Challenge: Create a trailer for an AH film!

<Cue Dreamworks Logo>

<Subtitle: South Pacific. 1945>

An B-29 is on its final approach to an airstrip.

Aged Narrator: I remember that balmy morning. Some lucky hotshots managed to get selected for a special mission.

One of the B-29's engines begin to catch fire.

Unfortunately, they didn't wait too long to get booted.

The B-29 crashes upon landing. A brief glimpse of the stenciled words "Enola Gay" is seen before these are covered in flames.

We had no idea we were the ones to do it.

<Cut to a makeshift briefing room>

Colonel: Gentlemen, in a week's time, you will deliver this payload to this location:

Map zooms in on Hiroshima.

<Cut to black>

<Title: The Lucky Strike>

<Notice: IN THEATERS 2015>

EDIT: This short story concerns an ATL outcome of the Hiroshima strike.

I want to watch Churchill's War. Right now!

Agreed. It made me think about this thread.

I'd give it a shot had I read Red Dawn. I think basically you'd see the USA flag being torn and replaced by one which is definitely Communist red. Then see President X shaking hands with Stalin. Finally you see a piece of paper, one by one you see a hand writing a signature on it, in no real order. They are clear and you can read them (leaders of European countries). It zooms out from the paper when the feather is laid by a hand upon it, and rotates around the room from the middle. It's dark, and behind each leader is a flag of their country. Obviously noticeable is Hitler.

Then it'll zoom out, showing a map of the world, black letters come up saying Axis Powers. Black letters say Britain (Britain gets coloured Red), Germany (Germany gets coloured red), France, Italy. Then it fastforwards, and black colours in all the Axis Powers. It does the same for the Allies. Then it zooms in on the Russian/Europe border, showing European men charging across land, backed with tanks to the sound of gunfire etc.

Flashes out and zooms in on Canadian border, showing USA planes flying over into Canada bombing somewhere there's a Canadian flag.

Finally zooms in off the coast of the Japan, showing IJN against the USN, bombing it out.

Hidden Man (deep, gruff): A single decision can change the world.

[Screen changes to a various WWI clips, then to a scene that shows Imperial German Troops marching through Paris and the Imperial German Flag being hoisted over the Eiffel Tower. A crude version of the Imperial German Anthem is heard]

Hidden Man: Some changes we can predict.

[Franz Joseph I of Austria looks out across Vienna the city is burning.]

Hidden Man: Some come as a complete shock.

[Cut to the Oval Office. General Douglas MacArthur points a pistol at a surprised President FDR.]

MacArthur: Sorry Sir. [MacArthur fires a single shot, a close up shot of a pair of bloodstain glasses falling to the ground.]

Hidden Man: But, one thing is constant in any scenario.

[A map of Western Europe showing 1914 like borders with a few changes.]

Hidden Man: Revenge.

[The Man zooms in on Paris. British and American bombers and fighters fly over, the Eiffel Tower, flying a French flag, is toppled in the carpet bombing. British and American tanks smashing through the city's fanatic defences.]

Hidden Man: For this a war.

[Montage Sequence.]
[Japanese and Imperial Russian forces engaging Chinese, British and American forces in Beijing.]
[Charles De Gaulle being escorted by Adolf Hitler in an Imperial German sergeant's uniform to a waiting plane.]
[Italian ships firing on a Red Flagged Athens.]
[German jet aircraft, and Russian propeller aircraft over London fighting the RAF.]

[Scene cuts back to the Hidden Man who leans forward into the light. The face of Winston Churchill is revealed.]

Churchill: My War.

[Smash to titles]

Title: Churchill's War

[Smash to New York, the city appears normal, though a single speck is shown above. Then the city disappears in a bright flash and behind the Staute of Liberty a mushroom cloud is shown.]

[Smash to Black]

Title: Revenge is coming.
... while this is cool, I have no idea what it's based on.

Yeah, have read that. Robinson's short story, right? Good old Capt. January...

For my own TL...

[Black Screen. Sounds of marching boots.]

[Fade in. The Oval Office. George W. Bush and a presidential advisor are sitting.]

BUSH: What's happened?

ADVISOR: I don't know.

[Flash cut. The White House is burning, the Washington Monument is toppled. Soldiers are fighting throughout Washington D.C. We pan around the battlefield, and see Russian soldiers fighting Americans. Planes are fighting in the fly.]

[Flash cut. A UCAV is flying by over the desert, looking like a Predator, but with the Rising Sun symbol on its wings.]

NARRATOR V/O: This fall...the Empire returns...

[Cut. We see an aircraft carrier, dozens of planes with Rising Sun symbols on their wings. There are other carriers, as the camera pans out and lets us see the whole fleet, dozens of ships.]

NARRATOR V/O: Just when you thought you were safe...war comes to America.

