It is logical. Still, the American space program was founded by the former Nazi, and the Soviet Union, too, was so full of German experts (even anecdote on this subject is).
And it is not all-it matter was very funny movie (as I remember one of the three best comedies I've ever seen)!

there is also a minor Conspiracy stating that the Japanese had there own seperate Space Program or worked with the Germans on the same Program, which led to the inspiration for Steel Sky.

Lion Skies. The British Empire, abandoned by the United States on the verge of defeat at the hands of the Third Reich and Imperial Japan, flee to the dark side of the moon from secret bases in India. On earth the Americans are inevitably cowed by Nazi super science and Japanese discipline. Following the defeat of the US the world is divided between the two former allies who now eye each other suspiciously. Upon the Lunar surface the Empire quietly rebuilds it's forces and waits for it's chance to strike. For decades the world languishes beneath the cruel yoke of the two Hyper-Powers, conflict inevitably flaring up as Japan and Germany finally come to blows. As the Third Reich and the Japanese Empire march to war, the skies are suddenly darkened as massive vessels descend from high orbit to enact revenge against the former Axis powers.

• Blue Sky: After losing the Chinese Civil War, several Kuomintang Chinese use Modified P-40 Fighter Planes to escape to Ceres. Upon landing, the Chinese create a Base shaped like the White Sun and establish the "New Republic of China," and after 80 years of waiting, the New Republic of China seeks to return to Earth and restore there power in China
• Black Sky: after losing the Russian Civil War on the Ukrainian Front, Several Anarchists use Black Planes to escape to Neptunes moon of Triton. Upon landing, the Anarchists create a base in the shape of a Skull and Crossbones and establish the "Free Territory of Triton." After 96 years of waiting, the Free republic seeks to return to Earth and Liberate it using the Gift of Anarchism.
