Hey, look, I inspired something. Yay! Also, I made my first infobox. Yay!

I feel like this is referencing something... I just can't put my finger on it...

Naaaaaaaahhh, of course not. This is totally original, no references or parallelism at all. You must just be confused. Yep.

This intrigues me... Please continue.

Thanks! Not sure quite how to continue but I'll do my best.

As an NBer let me just emphasize how awesome this is

Hooray, the local seal of approval!

Personally I'd be interested to see the extent of the Acadian Federation and New England, and how these ATL Troubles came about (I'm guessing acrimonious partition of something)...

Actually, I already have a map of that! http://keperry012.deviantart.com/art/Alternate-North-America-586610078

As for how it started, uh... Well, as a direct parallel in an obviously totally different situation it's probably best not to think too hard about it lest the whole thing collapse! I imagine there was some sort of war between the Acadian Federation and Britain + New England at some point during the late 19th or earlier 20th century which would have inflamed nationalist sentiment on both sides, plus the spread of *socialist de-colonial ideology in the successive decades, something something economic factors, and you get a Catholic Francophone movement pushing for the (re)unification of Old Acadia with New Acadia, plus a Protestant Anglophone reaction against it.

Fascinating, I was going to ask if the Commonwealth of Virginia is also a British realm?

Ah I see, an interesting on an OTL event.

I'd definitely be interested to see more about the Dominion of Columbia...

Part of Our Father's Stars
==============================================================

"These degenerate rabble-rousers are no friends of the Chinese people. They trivialize all human dignity and decency by threatening its very soul. They undermine our society by attempting to write division into our DNA. Any man who loves God ought to oppose them. Any woman who loves her child ought to oppose them. Any lover of democracy and freedom ought to oppose them. The Transhumanists will bring nothing to China but further ruin."

~Cheng Ch'iu, spokesperson for the Global Alliance of Patriotic Democrats. Interview with Al-Jazeera China: Politics for a New Century?

"I think that the Transhumanists are well-minded. I really do. I think that they want what's best for everyone, and that they think they have the solution for the human condition. This is hubris. It's sad, really. You have these brilliant young Chinese minds that could do so much good for their community, that are then snatched away. We do believe that technological progress ought to be embraced, and we are willing to make compromises with the Transhumanists if they benefit the general society. Still, we cannot condone their delusions. Immortality? Disdain for the flesh? No, those are not Chinese values, and those are not socialist values. If you want a heaven on earth, go find religion. If you want a better tomorrow, then work for it."
~Chyou Lei, spokesperson for the Congress for a Social Alternative. Interview with Al-Jazeera China: Politics for a New Century?

~Feng Hao, spokesperson for the Zentrum International. Interview with Al-Jazeera China: Politics for a New Century?

"Now, off the record, the Transhumanists are a pathetic, half-funded rabble. They're an overgrown book club that has decided to try to play politics like a child. All of them are either wild-eyed idealists or bleeding-heart spendthrifts. Can't stand them."
~Feng Hao, spokesperson for the Zentrum International. Private interview with Al-Jazeera China

"When it comes down to it, we believe in freedom. Not just personal autonomy, or just political freedom, but true existential freedom. Radical freedom. That we, as human beings, can really do anything. That's not to say that there is no human nature, or that humans are above God. Rather, it means that we are free to create and reshape the world for the better. That also includes reshaping ourselves. The world has suffered greatly over the 20th and 21st century, and a lot of that has to do with human failure. Man's failure to do good by his fellow man, and man's failure to do good by the earth. These failures have a lot to do with our limitations as humans. Our limited empathy. Our limited wisdom. Our limited connection to the natural world. We believe not only that these limitations can be overcome, but that they must be overcome if we are not to repeat our mistakes again and again."
~Song K'ung, spokesperson for the New Century Alliance. Interview with Al-Jazeera China: Politics for a New Century?

Founded in 2033, the Transhumanist Alliance is one of the many global associations of Transhumanist organizations. While other associations, such as the Association of Transhumanist Societies and the HumanPlus Business Council, are primarily concerned with the exchange and dissemination of Transhumanist ideas and technology, the Transhumanist Alliance has always had a focus in securing political power to implement its ideas. While the organization remained obscure in the 30s and early 40s, the democratization of China, 4th wave feminism, and the Solomon Incident all fueled renewed interest in Transhumanist politics. The organization was quick to embrace Synthetic Rights, and remains a lead champion of the movement across the world. While membership has swelled for the organization, its operational structure is paltry compared to the Zentrum, the Chinese politiclubs and the Fifth International. While there have been talks of reform in order to be able to campaign for Transhumanist parties on a global scale, lack of donor money and a resistance to institutionalism by its membership have hampered efforts so far.

The Transhumanist Alliance is a relatively loose organization. It's easy for a party to enroll, and the Alliances's institutions have limited policy-making authority. Thus, multiple tendencies exist throughout the organization. The largest of such tendencies include 4th wave feminism (Union for Self-Autonomy, All-Indian Women's Congress), nationalist Transhumanism (Republican Peoples' Party, Transhumanist Union), liberal Transhumanism (New Resilience, New Century Alliance), socialist Transhumanism (Tomorrow's Canada, People's Life Party), and revolutionary Transhumanism (Ascension, Now!, New Korean Revolutionary Party). Tensions can run high between members of different tendencies at the Alliance forums, especially between revolutionary and business-orientated Transhumanists. Still, most Transhumanists are united by the same values and ideas, and all aspire for the creation of a new humanity and a new earth.

Okay, there we go. I do like all the overlap with the Women's International (has that been mentioned before?), but all those Serb nationalists have me a little worried.

No. I just came up with 4th Wave feminism and the Women's international. I can't go too far into it at the moment, but I will get to it later. Of course, the next thing on the list is talking about some other indications of the spread of Transhumanism across the world.

How widespread is transhumanism, @machinekng. Not just as any sort of ideology, but socially as well as technologically?

Okay, I added maps for two other indicators: Augmented Nervous System regulation and germline cell modification availability. I hope that helps.

@machinekng that Zentrum International thing you made is one of the coolest and unique things I've seen.

Agreed, this is one of the most unique and interesting FH politics I've seen

Completely agree with these; it's quite terrifying because it's so plausible.

And a lot more interesting than "which current freshmen will make it all the way" which dominates FH on this website (with some notable exceptions of course)

Just wanted to say thanks. It's this sort of validation that keeps me up to 3:00AM working on wikiboxes.
