Ætas ab Brian

Interesting (though sadly uncompleted) piece of work from the alternate history wiki (not ours):

http://althistory.wikia.com/wiki/%C3%86tas_ab_Brian

It's a bit confusing since the author uses Latin dating and numerical formats, but you can follow the overall plot well enough if you put some effort in. Long story short: Baby Jesus adopted by Roman official, becomes known as "Brian" :)D); Christianity never exists. Said official becomes Roman Emperor after Augustus (who dies earlier ITTL); Roman Empire survives and conquers roughly 2/3 of the world's land mass by the 15th century.

It's implausible in parts, but fascinating to read. Give it a shot.

Also of note: The "Romans Discover the New World" cliche is fulfilled, but with a twist: after the Romans discover it, a plague sweeps the empire in the 9th century (the Miasmata), cutting off the New World from the Old. By the time the Romans rediscover it, their former colonies had developed civilizations and identities of their own.

Sounds cool. I'll take a look. The Romans rediscovering their old colonies kind of reminds me of how in OTL the Vikings lost track of their colonies in Greenland and Iceland
