Can anyone recolor the wreath and star to yellow, and the background of the flag to red?

Thank you...
Do you like this?

North Carolina
The central diamond emblem combines the arms of Sir Walter Raleigh, the namesake of North Carolina's capital city, with two six-pointed stars, to symbolise that North Carolina was the twelfth (2x6=12) state to join the Union. The two stars also represent the Mecklenburg Declaration and the Halifax Resolves - two revolutionary documents which were issued in North Carolina - as well as the the two nations, Britain and Spain, to colonise the area of the state and the two goddesses on the state seal, Liberty and Prosperity. The blue and white bars reflect the symbolism of the number two and recalls the original 1861 flag of North Carolina.

Wow, that's actually nice. I always liked the old color scheme more than the modern one; too much like Texas for my tastes. It's definitely a very interesting take overall.

I have to say, it reminds me a bit of the flags of many of the old German states as well. Probably positive bias, but was there any inspiration from the Moravians or other German settlers? Or am I just seeing something that isn't there?

Alternate US Flags: NM, NY, NC, ND

Here's the N states, part II.

alternate_us_flags__new_mexico_by_rubberduck3y6-da5culx.png

New Mexico
The flag features the Zia sun symbol to represent New Mexico's indigenous peoples. The circle represents the circle of life, while its four rays represent the four seasons, times of day, directions and stages of life. The golden forward-pointing triangle symbolises New Mexico's state motto "Crescit Eundo" - It Grows as it Goes. The colours recall New Mexico's Spanish (gold and red) and Mexican (green and red) heritage.

New York
New York's history is represented by the blue, white and orange stripes which stand for New York's current status as an American state, and its past as an English and previously a Dutch colony. The central emblem represents the sun rising over the Hudson River or another of New York's lakes and waterways, and symbolises the state motto of "Excelsior" - Ever Upwards - with the two line representing Liberty and Justice - the supporters of state coat of arms. The sun has eleven rays to show that New York was the eleventh state to ratify the United States Constitution. It also recalls the crown of the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor.

North Dakota
The flag is based on the coat of arms of North Dakota. The three stars symbolise the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government and the three countries which have ruled the area - Spain, France and the United States. Each star has thirteen points to represent the thirteen original colonies and to give a total of 39 points to represent North Dakota as the 39th state to join the Union. The fleur-de-lis reflects North Dakota's past as part of the Louisiana Purchase, while the gold and green colours represent the state's rich agricultural lands.
I like the New York flag, but I don't think it compares to the city's flag IOTL. :p

You, sir. Yes. You, just saved my timeline.
I failed to notice that I wasn't on the last page, and that your request had already been fulfilled, when I saw your request post, and ended up doing it too. I only had to find the original svg and change a couple of colors (four clicks basically), so it wasn't a big deal, but guess I'll post my version too:

Eritrean New Mexico? Biafran New York? Somehow this update has a very African feel to it.

I love this series, keep up the good work! Really looking forward to some of the states to come!
It's not African, but don't forget Kazakh Montana as well! Thank you.

I can see what you mean, but the German feel is purely coincidental. Like I said in the description, the bicolour design comes from the first state flag of North Carolina.

I like the New York flag, but I don't think it compares to the city's flag IOTL. :p
That's ATL version of the state flag. :)
Indeed it's an alternate flag for New York state. In fact I deliberately used horizontal stripes and reversed the order (with blue instead of orange on the top) to try to make it more inclusive of the whole state rather than just New York City.

On the flag of NYC - it's OK but would be better with a simpler emblem in the centre rather than a monotone version of the city seal.

THAAAANKS BRUH.

Gonna use tis one.

That's ATL version of the state flag. :)
Oh, I know. But the current state flag is shit, so comparing that to this one would be too easy. The city's flag, however, I really love, and I don't exactly feel like his flag captures the spirit of the state very well. But yeah, that's just my opinion. XD

grungy_socialist_ottomans_flag_by_randumbucket-da5ist3.jpg

Here's a Socialist Ottoman flag I made awhile back. It represents everyone through the colors, while keeping with the socialist red theme.

Crossposting, since I didn't read the rules for the latest WFC and posted three flags insted of one. Since I don't want the other two go to waste, I'll just post them here.

Soviet Socialist Republics of Scandinavia

Butterflies flap their wings and suddenly the USSR does a lot better in the WWII. Operation Barbarossa gets bogged down almost immediately and the Soviet pushback begins already in 1942. In the north, poor Finland is rolled over pretty quickly and Sweden follows suit after long and intense fighting. After Nazi Germany collapses, Denmark is added to the Soviet conquests with little struggle. The Allied landing operations in German-occupied Norway manage to wrench the rump of Norway away from the Soviets, but this is a scant consolation. The Iron Curtain now runs across the Scandinavian peninsula and divided France.

UPDATE: I am now making all the flags for the mod. Oh God. So many...

A few comments based on general design more then anything else:

- Albania communist and democratic looks too alike. I would remove the skenderbeg crown from the democratic one and give a full yellow star to the communist one instead of the voided one.

- Basque fascist: if you want something simpler for it, you could use the stylized "E" used by the basque militia during the civil war instead of that COA.

