is USA, so this is all thrown in the trash.

That's the werwolf insignia, not an F.

Crosspost of my Flag Challenge Entry
Here's my entry - in correct 150px sizes btw ;)

Temporal Cold War of the American Union

The Temporal Cold War is one of the labels given to the crosstime conflict between the factions aiming to produce their version of the future American Union.
The 2 predominant factions are the (selfnamed) Alpha Faction and their opponents the Omegas.

The Alpha Faction
Government: Hierarchically Federal Presidential Republic. States make up Regions with a Senate headed by a Deputy President. Regional Senate&Congresses then elect the National Senate and Congress. There is a nationally elected President and, depending on temporal flux, either regionally elected coterminous DPs or DPs on the Presidential Ticket.
Citizenship: There are 3 classes of Citizen in this AU which determine job, medical, and voting rights. The top class Alphas are the only class able to elect the President. Citizenship tests to determine class occur at age 15 and every 10 years after.
Ideology: Libertarian Capitalism. Unregulated free market with a strong corporate element.

The Omega Faction
Government: Federated Presidential Republic. The National Senate and Congress have internally devolved Regional Sub-Senates led by an internally selected Premier or Speaker. The Presidency is the multi-member Executive Council whose newest member is nationally elected each year. Depending on temporal flux there are 7-12 Executive Councillors who serve 1 term each (ie a term of 7-12 years). Regionalism and multiple Councillors have enabled the growth of a multi-party system.
Ideology: Social Capitalism. Strongly regulated market with government funded health and social care programmes.