[Images flash by. Paratroopers descending by the statue of liberty, an American city burning to the ground, dozens of American soldiers fallen by the Lincoln Memorial, fighters engaging each other in the sky, a nuclear explosion. Fade to black.]

INSANITY STUDIOS

COMING FALL 2012

R-RATED FOR VIOLENCE

OK, here's my first try (I'm not guaranteeing it will be good though) :

----

black and white historical footage, quickly showcasing the events of World War One from the Sarajevo assasination up till the October Revolution

a tired and raspy voice with an American accent narrates (in a mildly sarcastic tone)

"This delightful and cheery war started in July 1914. The Great War. The War To End All Wars, as many had hoped. But we know better these days - they were wrong. It is now late February 1964 and believe it or not...

quick fade to black, sudden cut, the sound of hundreds of gun shots, roar of machine gun salvos, deafening boom of gigantic artillery, frantic montage of heavily fortified frontlines fought over by thousands of tired, badly wounded and unstrung soldiers

...the war is still being waged..."

fade to black, ominous Latin and Orthodox Russian chanting in the background, letters pop up in the middle of the screen : early 1918

we see Red Square in Moscow filled with tens of thousands of people, a platform with a row of gallows on it, from each noose hangs a high-ranking member of the Bolsheviks and Tsarist loyalists

we get a closer glimpse at an elevated rostrum next to the gallows, with a strangely dressed man standing atop of it

"People of Mother Russia, the sanctuary of the most beloved Orthodox Church and true Slavic spirit !

quick montage of the bloody battles of the Russian Civil War, then flashbacks of the violent exploits of an odd-acting young officer, we see him fight in the Carpathians, Urals, near Lake Baikal and finally in the steppes of Mongolia

I offer you a new future ! A future filled with glory, prosperity and power !

the officer and his tiny army violently conquering Ullanbatar, breaking all existing resistance and recruiting new followers for their uknown cause

A future more glorious than even all the Tsars and Khans could have dreamed of !

burning villages, the subjugation of Siberian, Mongolian and central Asian tribesmen, their oath of fielty to the mysterious officer, the assasination of the Mongolian ruler, the officer crowned a new Khan

A future of peace, plenty and an eternal empire to rule all of Eurasia !

pogroms on supporters of both the Reds and Whites, burning cities, monasteries and military garrisons, survivors bowing to the insane officer and his rag-tag army of modern barbarian raiders

I offer you me - baron Roman Nickolai von Ungern-Sternberg..."

the crowd errupts into near-fanatical cries of "All hail Sternberg !", the baron's macabre flags containing a fusion of a dharmacakra, Orthodox cross and a splintered skull with the letter U fly above the Kremlin and the surroundings

we get a close-up of Sternberg, a pleased grin appears on his face, his facial expressions showing clear signs of surpressed madness

sudden cut, the letters 1964, the racket of the frontline again

heavy breathing, a soldier slowly peaks over the top of the trench, turns around a little and shouts something (in a British accent), off screen gunshot, the soldier's body rolls down into the trench, with a visible hole on his forehead

we see a quick shot of his arm patch, with the letters USWE somewhat obscured by mud
unpleasantly surprised French, German, British and American accented voices are heard in the background

cut to a soldier on the other side of the frontline, holding an antique-looking sniper rifle with some more modern elements and a laser target designator attached to the scope

he chuckles and exclaims in Russian :

"Tvoyu matz..."

suddenly, we hear a loud buzzing sound getting closer, the soldier becomes nervous, starts fleeing through the half-collapsed trench and waving to German speaking soldiers in the distance

we hear gatling gun volleys behind his back, he accidentally trips and falls into mud, then slowly turns around and gazes onto an incoming missile deployed by a bulky and archaic-looking attack helicopter

fade to black, loud explosion

sudden cut, the screen of a malfunctioning TV showing some propaganda-style news

"...and as you can see, our brave lads have once again managed to hold the Russo-Mongolian scum at bay.

an attractive female news anchorman appears, pointing her finger at the viewer

Don't forget, you too can volunteer and help defend the European Frontline, help defend the United States of Western Europe, help defend civilization from the horde of barbarian locusts from the east !

the image on the screen cuts to some financial and stock exchange news

In other news, the success of the current offensive has proven vital to the economy..."

the screen goes fuzzy, her voice and the entire screen fade away to black, with sounds of a WWI-like battlefield dimly echoing in the distance

the following letters appear on screen :

[Que HBO Logo, Picture dissolves into static]

[Picture remains static, but sounds are heard. Gunfire is heard in the background, sounds of American Marines shouting, screams and moans]

[1986]

Reporter: As you can see the city of New York is being overrun. The marines are keeping them off us, but so far there is no sign that their ranks are depleting. [Loud Moaning] Hey? What the …!

