Check out statichaos' timeline, it's more awesome than I can put into words.
I have read it. It is awesome. And scary. The Micky Mouse Club as a Hitler Youth group is scary.

I want to watch Churchill's War. Right now!
... while this is cool, I have no idea what it's based on.[Black Screen. Marching jackboots heard]
[Scene shows a single man at a desk smoking a cigar, he is hidden by the shadows]
Hidden Man (deep, gruff): A single decision can change the world.
[Screen changes to a various WWI clips, then to a scene that shows Imperial German Troops marching through Paris and the Imperial German Flag being hoisted over the Eiffel Tower. A crude version of the Imperial German Anthem is heard]
Hidden Man: Some changes we can predict.
[Franz Joseph I of Austria looks out across Vienna the city is burning.]
Hidden Man: Some come as a complete shock.
[Cut to the Oval Office. General Douglas MacArthur points a pistol at a surprised President FDR.]
MacArthur: Sorry Sir. [MacArthur fires a single shot, a close up shot of a pair of bloodstain glasses falling to the ground.]
Hidden Man: But, one thing is constant in any scenario.
[A map of Western Europe showing 1914 like borders with a few changes.]
Hidden Man: Revenge.
[The Man zooms in on Paris. British and American bombers and fighters fly over, the Eiffel Tower, flying a French flag, is toppled in the carpet bombing. British and American tanks smashing through the city's fanatic defences.]
Hidden Man: For this a war.
[Montage Sequence.]
[Japanese and Imperial Russian forces engaging Chinese, British and American forces in Beijing.]
[Charles De Gaulle being escorted by Adolf Hitler in an Imperial German sergeant's uniform to a waiting plane.]
[Italian ships firing on a Red Flagged Athens.]
[German jet aircraft, and Russian propeller aircraft over London fighting the RAF.]
[Scene cuts back to the Hidden Man who leans forward into the light. The face of Winston Churchill is revealed.]
Churchill: My War.
[Smash to titles]
Title: Churchill's War
[Smash to New York, the city appears normal, though a single speck is shown above. Then the city disappears in a bright flash and behind the Staute of Liberty a mushroom cloud is shown.]
[Smash to Black]
Title: Revenge is coming.
Yeah, have read that. Robinson's short story, right? Good old Capt. January...<Cue Dreamworks Logo>
<Subtitle: South Pacific. 1945>
An B-29 is on its final approach to an airstrip.
Aged Narrator: I remember that balmy morning. Some lucky hotshots managed to get selected for a special mission.
One of the B-29's engines begin to catch fire.
Unfortunately, they didn't wait too long to get booted.
The B-29 crashes upon landing. A brief glimpse of the stenciled words "Enola Gay" is seen before these are covered in flames.
We had no idea we were the ones to do it.
<Cut to a makeshift briefing room>
Colonel: Gentlemen, in a week's time, you will deliver this payload to this location:
Map zooms in on Hiroshima.
<Cut to black>
<Title: The Lucky Strike>
<Notice: IN THEATERS 2015>
EDIT: This short story concerns an ATL outcome of the Hiroshima strike.
The Bomb never lands in the city itself.
Good story indeed. Makes me wonder whether OTL WW2 could have ended like in the book.Yeah, have read that. Robinson's short story, right? Good old Capt. January...
Ooooh... I like, since I have World War Z[Que HBO Logo, Picture dissolves into static]
[Picture remains static, but sounds are heard. Gunfire is heard in the background, sounds of American Marines shouting, screams and moans]
[1986]
Reporter: As you can see the city of New York is being overrun. The marines are keeping them off us, but so far there is no sign that their ranks are depleting. [Loud Moaning] Hey? What the …!
[Blood curdling scream is heard]
[2010]
[Picture reforms to a picture of George H. W. Bush in a straight jacket sitting in a metal fold up chair]
[George H. W. Bush
Prisoner
Federal Correctional Facility Institution
Danbury, Connecticut, United States of America]
Bush: It was a matter of national security and we had to prevent panic. I admit we made some mistakes, but I have no regrets of the blackout of the media. It was in the American people’s best interest to keep them from a nightmare from Communism, and now its taken hold of our country.
If the Chinese had told us what was happening instead of hiding behind a cloud of threats we could have stopped it there and then. Look what happened when Israel told the world of ‘walking corpses’. What do you think would have happened to us if we did it?
[Scene shifts to a grand view of the Masjid al-Haram]
[Osama Bin Laden
Grand Ayatollah
Masjid al-Haram
Mecca, Arabia]
Laden: It’s not often I get an American or any foreigner since my government’s decree on restrictions on non-Muslims entering the country. Though I have to say the war in Afghanistan was interesting. We battled with the Soviets for five years and then I’m fighting beside them against a common enemy.
[Scene shifts to a desk with the Soviet Union flag to one side, a man in a KGB uniform sits at the desk]
[Vladimir Putin
KGB Chairman
Lubyanka
Moscow, USSR]
Putin: Before 1985 the only place you and I could have met would be prison downstairs. Now I’m talking to a reporter, something I never imagined, no offense but the camera makes me nervous.
Interviewer (off camera): There were reports that the KGB knew.
Putin: I cannot answer that question. I was a mid-ranking officer in Dresden in East Germany drinking my heart out each week at the pub, all I heard were rumors of something happening in China. Nothing more, no bio-experiments, no great threat, just political unrest and the Chinese are famous for that.
[Scene dissolves into static, screen glitches back into 1980’s video style broadcasts]
[Montage. A line of Soviet tanks with Soviet troops and Afghan Mujahideen on top looking carefully around, a sign to the side says, presumably 'Welcome to Iran' and the Iranian flag beneath the worlds. A long line of men in blue coats and hoods with ancient looking rifles slung over their shoulders marching. Waves of Indian civilians heading to the sea.]
[Scene shifts to a deserted suburban town somewhere in America. A lone figure in a tattered business suit stands with is back to us. The figure turns quickly, the figure is a zombie. It opens its rotten mouth and moans. Camera zooms into the black of his mouth.]
Title: WWZ 1985-2003.
Unite in the face of Death
Ooooh... I like, since I have World War Z
Has someone done this timeline, then?
OK. So the basic idea is World War Z happens in the mid-80s. Still with 'Patient Zero' in China somewhere?Someone tried, but never got round to it just made outlines.
