Earlier Spanish Civil War?

WI Jose Sanjuro's attempted uprising was better planned and more successfull than OTL?

Say that his uprising is much better planned, he had more support, and somewhat along the lines of the Nationalist Uprising 4 years later.

What happens? Germany is in no shape to lend any aid, Italy is the only nation to aid this Fascist republic. Will the Republican's win? Or will the division in their ranks lead to a nationalist victory?

Your thoughts...

He would not have been able to depose the republic in a single coup. It would depend on how he could have been able of "using" the divisions on the "republican" side and manage his own supports. Franco did it really good as he made his enemies to bleed themselves while he purged his own side.

the republican side was very divided. they would fight each other. there would be a long war of uncertain winer.

Things would have gone pretty much the same, probably. Even in 1936-39, when Hitler was a clear danger, the western powers opted for helping Franco for fear of a revolutionary Spain. In 1934, when nazis are not a real concern, they would do it even more. Maybe there would even be material help from London to Sanjurjo. OTOH, the lack of the Legion Condor would be bad for the Nacionales (would they be called so in this ATL?) but the Republican would still be weak, divided and isolated.
What could change the outcome of Spanish Civil War, even of WWII, is that it took place not sooner, but later. Let's say in 1938, and when the panzers enter Poland the fight is still going on in Madrid...

In 1932, IMHO, the "red" "danger" in Spain wasn't as evident as in 1936, so, I don't know if the UK or France would have a good opinion towards Sanjurjo. And Italy would have few reasons to help. Hitler didn't reach power til 1933, and even then Germany wasn't in shape to help, either. Finally, Sanjurjo was not a military genius, so I don't think that his rebellion would last long, as it was based in just two cities, Seville and Madrid. So, it wouldn't change the historical outcome of the coup. Perhaps it could last one week longer than historically did.