[Blood curdling scream is heard]

[2010]

[Picture reforms to a picture of George H. W. Bush in a straight jacket sitting in a metal fold up chair]

[George H. W. Bush
Prisoner
Federal Correctional Facility Institution
Danbury, Connecticut, United States of America]

Bush: It was a matter of national security and we had to prevent panic. I admit we made some mistakes, but I have no regrets of the blackout of the media. It was in the American people’s best interest to keep them from a nightmare from Communism, and now its taken hold of our country.

If the Chinese had told us what was happening instead of hiding behind a cloud of threats we could have stopped it there and then. Look what happened when Israel told the world of ‘walking corpses’. What do you think would have happened to us if we did it?

[Scene shifts to a grand view of the Masjid al-Haram]

[Osama Bin Laden
Grand Ayatollah
Masjid al-Haram
Mecca, Arabia]

Laden: It’s not often I get an American or any foreigner since my government’s decree on restrictions on non-Muslims entering the country. Though I have to say the war in Afghanistan was interesting. We battled with the Soviets for five years and then I’m fighting beside them against a common enemy.

[Scene shifts to a desk with the Soviet Union flag to one side, a man in a KGB uniform sits at the desk]

[Vladimir Putin
KGB Chairman
Lubyanka
Moscow, USSR]

Putin: Before 1985 the only place you and I could have met would be prison downstairs. Now I’m talking to a reporter, something I never imagined, no offense but the camera makes me nervous.

Interviewer (off camera): There were reports that the KGB knew.

Putin: I cannot answer that question. I was a mid-ranking officer in Dresden in East Germany drinking my heart out each week at the pub, all I heard were rumors of something happening in China. Nothing more, no bio-experiments, no great threat, just political unrest and the Chinese are famous for that.

[Scene dissolves into static, screen glitches back into 1980’s video style broadcasts]

[Montage. A line of Soviet tanks with Soviet troops and Afghan Mujahideen on top looking carefully around, a sign to the side says, presumably 'Welcome to Iran' and the Iranian flag beneath the worlds. A long line of men in blue coats and hoods with ancient looking rifles slung over their shoulders marching. Waves of Indian civilians heading to the sea.]

[Scene shifts to a deserted suburban town somewhere in America. A lone figure in a tattered business suit stands with is back to us. The figure turns quickly, the figure is a zombie. It opens its rotten mouth and moans. Camera zooms into the black of his mouth.]

Title: WWZ 1985-2003.

Voice Over: I had to do it. The wartime economic boom collapsed, and if I wanted to win that election it was the only thing I could do to return us to the prosperity.

[We see a flash of Woodrow Wilson signing the Treaty of Versailles, in perfect health]

[We see a flash of the first session of the League of Nations, notably with an American delegate included]

[We see a flash of Allied troops moving into occupation zones in Germany]

[We see a flash of Allied troops (including the Japanese) retreating in a snowy place, presumably Siberia]

VO: In retrospect, of course it was a huge mistake. But did I know that at the time? Of course not.

[We see a political map of Europe in 1918. Suddenly the majority of nations in Europe turn black]

[We see banners on windows in American shops, reading: "Wilson and McAdoo 1920!"]

[We see a man standing on Main Street, New York, holding three newspapers in hand. They read, from left to right, "Wilson calls in debts, Europe in anarchy!", "Wilson won the election!", and "Wilson resigns from office, McAdoo new President!"]

[We see the map of Europe again, the black parts slowly fade into a green color, while on the edges it turns dark red]

[We cut to a meeting between four men. Behind them are clearly the British, French, German, and Italian flags.]

[The map of Europe once more, and labels are now shown. The European League is shown encompassing Central Western Europe, and the Soviet Union extends as far as what should be the Polish/German border]

VO: Their vengeful fury was quite fearsome.

(Dark music plays, we cut to grainy black and white war footage)
[American troops trudging through the Congo]
[fighting between European troops and American militia in Boston]
[the Soviets and the Europeans fighting in Berlin]
[Japanese troops in Sydney, covered by American tanks]
[Turkish troops advancing upon European infantry in Egypt]

VO: But in the end, we triumphed. But at a terrible cost.

Just a random idea I got. And no, the film is not being released in '34, that's just a reference to the year the war started.

Ooooh... I like, since I have World War Z :)

Has someone done this timeline, then?

Someone tried, but never got round to it just made outlines.
OK. So the basic idea is World War Z happens in the mid-80s. Still with 'Patient Zero' in China somewhere?

I assume the US would have even more trouble than in the novel. Army & Air Force still mostly geared towards fighting Soviet tank armies, not what you want for a zombie invasion.

Shot of Speer's Berlin, Swastika flying over the Volkshalle. All colors are rather sepia toned. Everything is as noir as color can be. Text reads, "Berlin, 1964"

Got a call at five this morning. Body washed up out of the Havel.

Shots of cops pulling a drowned man out of the water.

So who is he?

March
So who would want him dead?
