  1. WI-Yamato Japanese didnt settle the island.

I'm guessing they're referring to the Altaic theory, a now largely abandoned linguistic proposal that says that the Turkic, Mongolic, Tungusic, Korean and Japonic languages form one family. Either way, linguistic relationships do not equal genetic relationships.
  2. Europa Universalis III

That is the craziest EUIII map I've ever seen bar none.
  3. AHC: Islam Fails

I don't know, weren't there other religious movements like Manichaeism that were fairly strong in Persia at this time? I'm not sure why Coptic would spread outside of Egypt... I don't know why this would happen either.
  4. WI Native Americans reach Europe first

Some did. I think that their was probably enough food to be gained on land through hunting/gathering or agriculture meant that large scale sea faring ability was never developped.
  5. WI Native Americans reach Europe first

There was low-level contact between North America and Siberia in OTL, but maybe these could be intensified somehow...
  6. WI Native Americans reach Europe first

Maybe the Inuit could settle Iceland before the Norse, but even that is unlikely. Beyond that, I'd say its nearly impossible...
  7. Most Interesting Pre-European PoD for America?

Interesting I've never heard of this. Do you have any sources?
  8. Islam Christian Switch

I don't know, I'm fairly ignorant of the time period. But couldn't local Islamic rulers expand into France+Europe at some point? Failing that, there are other ways for religion to expand without conquest.
  9. Islam Christian Switch

The challenge never says that all of the Islamic world has to be under the control of one Caliphate though.
  10. Ask Me About Ancient Egypt

That's really interesting actually I might have to ask you something about that in the future. Have you ever researched/learned much about Coptic?
  11. AHC: Celtic Persia

I can do you one better! I once found a site that the Olmecs were descended from African explorers from Southern China, because Southern China was settled by Africans in ancient times.
  12. French Remains A Germanic Language

I agree with you completely. Languages are adopted by different peoples for different reasons at different times, mostly due to "prestige" or related cultural reasons. Most of the cases you posted above conform to this, in my opinion. I think that the size of the conquered population can be a...
  13. Maximum Eskimo

I really like this TL. Its cool that your writing it about your own local history. I've been meaning to write something about British Columbia vut can't find the write POD. It would be really cool if you continued!
  14. French Remains A Germanic Language

I think he meant that Celtic is to Italic what Baltic is to Slavic, i.e., that Celtic and Italic related in a similar way as Baltic and Slavic are within the Indo-European family. Balto-Slavic is one of the main subgroups within the Indo-European family but I think linguists are less sure about...
  15. French Remains A Germanic Language

That's an interesting factor that I didn't think of. Isn't historical linguistics fun?
