November 1939; Operation Barbarossa is complete. With Russia's infinite resources we shall build a navy to crush Perfidious Albion!

Haven't gotten much further yet, lining troops up for a super early Barbarossa. The game started off as an attempt to see how far I could get on the basis of playing Germany solo, because I despise Germany's allies, especially Italy. Turns out it's pretty easy to rush the Anschluss and Munich if...

That moment where you play for the first time in a while and accidentally get the True Blitzkrieg achievement by starting the war off in 1938.

There's a button on the province window of the province you want to nuke.

I always liked the concept but my fundamental problem with the OOB system was that it didn't seem to add anything to the game save immersion value and needless complication. The funny thing is with the new system of developing armies and theatres they're actually in a better position to have...

I'm not sure where this massively negative reception thing is coming from. Ironically, I imagine if anyone is massively negative about it it's the hardcore milsim HoI3 players who would rather Paradox make nothing at all rather than a commercially viable game.

I can't tell whether Italy is broken in this game or just the entire supply and production system, whichever one lets them hold out indefinitely on the historically industrially poor island of Sicily by putting 5 divisions in every port and asking "oh, have you been fighting a land war the...

Well, fortunately more terrible AI actually saved me, the Germans being very passive towards Romania until they had overwhelming numbers, by which point I've taken all of western Germany. It's a thing I've noticed a lot in this game in particular, the Romanians didn't want to retake the land...

I've probably just lost a war because the capitulation mechanics are retarded. Little Entente, defending Czechoslovakia 1938. Romania has most of their army in Slovakia when CZ capitulates. All of undefended Slovakia goes to Germany, instantly cutting off the Romanian army which then got stomped...

So, after the cock up on Cuba, Communist America has finally been drawn into the wider world war and has had to stop liberating the proletariat of the Americas in favour of helping her Russian comrades defeat the fascist menace. Most of the Japanese fleet has been sunk and as soon as my marines...

So I just lost 10 divisions invading Cuba because apparently either a single tile was somehow giving 6 divisions enough supplies to keep on fighting or my entire Atlantic navy sitting outside couldn't stop the supplies getting through. That's fucking retarded.

Think of it less as two military factories and more as a military factory and a naval dockyard :P

Now I'm no game dev, but I don't think the guy that does the AI has much overlap with the art guy :P

There's a pretty good mod for Germany that adds names to stuff like the different artilleries and infantry equipments so it is possible to do that sort of thing, and it's even ironman compatible. I'm just waiting for more mods like that for other countries, or better still, a mass mod for all...

I REMEMBERED. As with half the other borked system in the game, it's the AIs fault. The AI seems to be piss poor in handling airforces, not from a utility stand point but from an even remotely realistic standpoint. Exhibit A, 3000 fighters in the Channel, and nowhere else. If this reflected real...