- canada communist: it seems odd as that it would be used by communists it is basically a colonial flag (not just the red ensign itself but due to the presence of the union flag in canton). Maybe OTL's canadian flag with the maple leaf replaced with the CCP logo. No problem with the fascist but you might be interested to know that OTL the Canadian Unity Party used a similar flag with a red flame instead.

- Catalonia fascist: some left-wing catalonian republicans might have an issue with that one considering they were the one using it. Personally I would go with a normal catalonia flag defaced with a sun cross.

- Czech democratic: if you want it to be different then the czechoslovak one, you could use a bohemian one defaced with the czech arms.

- France Fascist: you could adopt the flag of the PPF instead to make it stand out more. It was a white saltire with alternating red and blue quarters and a double-headed axe in the middle.

- Friesland: For communist you could use the flag of the Interfrisian Council defaced with a red star.

- Good spain: not sure what that means in this context but so that it is different then the democratic version, maybe use a red star instead of the COA ? as for the fascist one, I would recommand putting the fasces (at least I assume thats what it is, its hard to make out) horizontally to help visibility

- Greece: you might want to make at least the democratic one based on the one with stripes.

- Holland: I assume this is the netherland and not just the holland province if so, OTL the WW2 equivalent to the SS used the so-called wolf hook on various element of regalia.

- Italy democratic: maybe either keep it plain or use the repubublican COA instead ?

- Luxembourg fascist: you could draw inspiration from the COA and have a blue/white stripes field and a red cross instead.

- North Ireland Communist: due to the OTL design, I feel like a red fist in a yellow star on a red field would make sense.

- North Ireland Fascist: a group of irish fascist during the spanish civil war used a red saltire on pale blue. You could either use that or the flag of Ulster on a pale blue field.

- Communist Poland: Maybe a red with with a white eagle under a red star fimibriated white ?

- Fascist Poland: You could use instead the flag of the real-world Oboz Narodowo Radykalny-Falanga that existed in the 1930s: a green flag with a highly stylized white arm holding a sword

- Communist republic of Salo: considering a communist version of it would be going all the way around the political spectrum, a red flag type would be appropriate here in my mind.

- democratic republic of salo: maybe have the eagle with wings folded and without the fasces (or holding 2 laurel branches)
- Democratic Slovakia: I think you should keep OTL flag.

- Fascist Slovakia: the Hlinka guard would probably work better: blue double cross on a white circle on a red field.

- Fascist Switzerland: Their was a swiss fascist party in the 30s OTL called the National front. it used a white cross throught on red (a reversed english flag in other words) with or without the image of a spiked mace on it.

- communist UK: just like the canadian flag, the use of a red ensign just makes it look like a colonial flag. Maybe in this case remove the union flag altogether or place a communist emblem in the middle of a union flag. Another option is to use something based on the emblem of the british communist party, a stylised dove and hammer.

- Fascist USA: The KKK emblem would be simpler to see and make sense in context.

- Fascist Wales: while I can see that many people would think of a black flag as evil, the Saint-David flag to me doesn't really have any such connotation. a simple alternative could be a red celtic cross fimibriated white on a green field.

I would like to request a couple of flags out there for anyone who wishes to do some fantasy world flags or wants to do some weird flags
1. A flag related to a mandrill empire of some type that's colors are green, orange, red and the mandrill on it is yellow
2. A imperial orcish style kingdom's flag who's colors are purple, dark green, and white the sign is a elephant skull on it with axes crossing behind it
3. The flag of A Chinese workers union controlled by Taoists who use the colors of Taiwan but use a yin and yang in the center of the flag
4. A Lion related Holy Roman styled flag with the colors of Italy and Greece mix together in the flag with 10 stars on it and in the center of the flag there is a lion's head with a crown on top of it
If anyone like these strange and fantasy flags, i can come up with more flags
edit: Also i challenge any brave soul to make multiple Dark Souls related flags

An alternate album cover full of alternate flags. My version of Bob Marley & The Wailers' "Survival".

AltSurvival.png

Flags are as follow, from left to right:
1st row: Masaailand-Republic of Kongo (aka Kongo- Mbanza Kongo)-Casamance-Ethiopia-Chad-Khedivate of Egypt-Ashanti Republic
2nd row: Senegal-Dahomey-The Cameroons-Tunisian Arab Republic-Bornu-Nigeria-Futa Jallon
3rd row: The Gambia-Majeerteen-Republic of Sudan (aka Sudan-Bamako)-Kongo-Kinshasa-Madeira-Pepper Coast-KaNgwane
4th row: Merina Kingdom-Togo-Mutapa-Ubangui-Chari-Barotseland-Zanzibar-Northern Zambezia
5th row: Basotholand-Buganda-Algerian Arab Republic-Kasai-Sudan-Juba-United Moroccan Republic
6th row: Middle Kongo-Tanganyika-Katanga-Southern Zambezia-Sanwi-Biafra-Gabon
7th row: Benin-Rio Muni-New Guinea-Maravi-Insular Guinea-Comoros-Rwanda-Urundi

It's speculated the inclusion of the flag of New Guinea in the cover record to be a mistake by the designer who possibly thought this former german colony in the Pacific is located in Africa.
